  1. It was the lazy get traffic assessment of the team and not really understanding that we are in a still really big window. it called them "perennial contenders" for the future. We've been lucky to have three straight years of 90+ wins, that rarely rarely happens. Even rarer is for that to happen at the beginning of a window. But there's a very narrow margin for this team (any team,) and given our pitching and bullpen issues, there's a reasonable argument you could make that what looked like an unstoppable juggernaut 12 months ago could be a couple injuries away from a win total in the mid 80s. Almost every team in baseball is a couple injuries away from an 80 win team.
  2. Where can I read or hear about this?
  3. how does his gf and or wife feel about it tho Lol what inside joke is this that Ive missed..
  4. Hmmm, they WANT us to sign B. Harper lol? Are you horsefeathering kidding me? Do they understand how gigantic a leap in production that would be going from J. Heyward-to-B. HARPER? How dangerous would our lineup be with B. Harper batting #3!?! That's hilarious. Do they also want us to sign M. Machado and J. Donaldson too LMAO? I fear pissing off the vaunted Brewers... so lets just do what they say and sign that Bryce Harper guy.
  5. Holy horsefeathers another Vaunted Brewers truther? THE BREWERS horsefeathering SUCK. The Astros were historically good so if that's your bar you're going to be massively disappointed. The Diamondbacks? Get the horsefeathers out of here, they're not close to being as good as the Cubs. The Indians should probably fire everyone too because they didn't even make it out of the DS this year so they're clearly hopeless. The Dodgers got career years out of something called Chris Taylor and Austin Barnes. They'll be awesome again next year but we're right there with them even with production from guys like Taylor and Barnes. I almost didn't respond to tim, because I knew I would get this response. I wasn't talking about teams I thought had better offenses than the Cubs, just teams I liked there approach, with the HUGE qualifier from the few times I watch them. Go back to talking about how Kyle Hendricks is terrible and won't succeed as a starting pitcher. See, it's easy to make someone look stupid, when you misrepresent their view. The Brewers set them MLB record for getting struck out this year without walking or getting on base nearly as much as the Cubs. This the reactions or this forum if we had the Brewers offensive approach at the plate would be quite hilarious though.
  6. How much can a player really change their approach from a 162 game regular season to the post season? They're probably used to making minor adjustments during the season, mostly because of pitcher they're facing that day. But I can't imagine it'd be a drastic change for playoff games. Agreed; I took what Theo said as more of somehow tapping into or focusing on something they've been able to do over the course of the regular season as opposed to having some kind of separate, mythical "playoff mode." Theo also mentioned in his words we faced historically great pitching in the playoffs.
  7. Eh, I’ll put my money on next year. Im sure next year will be great but 2020 when all these guys are like 27 and Rizzo is like 30 or 31 might be the true peak with Bryce Harper in RF.
  8. Not sure I love this but we can just make professor Hendrix teach everyone the cutter now anyways.
  9. Didnt we have the number 1 obp in the NL again this year, score the 2nd most runs (more than the vaunted Dodgers)? Despite some playoff struggles the approach at the plate has been largely a dream come through for Cubs fans the last 2 years. Also have to realize the core is still extremely young. The offense may not hit its peak for another 3 years.
  10. With Zobrist slowing down and Russell seemingly banged up often I highly doubt Javy gets traded.
  11. Time for the Cubs offense to explode for 8 runs per game the next 3. Lets Go!!! Seeing all these pitchers a 2nd time now too.
  12. Theo has 3 titles.. 04 Red Sox were down 3-0 famously.. 07 Red Sox came back against the Indians 3-1. 16 Cubs obviously came back down 3-1. Theo just likes to make things interesting. Time for an 8 game win streak.
  13. We are due to put up an 8 spot. Our offense IS good! Lets go! Cubs 8 vs Nats 3.
  14. It was cool.having a race.. now lets win the title and cruise to 110 wins next year.
  15. The recent history of Cubs players involved in domestic violence might be reason to reposition your moral high ground. None of it is funny or joke worthy. we haven't memorialized our domestic abusers in our stadium. until that day happens i'm ok with my stance here. I still want a Chapman statue..
  16. It still cracks me up that he bailed on the site after being called out on that. What happened?
  17. I paid $2.99 to Steve Jobs for game 7 so I can take that show on the road Explain
  18. But all you gotta do is watch them hit to know they do strike out alot...
  19. These guys are so unclutch like Arod and Bonds.. Need a pro hitter like Doug Mientkeviczzzzzz or Todd Walker.. Amirite?
  20. he's not throwing the fastball because he doesn't know where it's going when it leaves his hand. To me he is being even more wild with the slider. In the Cards game he repeatedly missed with the slider while his FB was overpowering them.
  21. Edwards is still likely a stud in a bad stretch right now. The pitch selection is what Im most pissed about. Idk if itd Willy, CJ or Bosio but throw the [expletive] fastball. Its the 2nd time hes refused to throw the FB and the slider killed him.
  22. The fans want it post. Was that by one of the wives or someone else? both of those are from KB's wife's instagram stories Beautiful.
  23. Finally a Bryant coming through in the clutch. The fans want it post. Was that by one of the wives or someone else?
  24. Had the opportunity to serve on Harper, his wife and her family when the Nats were out in Phoenix a few weeks ago. Ive served on many celebrities before and some are quiet (thus I let them do their own thing). But Bryce and his family were super talkative (also incredibly polite). We talked a ton of baseball. Him and his wife brought up "kris" a couple times like they are pretty fairly close. Mentioned trying to recruit him to play in something that sounds similar to the WBC but in Japan coming up. Well anyways I told him take it easy on my Cubs and would love to see him in the same lineup as KB someday. He said man that would be cool.. we've talked about it Also said his favorite parks to play at are Wrigley, Diego, San Fran and Philly. A lot of other cool baseball talk but too much to type out.
