  1. Complete misuse of assets, a Hendry trademark. Or still have Marquis on the roster, not starting, grumbling about being in the bullpen, and paying him I believe 7 million this year. The original Marquis deal was 3 years 21 million if I remember right. It was a bad situation and Hendry did his best to rectify it, but it's like putting makeup on a pig. Marquis should have never been signed for that kind of money to begin with, but losing Vizcaino is not a big concern, just the cash, which is potentially 4.5 million. Look at the bright side, the Cubs saved 2.5 million off the Marquis contract, although they have nothing to show for it. They actually shaved about 5 million from the contract of Marquis. Marquis did get a 3 year 21 million dollar deal, but the Cubs through backloading had only paid slightly more than 11 through the first two years. 4 went to Vizcaino, a little less than a million went to the Rockies, and the Cubs pocketed 5 million off of it. Thanks. I knew there was some manuvering of the monies somewhere with that deal. As far as Shark being the first one called up to replace an injured starter, probably the case, but I personally think Shark will be most valuable being used in the 7th or 8th, and they can use Heiliman as the spot starter.

  3. I sure hope he doesn't go out into the sun much this summer and get a tan. I love to watch his pasty face get redder, and redder, and redder... We should create a special "Board Index" section section for this guy...It might encourage him, which is a good thing...I think? =D>
  4. In Iowa...I know. Does anyone think it's time to scrap the whole "let's make Samardzija a starter" thing? I know the kid is going to be a starter some day, and probably a pretty damn good one, but this year we need him in the bullpen once again. How long will Jim, Lou, and Larry wait? Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, but I didn't see anything so I put it up.
  5. Yeah, as much as I hate the Cardinals, you have to admire Carpenter. The guy's a stud when he's healthy. That said, I'm not surprised to see him having problems already. I hope he can come back soon, and all of our "oft-injured" guys can stay healthy as well.
  6. Ok, can we all agree that was Lou's biggest blunder so far this year? I love Lou, but geez. Miles over Hoffpauir? Is something wrong with Micah? Anyone know?
  7. And now for your enjoyment...THE BREWERS BULLPEN!
  8. Good job Carlos! Getting one of the biggest clutch Cub killers to weakly fly out is a good day of work!
  9. This is the exact situation as to why I'm glad that Marmol is not the closer. Even though I think he deserves to be.
  10. What about moving Rami to the 3 hole and Soto in the 5, move Lee to the 7? I said that before the season started.
  11. I've never really paid too much attention to Bradley throughout his career, but when they said he was a patient hitter, I had no idea he was this good. I don't think he's swung at a bad pitch all year. Damn, Great play by Weeks.
  12. If the Cubs somehow still get Peavy, he could be the best #5 pitcher in history for sure.
  13. I'll take that all year long from Harden. 6 innings, 1 ER 10 K's. Nice job Rich!!!
  14. Not to jinx it, but Harden has looked very good today. I hope he can finish this inning.
  15. I'm being a bit sarcastic considering it's only 3 games into the season, but looking at their pitching staff, there's no way they will compete this year. They are "capable" yes, capable of giving up a ton of runs. Sure, they'll score some runs on ya, but it's hard to win 11 to 8 on a consistant basis. I'm just stating that things will be back to normal in Brewtown. A half empty ballpark, just waiting for football season to come back around.
  16. ...to irrelevant. :bye:
  17. Kudos to the cameramen, finding the Houston hotties!
