  1. There's a big difference between "letting it all hang out" and throwing 10 MPH less than what you usually throw. From the guy who is waiting for his arm to fall off. Thanks Mr. Doom and Gloom.
  2. I seriously don't see the fascination with Harden's velocity. He's not going to let it all hang out in a meaningless tune up game.
  3. Some idiot on Brewers.net just posted this in the game thread...I can't believe some people
  4. I want no whinning from Brewer/Phillie fans about the Cubs lineup tonight. The Cubs have already taken 2 of 3, so to any fans of the those teams...Just win baby!
  5. does that mean it will be harden in game 2 then? i really hope this works out Lou didn't commit to games 2,3, or 4. He did say Dempster would pitch a game 5, meaning he's probably going to pitch Lilly in one of the middle games.
  6. Lou's not hinting anymore. He just named Dempster game 1 starter in his pregame interview.
  7. I saw this too. Very strange thought process by Timmy. He also kept saying he still likes the Mets to win the WC, his reasoning is because Santana will be pitching the finale on Sunday. Doesn't he realize the Mets have 3 more games before Sunday?
  8. Zambrano has been one of the best road pitchers in the league over the last few years...This rotation makes the most sense. I've seen some people who think the Cubs should go with a 3 man rotation, but in doing so, Dempster would have to come back on short rest for game 4 on the road. I have confidence in Lilly to do a good job, and if necessary, come back with a rested Dempster in game 5 at Wrigley.
  9. Does anyone know how the rules pertain to who the Cubs can send to NY on Monday for a make up game? I assume the players have to be on the 40 man roster so assuming this, here would be a decent lineup to send. Pie CF Fontenot 2B McGee 3B Fox 1B Hoffpauir LF Hill C Cedeno SS Fuld RF Guzman P Bench: Ward, Blanco, Johnson, Fukudome, Edmonds (these guys only play if there is an injury or pinch hitting duty only) Wuertz BP Ascanio BP Pignatello BP Petrick BP Who stays home: The entire postseason pitching staff, Lee, DeRosa, Theriot, Rameriz, Soriano, and Soto. There should be no reason why the Cubs should send any everyday players at all. Once again, does anyone know the roster rules?
  10. Keep the pedal to the metal boys! I love that they keep playing hard even though they aren't playing for anything. Who cares who we play, keep winning!
  11. Is it just me, or has Derek had more clutch hits in the last two weeks, than over the last two months? Nice!
  12. If I hear one Brewer fan say the Cubs rolled over for the Mets, I will punch them squarely in the nose.
  13. If I hear one Brewer fan say the Cubs rolled over for the Mets, I will punch them squarely in the nose.
  14. Oh dear Lord!!! They scored 8 in the first game and got shut down by Santana last night, other than that the offense has been decent enough lately. This thread has a bunch of whinners tonight.
  15. Thank you. That's what I was just saying. No consistency. Z could have easlily been out of that inning if the ump was calling the same pitches he was calling two inning prior. Z's stuff actually is pretty good, just got the Howry squeezed out of him by the home plate ump.
  16. Z looks a tad bit better than last Friday. I would like to see him go 5 then get some rest.
  17. Roster IMO... Outfield: Soriano, Edmonds, Johnson, Fukudome, Pie, DeRosa (6) Infield: Lee, Fontenot, Theriot, Rameriz, Cedeno, Soto, Blanco, Ward (8) SP: Zambrano, Dempster, Harden, Lilly (4) BP: Wood, Marmol, Zamardjiza, Howry, Cotts, Marshall, Marquis (7) Anyone else notice the physical shape Pie seems to be in since his call up? He looks tremendous in my opinion, and would be a great asset late in ballgames defensively/pinch running. The main disagreement of what the playoff roster will be comes down to whether or not Gaudin is ready, which is looking more and more unlikely, so Marquis is going to have to fill that role. It wouldn't break my heart to see Marquis over Howry if Gaudin comes back as well. Anyone like to see Hoffpauir on the roster instead of Fukudome? You would lose A LOT defensively playing Micah in RF, but at least Micah seems to have a clue when he's batting. I would like to see a lot of Micah in the outfield this week once the Cubs clinch, and see how he handles himself defensively and with the bat. Screw Fukie's salary and do whats best for the team, cause Fukudome has looked pathetic at the plate pretty much the entire second half of the season.
  18. When was the last time Sheets pitched well in a real pressure game...The Olympics? I know Marquis is no Curt Shilling but he has pitched well lately in some big games. I think both pitchers will be gone by the 5th or 6th inning and then it comes down to the bullpens...I like our chances with that. Cubs 10-8 If the Cubs finish the string and sweep to clinch on Thursday, I nominate Mark to start the playoff thread, you big stud.
  19. HOU 1 FLA 5 final Can they re-start the "sweep = clinch" talk now?? :P Thanks Marlins. Ok now everybody..."SWEEP! SWEEP! SWEEP!"
  20. Correct. And as a side note, the Astros have Oswalt and Wandy going the next two nights so the likelyhood they win the next two is very high.
  21. Chicago radio, tv, etc. has been reporting all day that if the Cubs sweep the Brewers they clinch the division on Thursday afternoon. This is half right. A Cub sweep eliminates the Brew Crew from the divisional race, but the Astros still need to lose one more game before Thursday afternoon for the clinch. If the Cubs sweep their record will be 93-58, eliminating the Brewers on Thursday afternoon. If the Astros win Tueday and Wednesday at Florida, their record will be 82-69. They don't play until Thursday night. Math: 163-93-69= 1 for the Astros to be eliminated.
  22. Cubs Win. Can they clinch at home this week? Stay tuned!
