  1. Darryn Peterson openly taking himself out of games at halftime to avoid injury and manage his workload is going to start a really bad trend. There's no way I'm using the 1st or 2nd overall pick on a guy like that.
  2. I certainly wouldn't be supporting GB, I'll probably just fall off of following football. I just don't follow any teams outside of Illinois. In my eyes supporting the Bears in Indiana is no different than supporting the Colts.
  3. Maybe it's meatbally, but they leave Illinois and I'm out. What an absolute horsefeathers stain thing to do.
  4. I'm going to go B+. I quite like what they did with the pen even if they didn't get a true lockdown guy. I liked the Cabrera trade and the upside it gives the rotation even if he does come with durability questions. I very much like Bregman at 3B especially because it pushes Shaw into the Zobrist role which is a big upgrade for the bench. So for the things that kept me from ranking it higher. 1) Yes getting Steele back should be a be fairly big for the rotation, but there is a good amount of uncertainty around Cabrera and the Cubs really needed a guy to slot into the top 3 of the rotation. That might be Cabrera, but who knows given his history. 2) The Cub offense is very deep now, but after losing Tucker I'm not sure they have a true elite bat. They've got a ton of guys you can pencil in for 115-130 wRC+ but no one is going to threaten that 150+ wRC+ territory. I also feel like they're bench bat short but maybe Alcantara turns the corner. 3) They rebuilt the bullpen on the cheap and honestly it looks pretty good, but man would I like one more good pen arm, it doesn't even have to be a closer, but one more pen arm in the tier of Palencia/Maton/Harvey.
  5. I love Shaw, the baseball player, in the Zobrist role for the Cubs. There's just a tremendous amount of value to be had there if he can be .750-.800 OPS bat who can fill in at 4 or 5 different positions. I'd honestly be OK with them extending Nico and continuing to use Shaw like that for the foreseeable future.
  6. I can't believe Tauchmann had to settle for a minor league deal
  7. There is just no precedent for a team getting 2 firsts for a guy Crosby's age and production. Younger guys sure, older but more elite guys like Myle Garrett sure. A 1st and a 3rd or a 4th, I think that's where his value is.
  8. At first I thought absolutely not, but the more i think about it I'm good with that deal. I mean what is DJ's value right now, a 3rd, maybe? You get the 5th rounder back to help offset some of that 3rd round value. So it really breaks down to equivalent value of a 1st and like a 4th for Crosby. I'd be cool with that. Then again I was very impressed with Jahdae Walker and think he'd be a very good WR3 on the cheap.
  9. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/rays-garrett-cleavinger-drawing-trade-interest.html What would be the cost here? Having a 6/7/8/9 of some combination of Palencia/Cleavinger/Harvey/Maton is a legitimately really good group. Could you get him for like Hartshorn and a lesser lottery ticket?
  10. I wonder if he was just adamant about that 1 year deal and no one was willing to lose that draft pick for a single year.
  11. So we're getting to the point where if Gallen doesn't sign pretty quick I'm not sure I want him. The guys who have signed this late into the season have had a pretty bad performance history.
  12. If Rengifo ends up being as good as Shaw, then Shaw has been a huge disappointment.
  13. There's not one bat left in FA I'd put as an odds on favorite to put up a higher wRC+ than Mo this year.
  14. There is quite literally no other SP out there who makes any sense. None of Littell, Giolito, Scherzer, Montas, etc. are upgrades over Taillon. I guess Starling Marte is kind of interestingish if you squint, but you could probably get the same thing out of Tauchmann and even then is Tauchmann good enough to warrant mostly giving up on Alcantara?
  15. It makes no sense that Crosby would get 2 firsts. A younger better Khalil Mack got 2 1sts and a 3rd. A younger and better Micah Parsons got 2 firsts and a defensive tackle in Kenny Clark. Why should Crosby get a similar return to two better players then him who were both 3 years younger than Crosby at the time of the trade?
  16. The NFL doesn't need to convince people who are NFL fans to watch the Super Bowl. The NFL needs to convince people who aren't fans to watch the Super Bowl in order to become fans. They've already got the middle age to elderly white guy market covered, so why would they dedicate a half time show to that market? You'd think the business guru running the country would understand that.
  17. Now that's it's fairly safe to say that Nico and Shaw are going nowhere. I'd really like Gallen and to see if they could perhaps turn Taillon plus a prospect or eating some of Taillon's contract into a reliever with some control.
  18. It's officially a blowout
  19. Look I get Seattle defense is very good, but if Caleb turned in a game like Maye has so far, he'd get absolutely destroyed
  20. Sorry, when you're trying to compete for a WS I don't want a bounce back guy coming of a year like that getting hundreds of PAs.
  21. You want any of those guys getting 400+ PAs for the Cubs? I sure as heck don't. Ramon Urias is kind of tolerable, maybe I guess. Ramon Urias 87 wRC+ and 1.1 fWAR in 391 PAs Luis Rengifo- 73 wRC+ and 0.0 fWAR in 541 PAs Luis Urias 84 wRC+ and 0.1 fWAR in 330 PAs Jose Iglesias 73 wRC+ and 0.2 fWAR in 343 PAs
  22. I've lost so much respect for Izzo over the last 5+ years
  23. Fears once again being a cheap shotting little bitch. Three games in a row with this stuff and the NCAA will do nothing until someone gets significantly hurt and I hope they sue the hell out of the NCAA for failing to protect its players.
