  1. and that broken bat single brings all the Yadi hate back.
  2. Trying to have an important 5 minute plus interview should never be attempted during a game. It really feels like it's trivializing things.
  3. wow, hell of a job escaping that. I felt like that was going to be a big inning.
  4. I'm not even sure he's the #3 right now. Hammel is the only one I confidently start him over.
  5. Following today's 3HR game, Brian Dozier is now sitting at 38HR. He is now 4HR away from tying Roger Hornsby for the single season HR record by a second basemen. Even more impressive is that of those 38HR, 24 have been hit since the ASB(206AB). His post ASB line .320/.367/.723, that's a .442 wOBA or 180 wRC+
  6. Bryant has officially passed Trout in fWAR 7.3 to 7.1
  7. What did this say? Someone said Cubs fans always throw shade on Grichuk and they don't know why. Then someone responded saying something like they knew Grichuk was more valuable than Bryant last year and they don't forget it or something dumb like that. Is Grichuk even with the MLB team right now? He's been sent back down to AAA so many times I've lost track.
  8. I wouldn't mind filling CF with someone who can be a menace on the bases. Outside of COL Blackmon is probably only good for 10-15 HR, but he'd be the kind of guy who would be good for 25+ SB. Would be nice to have a guy who could put themself in scoring position during touch match ups. Rajai Davis would be another guy I wouldn't mind if Szczur or Almora is gone.
  9. An offensive juggernaut for sure, but I'm not sure if I like that OF defense. Schwarber and Soler are both at best average, most towards below average, while Heyward loses some of his defensive value going to CF where he's going to have to cover a whole lot of ground.
  10. Any concern with the fact that Rizzo only has 4HR in 135ABs since the ASB? He's still getting on base and he's still hitting fairly well(.831OPS), he's just not hitting dongs. Here's to hoping he starts getting it together for the playoff run and playoffs.
  11. I'd like to see if Hammel's option year could be dangled for a pitcher with more years of control. Something like Hammel+Candelario for De Leon,Y.Alvaraez,Musgrove or Martes. If that's not possible, then you almost have to deal one of Javy,Schwarber or Soler.
  12. I don't understand this need to trade away our good young players. SIgn FA starting pitching. Trade guys in the minors. Don't trade our big league guys. There is no one worth having in the 2016/2017 FA list and that's going to put a ton of pressure on them to add as many as 3 starters in 2017/2018FA
  13. Thanks god, if Wood/Chapman had blown this game I'd have spent the next week in the fetal position sobbing.
  14. I wonder how much value Hammel's 1 year option would bring from a contender. Something like Hammel to LAD for De Leon. One way or another Cubs need to get some under contract arms.
  15. Maybe I'm wrong, but did anyone else expect more HRs this year? Just looking at the numbers and the Cubs are tied for 13th with 144. I never would have bet the Mets,Rays and Cardinals would all be ahead of us.
  16. This was my exact first thought. I'll deal with the douchebag as long as Joe Smith never throws another pitch for the Cubs.
  17. Joe Smith has no business being on this roster come tomorrow. horsefeathering awful.
  18. How a person who throws a ball professionally cannot throw a strike 1 in 8 chances is just completely beyond me.
  19. I thought I saw somewhere that we are like 4th or 5th in HRs in the NL.. That was surprising considering we have 2 guys in the race for most NL HR's and seems like we are deep in HR hitters too. I think we have 5 over ten already? Which is pretty solid in this run environment. As far as HRs go, we've actually been a bit disappointing outside of Kris,Rizzo and Ross. Which is why I'm so optimistic about what the offense could become. There's still so much more room for improvement with Soler, Russell,Javy,Contreras, etc. Most likely none of them touch 20HR. In a couple seasons I think they'll all do it on a regular basis.
