  1. Start building up that immunity now. It's only going to get worse.
  2. The prospect stuff has taken a very noticeable nose dive. Case and point, I'm as big a Triantos fan as there is on this website, but even I find it laughably stupid to have Triantos as the #2 prospect in the system, while Cade Horton is #7 and Matt Mervis is #46.
  3. The funny part is they have the fan support. They're ready to ride into the playoffs with what they have if they can't land upgrades for guys like Prieto. It's prospect hugging at a level not even we hit in 2015-2017.
  4. If the Orioles aren't even willing to move guys like Basallo, Norby, Povich, etc. then they just aren't interested in acquiring anyone worth having, but have fun wasting those years of control for the guys they wont be able to pay later.
  5. Actually I kind of like this, I hadn't thought of this comp before. I think PCA might have a slightly worse hit tool, but it's pretty close.
  6. If I can't have nice things, I want the rest of the world to burn along with me
  7. This is basically the only time I'm ever going to do this, but I think it would be hilarious if the Cardinals took like 7 of 8 from the Cubs, where they then find themselves like 6 or 6.5 out of the division and they decide to buy instead of sell. They lose prospects in the trades and they lose the opportunity cost of have acquired prospects at the deadline.
  8. Pretty safe to say Mead, Bradley and Caminero are very unlikely to be available. Manzardo is the guy I think I'd insist on. He's more hit tool than pop, even so, he's still likely a 20, maybe even 25 HR guy. The Cubs probably have to sweeten the deal a bit, but he fills a hole and the timeline.
  9. Gilbert is a top 100 guy on a number of lists, though he does very little for me. What was supposed to be a 60 hit tool is more like a 50 hit tool. The power is more 45 than 50 or 55 and the defense is solid. He is fast, not elite fast, but definitely warrants his 60 tool. He torched A+(194 wRC+) to open the season, but has struggled in 226 AA PAs(82 wRC+) I'm not sure why they would even want Bielak. His peripherals are awful and getting worse each year. This would be supremely underwhelming for me.
  10. I haven't really thought about it, but what do we think PCA profiles as a hitter in MLB? Maybe a .275/.340/.440 guy with 15HR and 30 SB and elite CF defense? If he can pull that off, that's crazy valuable.
  11. Hmm, there's a legit chance that PCA might be your opening day CFer. Of course knowing the Cubs, they'll let Tauchmann be that guy for the first 4-6 weeks then bring up PCA.
  12. Mancini put it in play. Congratulations to him.
  13. Seiya has been on base 6 times in the last 12 innings.
  14. If I'm not concerned with proximity to mlb or position and only talent, I'd go with this. Stroman to Bal for Samuel Basallo and Seth Johnson If I'm trying to make the 2024 squad better, I'm throwing Stroman+Merryweather for Mayo and a lottery ticket.
  15. Where are we going to find enough thick onion gravy, jorts and black guys to give all the new people?
  16. I'm never openly believing in anything again.
  17. All the people coming over from PSD are going to have a fun time learning that lesson when dealing with the king of the hot takes.
  18. We're giving it life, since it could have ended with the first post just saying "Never"
  19. Keep building that hype train.
  20. a 145 wRC+ isn't dominant? Does he need to go all 2019 Ty France putting up a historic season with a 197 wRC+ before it's considered dominating? In AAA in 2022 his GB% was 38.7, in 2023 it's 38.2. In MLB terms, 38.2 GB% would put him 48th in baseball ahead or tied with Luis Roberts, Pete Alonso, Adley Rutschman, Paul Goldschmidt, Rafael Devers, etc.
  21. Why? What else is there for him to learn in AAA? He dominated it in 2022, he's dominating it again in 2023. It's time for him to sink or swim so they know if he's going to be a guy going forward.
  22. I give up on predicting with them. If I remember right they rank very high on number of 10+ run games this year and then for the next few games they'll do basically nothing until you're convinced the offense is dead and another 10+ run game happens.
  23. Yes, if you're going to imply he failed based on 99 PAs then I can also use a small sample size to say he was adjusting. The point being, there's zero reason he shouldn't be given another chance and he never should have been sent down to begin with.
