  1. While looking up ROY winners, I had no idea that the Dodgers had 5 ROY winners in a row. That is absolutely incredible. 1992: Eric Karros 1993: Mike Piazza 1994: Raul Mondesi 1995: Hideo Nomo 1996: Todd Hollandsworth The Dodgers also had a stretch of 4 in a row 1979: Rick Sutcliffe 1980: Steve Howe 1981: Fernando Valenzuela 1982: Steve Sax No other NL team has more than 2 in a row.
  2. I saw the thing about how they tracked how many hours he had done of film study on this tablet and he had watched literally zero hours. He was living off natural ability and put zero work in. That doesn't work in the NFL where everyone is supremely gifted and they work hard.
  3. Yes, I enjoyed the WBC, but I don't want it to have anything to do with the regular season.
  4. At this point Shaw has put a pretty big gap between himself and the #4 prospect in the system.
  5. I'm in total agreement. This feels like the WBC, only it actually effects the regular season.
  6. Matt Shaw sporting the .378/.410/.703 slash through 39 PAs, good for a 205 wRC+. Is that good? I think that might be good.
  7. Imagine the furor when he throws an incomplete pass and the world might just implode if he throws an INT, because every pass must be perfect regardless of result.
  8. The bat certainly looks the part. I wonder if he opens next year in AA. That would give him an ETA of early 2025 if things go well.
  9. It fascinates me that Fields can go 3-3 for 129 yards and 2 TDs and you can still only focus on a negative, that wasn't even that negative in the first place.
  10. Returning to the topic of team owners being total scumbags, the Orioles 's lease ends in December and to agree to New terms Angelos has made several demands. 1, he wants 900m instead of the previously discussed 600m for stadium renovations. 2, he wants the land around the stadium either given to him or highly subsidized so he can create something similar to Atlanta. Basically he wants what Ricketts did to the stadium/neighborhood, but he has the balls to ask the taxpayers to cover it all. I wonder what that must be like to have other people give you money so you can increase your revenue streams?
  11. Didn't you know, the only touchdowns that count for Fields are strikes thrown into tight coverage. Screens, rushes, etc. don't matter.
  12. He's quite a bit bigger than I thought, he's also decisive and hits the hole hard.
  13. It sure feels like the DBs are being very aggressive going for the ball
  14. I didn't realize Ebner was still around. Why would he get touches over Roschon Johnson?
  15. When you have a 91 wRC+ on a .641 babip with a 48.6 K% at this level at age 21, you better be careful or your career might be real brief.
  16. Absolute waste of a 3rd round pick
  17. Fields is probably done, right?
  18. The downfield blocking has been absolutely excellent
  19. The offense is really showing out
  20. Preseason so it doesn't mean a whole lot, but this defense, especially the dline, looks bad.
  21. Owning a sports team is the greatest investment ever. You get huge tax breaks, the vast majority of the stadiums are at least subsidized if not entirely funded by the taxpayers and the franchise value seems to double every 10 or so years.
  22. It's like the days of the Daytona Cubs where it felt like there were multiple rain outs weekly.
  23. So I suppose that Mike Lorenzen trade is working out ok for the Phillies. 2 GS 17IP 6H 2ER 10K 5BB including a no hitter last night Obviously with that K/9 and .111 babip that's not going to last, but that's about as good a start as you could hope for. For fun. Jeimer's line since joining the Cubs .485/.541/.727 good for a 246 wRC+
  24. That was my fault. I turned the game on, 5 seconds later Alonso bomb. I immediately turned it off.
  25. Not sure I like having a slumping Morel and Seiya plus K machine Wisdom all in the line up.
