  1. I feel like we're at the point where there's like a sub 5% chance the Cubs enter 2024 where I'm super excited by what they've done in the offseason, a 70% chance I'm like ok it's not exciting but it's ok and a 25% chance I'm wondering if they've improved at all over their 2023 roster.
  2. Bellinger was a HR Dansby was good Mancini was a disaster Hosmer was a disaster Barnhart was a disaster Smyly was bad Fulmer was I guess OK Boxberger was a disaster Edwin Rios was basically nothing Yeah, it wasn't good.
  3. That'll teach you to have expectations when it comes to the Cubs. Just grow old and cynical like me.
  4. They need to limit the lottery to like 10 teams. A team that finishes 1 game out of the playoffs should not have a chance at picking #1.
  5. An 82-80 team getting #2 is really gross.
  6. Maybe it won't take 2 months.
  7. What part was wrong? IP by year 2016: 23.1 2017: 62.0 2018: 111.2 2019 60.2 2020 57.1 2021 88.0 2022 6.2 2023 120.0
  8. I'd made peace with them being out on Ohtani/Soto/Yamamoto about a week ago. It's going to end up being pretty much what I thought it would be. Hoskins, Glasnow, Candy and some other 3rd tier guys.
  9. I'm not particularly high on Morel, but dear god would be that a horrific overpay.
  10. It was also Alonso's worst season where he was sporting a .207 babip and Glasnow's most IP in his professional career as well as the first time he's topped 100IP since 2018. You can safely expect one to trend positive while the other is likely to trend the other way.
  11. Alonso isn't being paid 25M and causing us to hope he plays for half a season
  12. Frankly I'd be real surprised if Yamamoto doesn't end up in New York. Which New York squad I don't know, but I'd put those 2 as the heavy favorites over the field.
  13. It would honestly be about as bad a decision as possible for baseball.
  14. I love that people at the winter meetings basically have no idea what's going on with Ohtani, but a popular answer for where he's going recently has been back with the Angels.
  15. Seeing that 3B is almost completely lacking in interesting options, I wonder what kind of package it would take to get TB to give up Glasnow+Paredes. If you use the trade calculator Paredes takes a massive haul to land, but I wonder if that's reality since he only has 1 really good year. If it's something like Alcantara+Wicks+Triantos I'd pull the trigger, but the trade calculator is thinking they'd have to add Shaw+Caissie too which seems crazy.
  16. Yes he can make good money staying in school, but he's also adding tremendous risk of injury/underperformance that could cost him 10s of millions in next year's draft.
  17. A QB I've never heard of just put up 354 Passing yards on 32-37. My inner Bear fan is weeping.
  18. I'd almost be surprised if Glasnow isn't a Cub at this point.
  19. Well this is incredibly ominous. Let's make up for missing on an elite player by throwing lots of money at much worse ones.
  20. This was the rumored ask from the Yankees and did not include 2 other unnamed prospects
  21. Zero interest in Soto based on the current asking price. They'd have to cut it in like half.
  22. Watch, after all this, we're going to find out 2 months from now that the Cubs's interest was nothing more than an inquiry phone call and they never even made an offer.
  23. Yeah, this almost definitely puts an end to that speculation
