  1. I'm not even sure he can hit as well as Dansby anymore. He was awful the last 2/3 of 2023.
  2. I can't think of about anything worse this offseason than signing Chapman to a 100M+ contract. That's going to be a disaster from year 1.
  3. So basically more of nothing.
  4. Yeah, if Olney knew, he'd have it plastered everywhere to get credit for breaking it.
  5. They've been attached to Yamamoto so much less than a handful of other teams, I'd frankly be pretty shocked if he ended up in Chicago.
  6. Please god don't let them miss Ohtani and then throw 200M at Bellinger.
  7. It would be supremely disappointing to miss all 3, but it wouldn't necessarily be a death sentence for 2024. What it would do is give very little to no margin for error in acquiring the 2nd and 3rd tier FA they need and getting creative with trades. With that said, if they miss all 3, I have very little confidence they'll do what needs to be done and the Cubs will enter 2024 with an over/under around 82-84.
  8. The odds are not going in a good direction
  9. I don't think I've ever seen a team acquire 4 new starting rotation members in a single offseason before.
  10. Yes, this is a more reasonable comparison than the Glasnow to Gilbert one earlier. I'd much rather add an additional big prospect and have Gilbert than pony up 2 of the top 10 for Cease.
  11. I can't envision a scenario under which Eberflus remains, barring ending with 7+ wins
  12. Those polls pretty much reflect my expectations. Eberflus and Getsy are gone, Pokes will stay and Fields will stay not necessarily on merit but more so because I think Poles would absolutely love to trade #1 again and acquire more picks.
  13. What would the Braves even offer? Their farm is bad. I mean I guess they could use Grissom, but I don't even know if that gets them half way there. They'd probably have to give up either Elder or Smith-Shawver too.
  14. Just reading the tea leaves, but I think Yamamoto is very unlikely and seems to be the main off season focus for a bunch of other teams, while he seems to be secondary to Ohtani for the Cubs. I do believe the Cubs are all in on Ohtani, but the Chicago sports fan in me has been stuck dealing with dumpster fires for too long to be optimistic on that front. I'm hoping for more but I'm expecting an offseason like Imanaga, Candelario and Hoskins.
  15. Can you imagine how pissed off this board is going to be if Jed whiffs on all 3 of Ohtani, Yamamoto and Soto after all this hype?
  16. Yeah, you're talking the difference between like Assad vs PCA+Morel+more. The acquisition gap is huge.
  17. I'm still in, I'll believe when I see it, when it comes to bumping up the payroll like that.
  18. Wasn't there also the KatyPerry handle a few years ago? We had the one guy here(Evenflow?) break I think the Jon Lester signing.
  19. It's not that I have high expectations for Wesneski, it's that I don't think it's very likely Glasnow provides any excess value beyond his 25M salary.
  20. A harder decision. He's just so bad against lefties that I don't even know if you could use him a reliever now that relievers need to face 3 batters or open an inning. With that said, he's very good against righties so that if he even reached just below average against lefties he'd have a long career.
  21. Nix wont be there, but you'd have a shot at Penix around there or you could probably get 1 of McCarthy, Daniels or Sanders in the 2nd.
  22. So, believe it or not, the Bears are up to 9th in defensive yards allowed at 318.5 a game. They're #1 against the rush at 79 ypg and up to 25th against the pass at 239.5. There's still a lot of questions on the other side of the ball, but the defense is really rounding into form.
  23. If the MLB ready pitcher is named Caleb Killian, I'm completely cool with that. I'm not even sure I'd be willing to give up Assad for the right to pay Glasnow $25M.
  24. I literally might vomit if Jed even considered this trade. From an MLBTR chat. Mariners 1:48 Matt Shaw and Christopher Morel to Seattle for Bryce Miller and Justin Tops? Steve Adams 1:48 I'm not as big on Morel as a lot of Cubs fans. I wouldn't take him as the headliner in a Miller deal, personally
