I know they don't have much to sell off, but good god Jed are we really keeping this entire horsefeathers show together and just hoping for better results in '25?

I mean, he's a slighty worse hitting, slightly worse defensive Seiya. Either Seiya needs to be replaced in RF by a guy who can not be a total liability out there or Seiya needs to stay in RF but the DH has to be a significant enough bat to make tolerating Seiya's defense more palatable.

So after an admittedly brief review, it looks like the slider and curve are nails, but the fastball is ass. This actually makes me kind of hopeful, This is something I think is right up the Cub pitch lab's alley.

I get it, it's not a huge exciting move, but there is upside in this move to become a backend of the bullpen arm for very little prospect cost. Getting a guy who could be a part of your 2025 roster for some prospect fodder is a good thing.

Looks like Agustin Ramirez is the guy headlining the package. I actually quite liked him as an option if Taillon had ended up heading to New York.

It's nothing major for sure, but this is the exact kind of guy who could become a Merryweather for us in 2025. The pen was already looking very exciting for 2025, if they can get Pearson ironed out, we could be talking one of the better pens around.

For the love of god Tom, this is exactly why people give you horsefeathers.

They're both fodder in my eyes. Rivera has been massively disappointing.
  9. Tryptamine
    Rivera was severely disappointing

Yohendrick Pinango is the guy going back.
  11. Tryptamine
I actually quite like this depending on the return. Pearson has very good stuff, he just gives up way too much hard contact.
  12. Tryptamine
Formerly a high level prospect, his MLB career has been a dud. High strikeouts, fairly high BB%, Very high HR/FB%. Stuff is there if they can Merryweather him.
  13. Tryptamine
Oh this is just about a guarantee. They'll still pick around 11th somehow.

Even if it's a 100 point of OPS type of bad luck, he still isn't very good. He needs to be a 130 wRC+ masher to provide value with his defense or if he wants to be a full time DH>

Their 12th loss in a row tonight. They had 14 in a row earlier this year.

The offense has scored 9 runs in 7 games since the ASB. I continue to double down on that every dollar of FA money needs to go into bats.

I'd be absolutely baffled by moving Seiya unless Jed is all in on Soto this offseason.

Is it really that hard just to say, " I like Brady and think he's very good, I wish we would trade for him" rather than what's above?
  19. Tryptamine
Pretty much this. Cub tickets could be $10 and I'm still not going because I refuse to let Ricketts have my money.

This seems like a significant win for Philly. "Hays hit just .111/.200/.111 in 50 trips to the plate prior to that IL stint but has returned with an excellent .313/.363/.509 slash in 125 subsequent plate appearances" He's pretty consistently around 105-110 wRC+, under control for 2025 and is ok in LF with the ability to fill in at CF if need be.

I thought the Yankees were under financial constraints? I can't imagine them risking taking on Cody for more than 2024.
  22. Tryptamine
I don't know about the last month or so, but I had read something that Roki had been pulled earlier from back to back starts with unidentified arm issues.
  23. Tryptamine
Agreed. Alcantara has a much lower K%, is younger, is putting up better numbers at the same level and is a far better player defensively and many want him dealt. I just don't see what the Yankees could give up for Nico. I guess Dominguez, but I would find that highly unlikely.
  24. Tryptamine
Tauchmann seems like a no brainer to trade for me, but what would the Yankees give up that would make Nico worth dealing? Jed has already said he wants pieces aimed at improving 2025+. The Yankees are supposedly reluctant to include Spencer Jones in any deal for Skubal so he certainly wouldn't be involved, plus the Cubs already have better Spencer Jones in Kevin Alcantara.

I'm sure there are teams out there who might be OK with him staying in the rotation all year. The big issue is not that he wants to stay in the rotation all year, but that not only do you have to give up a huge package to trade for him, he then wants a contract extension if you want him to pitch in the playoffs. What team is going to part with that type of trade package for the right to give a huge contract extension to a guy who has never thrown a full season at the MLB level?
