  1. Mediocre arm isn't what you want to hear. You can improve catching technique, framing technique, pop time, etc. , but how much can you really do to strengthen his throwing arm? If he can't stick behind the plate that makes me so much less interested.
  2. What has been the most Hayden Simpson pick in the MLB draft since then? Is it Barret Loux or am I not remembering that right?
  3. That Hayden Simpson pick is still the most baffling draft pick I've ever seen the Cubs make. If he was a guy say ranked in the 50's you could say oh it's just a significant under slot , but BA had Simpson ranked barely inside their top 200 if I remember correctly. It was just such an obscure pick and a clear case of trying to be the smartest guy in the room.
  4. Unfortunately I can't envision any scenario that would allow the Cubs to poach one of Westburg/Holliday/Mayo from Baltimore, to be the 3B for the next decade, that doesn't involve Steele.
  5. That was the first park I thought of too, now that Camden changed their left field wall. He might put up cartoonish numbers.
  6. Baltimore's offense is way too stacked to be held down long and with Shota scuffling a bit lately along with facing Burnes, I'd put them as heavy heavy underdogs today. I do think they have around a 50/50 shot tomorrow.
  7. I feel like you could get JD Martinez for half the annual price and half the years. I'd happily hand him a 2/28 or 2/30 deal in 2025, considering he's on a 1/12 deal right now.
  8. I'm with you on Morel. I know there are a few Morel super fans who aren't going to like it, but as far as I'm concerned, you absolutely cannot expect Morel to be a starter in 2025. Whether it's via him being traded, optioned or simply acquiring a FA where he becomes a bench player. It's nice that the BB% is up and the K% way down, but it has come at the cost of his quality of contact. LD% is down, FB% is down, HR/FB% is down, SOFT% is up, MED% is up, HARD% is down. I know the metrics suggest he should see some improved results, but he's going to have to see a significant surge in results to make up for that defense.
  9. Yup. I don't know that he's Rizzo 2.0, but he certainly looks like a guy who could be a foundation piece for the next half decade.
  10. The vomit emoji doesn't portray enough how much I would hate this.
  11. I mean Seiya is putting up a 123 wRC+ and on 3.2 fWAR/162 pace. Poor defense or not, I'm not exactly looking to move on from that.
  12. So interesting piece of information that isn't directly related to the Cubs, but would impact them. Pittsburgh sports writer Dejan Kovacevic said the following in an article Pittsburgh getting Holliday would be scary, but I find the idea of the trio of Skenes/Jones/Keller for the next 5+ years even scarier.
  13. Busch up to a 137 wRC+ and 2.2 fWAR. That 137 wRC+ puts him 4th in baseball for 1B with at least 100 PAs behind Bryce Harper, Lamonte Wade and Freddie Freeman. That 2.2 Fwar is 4th behind Harper, Freeman and Walker.
  14. If you're going into 2025 where your position roster is looking like C- Amaya 1B- Busch 2B- Nico SS- Dansby 3B- FA RF- Seiya CF- Cody LF- Happ DH- Morel Then where else are you going to put a big bat other than DH? There's no big bat options at 3B unless you think Bregman is going to find a time machine.
  15. So I've seen it mentioned numerous time that the type of returns the Marlins want for guys that are available is prospects at least a few years away from the majors. That makes me think we set up pretty well to do some buying without having to touch any of the guys who we expect to contribute in 2025/2026. I'd love to go and grab Braxton Garrett or even Edward Cabrera. I'd also have significant interest in Andrew Nardi.
  16. It really was bad for someone who makes a living doing this. Like ok, I can get not listing Triantos because the defense is probably going to take a miracle for that to happen, but Shaw shouldn't be questionable at all and he's slightly better than a "35". Also, apparently Jefferson Rojas doesn't exist in his universe. so a 55 and 50, but yeah, no one above 35.
  17. Because defense and baserunning don't count in some people's minds so all they see is a league average bat with minimal power.
  18. Run doesn't come home from 3B on a pitch to the back stop
  19. Equally good AB by Nido. This team has way too many hitters who don't even have competitive at bats.
