  1. I don't know that I'm ready to do it just yet, but he's certainly not far outside my top 10 right now. I'd really like to see him get a month in A+ before the this season finishes out.
  2. Just based on putting stroke alone, there's no way he's under an 18 handicap
  3. As someone who lived on a golf course between caddying/playing probably 500 rounds a year for nearly all my youth, I have never seen anything like the way he finishes his putting stroke. It's like he's trying to put top spin on the ball. Also, he hits several of those putts so far off flush it's amazing. One of them is is a solid 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch towards the toe of the putter.
  4. Is this finally him starting to put it all together? That slash line he has put up since his disastrous first 8 games would put him in top 20 prospect discussions. Prior to tonight .307/.357/.465 141wRC+ 7.2BB% and 25.5K% in AA and he turned 22 11 days ago.
  5. It's a step up from what he faced in college. Think of it as a brief minor league stint before he hits the bigs.
  6. Ok let's give him the cherry picked date of 5/12, he's been basically a league average hitter at AAA in his age 24 season. I fail to see the reason for enthusiasm.
  7. It really baffles the mind. So he won't play game 1 and starters notoriously don't play in the last preseason game. So we're going to have a rookie QB, in a year where the playoffs are realistic, throw maybe 20 passes before week 1. Sounds like a great plan, he certainly doesn't need extra time to get acclimated to the NFL or anything.
  8. Since June 1st he has a .227/.340/.371 line good for an 88 wRC+. He's had a good July, that's about all.
  9. I've said this before, but I'd absolutely love to steal a 3B from Baltimore. Gunnar isn't moving off SS so they have Westburg, Holliday and Mayo(iffy defense) who can play 3B. The issue is, outside of Steele, I don't think there's any piece they could move to land them.
  10. Just to kind of put a number on it, but I feel like if he finishes the year with a wRC+ in excess of 115, he's currently at 108, he's just about definitely gone. Right now he's kind of in that area where I'm not sure, but I'd lean towards him staying.
  11. What other sport or position does this happen in? In baseball no one is a bench player for a few years, has a mediocre first half then an all-star second half and then gets a 300M contract based on that one half of performance.
  12. It's crazy to want more than 8 games of high level performance before dropping a quarter of a billion dollars on a guy and significantly hamstringing your payroll flexibility for the duration of the contract?
  13. I'd hope so. As a rookie he's going to need all the lives snaps he can get before week 1.
  14. I'm trying not to get too hyped since we know Caleb is going to throw like 2 passes before he's out of the game.
  15. I'd deal Taillon+Leiter for Teel and a lottery ticket. The only downside is you probably don't see Teel until very late 2025 or early 2026.
  16. The ask is apparently pretty significant given that you'd have him for 3.5 more years. I mean if you can get it done using Caissie and other lower end parts, by all means. Rooker is pretty much who we hope Caissie becomes anyway.
  17. Yeah, perhaps he should be focusing on his career 73 wRC+ instead. The guys about 100 PAs from being a DFA candidate.
  18. I don't see it as nuking the roster when one guy, who was a top 30 prospect, is already in the big leagues putting up a 156 wRC+ and the other is a top 20 prospect in AAA putting up a 143 wRC+ and who is MLB ready right now. Yeah you lose the certainty of Steele, but you gain two potential all-star level bats, one of which comes at a position of extreme need.
  19. I have no issues with dangling Steele and I don't think Hoyer is going to make a move unless it's an undeniable win package. If a team like the Orioles decides to go all in on a pitcher with control, since they'll be losing Burnes this offseason, and throws a package headlined by Mayo+Kjerstad then of course you talk. I think the reality is that no one is going to offer up the kind of package that moving Steele would actually make sense.
  20. Seems incredibly counterintuitive to get rid of Leiter from a pen that has struggled so hard. Yes they have a lot of guys to be optimistic about, but Leiter is nails when he's not being pitched into the ground. The return would have to be something fairly significant..
  21. So things I'm noticing. Steele is massively underrated by other fans. Also, other fan bases think Happ is a contract the Cubs would have to eat part of to get rid of him. I found both of these things absolutely baffling. By the end of 2024 Happ will probably have put up around 10 fWAR over the last 3 yeas. In that time span amongst LFers with at least 300AB, Happ's 8.6 fWAR puts him 6th.
  22. 1 good season and he's already holding out for a massive contract. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40616528/jordan-love-practice-deal-packers-optimistic
