  1. It's the upside that I think is a tier or two above the others and upside it what the rotation needs.
  2. Which comes back to my original point that missing on Kikuchi sucks, especially if they intend to add 2 SP. edit: We more or less know they aren't in on Burnes/Fried/Snell. I'd be highly surprised if they were in on Flaherty. That meansif they're shopping in FA for a pitcher, they're shopping for a guy in the back half of the rotation unless a miracle of all miracles happens and Sasaki picks the Cubs.
  3. Another chance to be embarrassed in the national spotlight. Such fun.
  4. Probably true, and I'd 100% let the new HC choose his own staff. I was simply saying, if the new HC did, by chance, keep him as the OC I wouldn't mind.
  5. He's also a guy who doesn't have Bellinger's upside with the bat, not since 2020 anyway, nor any of his defensive value.
  6. A team that might actually win more than 84+ games and make the play offs without hoping for a lot of positive variance to do so.
  7. God we really love mediocre don't we.
  8. I don't see how moving Bellinger as a salary dump makes any sense given that this is a mediocre offense as is. I found it dubious they'll be able to trade him for whoever and still add an equal or better players for any time of particularly notable cash savings. So let's say you trade Bellinger for Castillo Bellinger makes 27.5M this year, Castillo makes 22.75. So, for 2025, you come out 4.75M ahead, but then you need to replace Bellinger's bat. Pete Alonso is going to set you back probably 20-25M annually, so will Santander and neither of them bring anything defensively nor the positional versatility.
  9. But it's not just Assad. It's also Wicks. By mid season it could also be Horton or Birdsell Even if we label Brown a reliver going forwards there are multiple options that don't take almost 1/3 of the available money.
  10. I can't believe how many people are ready to hand Thomas Brown the HC position based on 2 games. I could see potentially OC, if the new HC wants him, but head coach? How desperate are these people for any modicum of success?
  11. I don't particularly want Assad in the rotation either, but with the types of guys they're likely looking at in FA at this point Manaea/Bieber/Gibson/etc. are they really enough of an upgrade to use 15M of the 50M in payroll for that upgrade?
  12. I don't see them adding 2 SP especially if it's 2 guys slotting behind Steele/Shota. Why use resources on a slot that can filled by a combination of Wicks/Briwn/Assad/etc.
  13. Which is completely reasonable if they're going to actually use the 50M they have to spend elsewhere, but where? A back up catcher, a relief arm and a platoon bat surely isn't going to soak up 50M.
  14. Assuming the rumors are true that the Cubs won't even be in on Burnes, Snell and Fried, Kikuchi was one of the only arms that offered the upside the Cubs need in the rotation. There's basically Flaherty left and that's it now on the FA market. Of course Jed will inevitably add someone and it will be someone who we're going to question if they're even any better than Assad.
  15. Sure enough, this is what people are running with. Not that Caleb is the only reason they got to OT, not that the vaunted defense completely crumbled, but one play in OT where he tried too long to make a play happen.
  16. I'm 100% with you on the defense. That was laughably awful.
  17. On the deer in the headlight play, 2nd down, I can tell you exactly what he saw. Swift was a blocker on that play, but when Caleb couldn't find anyone open, swift jumped off his assignment and went like 5 yards down field, which Caleb saw. Unfortunately their were defenders in the way, so Caleb tried to make a window to make the throw but it took so long he should have just gotten rid of it instead.
  18. God look at what a competent coach in Payton has done for Denver and namely Bo Nix. They're 7-5 now, Bo is on 4K yard pace and is probably going to win Rookie of the year with a fraction of the talent surrounding him.
  19. Hancock wouldn't even make the Cub rotation if the season started today. His names carries value based on his draft position, but he's been disappointing since then and especially hot garbage the last season and a half.
  20. I'm irrationally hoping that the stars align and Mason Graham ends up a Bear in 2025, I know it's not happening. Spend the Carolina 2nd on OL, Use their 2nd on a safety. @UMFan83 Make this happen.
  21. The Commanders pulling a Chicago, that had to be heart breaking. 89 yard TD pass with little time remaining to potentially tie the game up. Then miss the extra point forcing you into an onside kick which is returned for a TD.
  22. Caleb Williams after today 2356 Passing Yards 11 TD 5 INT 62.6 Comp% on pace for 3641 Passing Yards 17 TD 8 INT, the yardage right about where we hoped, the INT pace is very good the TD pace is a bit low, but certainly not numbers to be disappointed in.
  23. In my eyes, Thomas Brown is real close to having done enough to be the OC next year, but that's 100% up to whoever they bring on as HC.
  24. There's going to be a lot of people hyper focused on that Caleb sack ignoring he was great the rest of the game.
