  1. Better not be a lot more. Certainly no one in the top 10.
  2. There's no question Basallo has the higher ceiling on power, but Ballesteros has the better hit tool which should allow him to maximize his power.
  3. This is where guy from BTV tells us it needs to be Nico+Shaw+ to get Miller.
  4. Nope, hold me responsible for a typo. 2021-2024
  5. It's been 5 seasons for Boyd, let's not pretend like he's being mislabeled injury prone because of one injury.
  6. I just don't see a realistic scenario that moving Cody in what's basically a salary dump makes the Cubs better. It's going to cost them 20M just to replace the bat, let alone the positional versatility.
  7. So I'm curious, what makes Basallo a top 10 prospect and Ballesteros more like a top 50 prospect? 2024 Age 19 season at AA for Basallo .289/.355/.465 134 wRC+ 2024 Age 20 season at AA for Ballesteros .299/.372/.495 154 wRC+ Both have significant doubts they'll be catchers, both have horrendous speed, Ballesteros strikes out at a lower rate 14.8% vs 19.% Ballesteros walks at a slightly higher rate 9.9% vs 9.2% I know Basallo is a year younger, but Ballesteros did outperform him this year. The one major difference is Basallo is pretty huge physically compared to Ballesteros. Basallo has the future power advantage while Ballesteros has hit tool advantage.
  8. Shaw and Smith I'd do everything in my power to keep out of a deal, I'd try real hard on Ballesteros too but I could be convinced based on the other pieces going. They could easily get something done with 2 of Caissie/Triantos/Rojas/Alcantara going as well as a nice 3rd piece from further down the farm
  9. The White Sox are 100% going to want position players so some combination of Alcantara/Caissie/Triantos/Rojas is what I'd be dangling. I'd very much like to keep Shaw/Cam/Ballesteros out of a deal. Something like Caissie+Triantos/Rojas+Southisene is a lot of position player talent.
  10. 2 of the first 3 picks absolutely must be EDGE and oline. What they do with the 3rd could be another from DL, Safety or even more Oline
  11. As long as it's not like mock draft who had the Bears taking Ashton Jeanty in the first. Dude is incredible, but man would I be pissed if they used a borderline top 10 pick on a RB.
  12. Joe Brady's supposed big selling point is he has apparently taught Allen to limit turnovers, not that Caleb has an issue with this at all anyway. He's also turned the Buffalo running game around. Frankly he's not particularly exciting to me.
  13. I guess I wouldn't be super shocked since they were supposedly in on Ohtani until the end, but I'd still be surprised https://www.mlb.com/news/juan-soto-rumors
  14. It still pisses me off that due to that ghost runner nonsense, a pitcher can come in, induce a ground, flyout and strike out and still lose the game.
  15. At least Ben Johnson actually calls the plays. Nagy was carried by Reid who did all the play calling.
  16. Manfred, taking baseball closer and closer to blernsball everyday.
  17. He hit 7 HR in the offensive wasteland that was the Southern League last year, so I think there's something there. Will it ever exceed 15 HRs? Probably not, but 10-15 HR would be acceptable given the rest of his package.
  18. If the reports that he went from unplayable anywhere on defense to maybe an above average defensive player at 2B are true, then he's a fairly exciting player. With his contact skills and baserunning, if he could even find 15 HR pop, he might be a guy who could give you consistent 3 to 4 fWAR seasons.
  19. Wait, wtf? Like I get the other 3, but why Miller? The guy just threw 62 innings of 2.32 ERA ball and yeah he pitched above his peripherals, but even if he regresses he'd still a solid pen arm. I am completely baffled as to how he got included in that.
  20. Both McCaffrey and his back up Mason will be headed to the IR, so the Bears will be facing SF's 3rd string RB.
  21. Yeah Sugano had something absurd like a 5.5K/9 in Japan, there is no way that's going to work in MLB.
  22. The fact that Thaiss stands a pretty good shot at being your opening day back up catcher and 1/3 of the FA money was spent on a guy who you're going to be lucky to get 100 innings from, makes me think he's not going to be too urgent about anything.
  23. I know I know, Busch trade last year, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jed doesn't make a trade at all and you're going into 2025 with a rotation of Steele/Shota/Taillon/Boyd and one of Assad/Wicks. I have very low expectations for Jed, if he exceeds them I guess I get to be surprised.
  24. Still not sure why people are so eager to make guys like Paredes/Busch/Hoerner trade bait or back up players. They combined for like 10 fWAR last year.
  25. Again, who is this great GM coming to the Bears knowing that they don't get to pick their own coach and they have to deal with a meddling owner? It's not that I think poles is great, it's that I think, given the situation, he's probably as good as it's going to get thanks to this horsefeathers organization.
