  1. Only a few years, and two are already out of baseball.
  2. In his defense, he's been a part of some terrible organizations since he left the Cubs. Baltimore, Cincy, and now Washington. It's pretty tough to change bad habits when you have coaches from any of those organizations teaching you how to get better at baseball. I hope he can turn it around and stay in baseball for a few more years. I thought he might have made some sense for the ChiSox before the season started, but after watching him last night, I'm not sure he has even a few more games in MLB. Those were some of the worst ABs I've seen in years. He's totally overmatched.
  3. Gordons over team control for a few years, and nowhere near his ceiling. Teahens on a 1 year deal. Teahen isn't a Free Agent until after 2011. That is simply a horrifyingly bad deal for the Royals. Teahen has more value than Guzman, Mahay and Cruz have much more value than "salary throw-in", and Freel has zero value to anybody. Every BacktoBanks trade proposal is a horrifyingly bad deal for the other teams involved.
  4. Don't think this move will save them from 110+ losses, but Corey's probably the best defensive CF in their org, so more power to him. I still say Corey Patterson Nissan of Naperville has a nice ring to it.
  5. You have got to be kidding me Nope. That mustache is real.

  7. His one cheek there looks like it's trying to hatch fish eggs or something. Good crikey. Has there ever been a serious explanation of his facial deformities? That [expletive] can't be healthy.

  9. Never heard of that one. I thought it was the SkyDome.
  10. He would have been useful if he had just learned to lay off of those eyes-high fastballs. Considering all of the guys that find ways to stick in the league he should be able to as well at least as a defensive replacement/pinch runner type of role. No team can afford to carry an outfielder with a sub .600 OPS, no matter how outstanding his defense may be. Escpecially one who's slowing down (9 CS in 23 attempts for '08). Considering that guys like Milledge, Pie, and possibly Maybin could be had, it makes even less sense.
  11. A .391 OPS so far for Syracuse. $1600/mo. in MiLB. Couldn't he make more money marketing himself as a former Cub and selling cars? It's very difficult to imagine any scenario that would allow him another major-league AB. There were some big Corey fans here, but this guy is done.
  12. They lost to the Cards. Sportsman's Park had all those powerhouse Cards' teams, a one-armed man in the WS for the Browns, and Eddie Gaedel. Lot's to choose from.
  13. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090430&content_id=4504038&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Rotoworld: Have to give him credit for trying.
  14. There have to be more than two Blues fans here. Kujay? Wolf? TT?
  15. Why do they insist on killing two birds with one stone? This could be a terrible move. The Sox should just sign Patterson (on the condition Ozzie has to pencil him in at #9 every single game, or face immediate termination) and put Ramirez at "leadoff". They'll at least get fantastic defense and the occasional HR, if nothing else.
  16. The heavily embellished accent is nails on a chalkboard by itself. Still less suicide inducing than Harry Teinowitz though.
  17. Please. You've never known anyone who sees everything through the prism of personal income? This country's full of them. It doesn't necessarily make him soulless, and I'm sure he felt some grief, but let's not pretend there was no calculation on his part. This is also taken with the assumption that you actually know Boras and what he is like. Boras doesn't have the best image, but your are also talking about the tragic death of a kid. The fact that you can make this sure of a judgment on someone you don't know shows your character as well. If the story of Adenhart can bring people who never knew him to tears, I am pretty sure it can his agent as well. The last thing I need is someone like you casting aspersions on my character. You think Boras is Mr. Smith, fine. So is that really any different that what you are doing with Boras? I think its very very possible that Boras has a strong relationship with many of his clients. If you want to believe that Boras woke up, saw the news and it had no effect on him what so ever, then started to think about how he can personally milk the situation for his own personal gain, then I feel sorry you. You didn't read everything I wrote.
  18. Pierre can't play CF anymore. As terrible a hitter he is, Patterson would make more sense for the Sox. At least he'll be cheap.

  21. A wannabe Jerry Maguire moment if I've ever seen one. I don't think Boras could give you a handshake without running an ROI analysis beforehand.
  22. The hit and run driver must have been flying. And that must have been one hell of a minivan he was driving; he killed every occupant in the other car but was not only able to flee, but flee successfully. I'm assuming Adenhart's car was an Evo, as that's the only Mitsubishi worth having. They're small, but I'm surprised everyone died.
  23. That website is excruciating. Here's more brilliance from another top contributor: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/145976-the-dodgers-outfield-the-case-for-juan-pierre oh, and he's hiring writers and models for his little website, if anyone's looking for work: http://heavenlydevils.com he certainly needs to leave the writing to someone else.
  24. This guy makes some excellent points. I look forward to following his promising journalism career.
  25. lol at the comments on that link.
