  1. So Mayweather is angry at HBO because he agreed to a below-market contract? He has nobody to blame but himself. It should be ancient history; he signed the contract as a teenager with Arum as his agent. The networks quit signing fighters to exclusive contracts back in '02, but Floyd is still pissed, hence his argument with Merchant. The only reason he still fights on HBO is because he's still under contract with Golden Boy. Don't be surprised if the Paquiao fight is a Showtime production.
  2. When I saw the headlines on Yahoo about a reality tv star turned pro, I thought TMZ had belatedly dug up something on Romo.
  3. Just put the poor guy in the booth already. What's it gonna take, him in a wheelchair?
  4. Ortiz kissed him. He was clowning around and the environment got to him. Floyd took advantage like any pro would.
  5. what? I'm showing empathy for your plight. Tarver's got himself on auto with little regard for where he fires, yet he isn't hitting anything. He's like imb with a leg cramp. 8.1
  6. I still think it's all being driven by football media revenue. I don't know how the teams could come up with their own tourney and keep all these other schools out. Coming from another Big Ten alum. Where's OMC or Vance? Let's compare academic stats with those goofball southern schools. ? I was trying to drum up some solidarity with us Big Ten alums but now that he called me homeless forget it
  7. I still think it's all being driven by football media revenue. I don't know how the teams could come up with their own tourney and keep all these other schools out. maybe the Big Ten teams will just drop out like most of their alumni. Hit a little close to home, did I? its just that every time I see a homeless man, I think "there lies another tragic University of Indiana failure.." we're just not equipped socially to land in those posh places like Grand Rapids. Yeah, St. Paul is very cosmopolitan.

  10. Temple is an NBA mill? Not really, but they produce more basketball players than they do football. See Chuck's post above. Temple currently is in the MAC for football only, while in the A-10 for all other sports. So my idea could be the same: MAC for football, Big East for everything else. Same for Memphis if they were to replace Butler. I think Temple plays their home football games on a gravel parking lot. Your idea's fine, problem is the NCAA is a [expletive] joke.
  11. Bobby Knight, the underemployed turn a lonely eye to you
  12. Indi-who? I prefer [expletive] on Indiana...but why are people supposed to talk about them when the topic is conference realignment??? We're not, I'm just pissed my school has become such an afterthought.
  13. Indi-who? I thought architects had longer memories.
  14. Temple is an NBA mill? Not really, but they produce more basketball players than they do football. See Chuck's post above.
  15. And I love how everyone keeps forgetting Indiana in all this. Just keep sleeping on us...
  16. Yeah Chuck, but nobody goes to Memphis or Temple to play football. They're NBA mills. And they'll be competitive/dominant in any conference they want to go.
  17. Where does Memphis basketball fit into that scenario? In the SEC so Tennessee can have a natural rival. Makes sense, but Memphis is a much better program than Tennessee. I'd rather see Memphis in the ACC or big 12. They might lose, but with Memphis you know you're always guaranteed a show. They're the anti-Spurs.
  18. Where does Memphis basketball fit into that scenario?
  19. Surrreeeee you are Jeffy. Havnt seen this posted. You never know, this could be their scheduled year to build a champion to then burn it down before the rings are even engraved. Huizenga was the only guy who did that.
  20. Is the NCAA completely powerless? Don't these idiots realize as long this situation remains tenuous the attention will be on the uncertainty and not good football? Maybe it's time for a new national governing body.
  21. I don't understand the larger point you're making here. All this conference realignment nonsense needs to be sorted out soon.
  22. You'll get your all-catholic basketball conference that will have an automatic bid, don't worry. Have you addressed the farce your alma mater took part in this past weekend yet? What a joke. Wasn't it just a few years ago when Pinkel was bitching about Nebraska and Oklahoma State's strength of schedule? Their schedule consists of 10 BCS schools(4 home, 5 road, 1 neutral), last year's MAC champion, and an FCS school. The fact that they happened to pick a pretty bad FCS school is hardly a reason to complain about their schedule. Sure, and everyone does it, but it reminded me of the '90's when Mizzou was a doormat and they'd schedule any [expletive] team they thought was an easy W the few times channel 11 sent a camera to Columbia. They're national now, they should act like it.

  24. Ortiz is a tomato can compared to Mayweather, but Floyd is right: you have to protect yourself at all times. Floyd has had a bone to pick with HBO for over a decade (rightly), because his first contract locked him into more fights at a lower gross than other fighters under their banner like Roy Jones, David Reid, and Tito Trinidad, despite Floyd having to face far superior opposition. For years he was making about the same as Fernando Vargas, which is an insult considering Mayweather's talent.
  25. a Yeah, I'm sure you won't miss a future HOFer who's just entering his peak. We'll deal with his D. Have fun watching the spectacle all the volatile personalities on your squad will provide next year when the losing starts. It's great you're so enamored with defense, Carlos Pena is about the best 1B you can hope for. Be sure to come back around and let us know how that works out.
