  1. They have one of the highest payrolls in the league and play in an absolute shithouse division. They should be in the postseason almost every year.
  2. No vitriol. I'm just sick of hearing about how great it is to get in the playoffs back-to-back for the first time in a million years. This team's history isn't relevant to what they're doing now.
  3. Yeah, let's all get down on ours knees and pray at the altar of Jim Hendry. This team has more resources than all but four other teams in the league. We should be "ecstatic that were this close"? Ditch the loser mentality, buddy.
  4. So with that logic we just bench the entire team I guess? Nice. Many of them, sure. Why would you be opposed to letting Marmol, Z, and Ramirez, and Lilly take off early?
  5. Red Sox 2009 opening day payroll: $121,745,999 Cubs 2009 opening day payroll: $134,809,000. I was referring to the decade as a whole. They outspent the Cubs prior to '08. True, but the gap had been closing and the Cubs eventually surpassed Boston this year. I don't think that constitutes a "different stratosphere" at all. Which only strengthens my argument. Hendry can't point at a lack of resources.
  6. Mike & Mike suck ass. Did they forget GIDPs?
  7. There's pit pat! This team's so good, they're [expletive] good!

  9. First of all I don't think adults are calling a toddler the n word. I tried to picture a scenario in which an adult could direct that kind of angry aggression towards a little tyke. All I could picture was a 3 year old version of MB brooding and stomping around which could totally be reality but I still can't see that prompting racial slurs upon him. Or this is MB's kid. http://slicedbreadtwo.com/images/uploads/thats_racist.gif I really hope no one believes this BS.
  10. I'd compare them more to the Angels, Cards, or Sox. The Yanks and Bosox are in a different stratosphere re: payroll.
  11. It was Black, but the Padres wanted to resign Bradley before he went to Texas.
  12. IMHO Cameron would= the 2009 equivelant of Jeromy Burnitz except that he's nothing like jeromy burnitz in any way Hes over the hill, mediocre at best, and we dont need him. Thats all the similarity I need. We already have 2 strong defensive outfielders who are streaky offensively. Two?
  13. I just don't see how his position is tenable past the ownership transition. He's been given almost a decade in a top 5 market and has nothing to show for it but a multitude of questionable contracts which have the potential to hamstring this team for years to come. And the "playoffs two years in a row" argument is not only tiresome but irrelevant. This team has consistently had one of the highest payrolls throughout his tenure. I'm not sure why some people need to see more of this.
  14. Do you think Hendry deserves to keep his job?
  15. Im pretty sure that not everyone of his teammates like him and his antics, showing them up, etccc. Lets ask Michael Barret his opinion, or the countless number of OF's hes showed up. You have an intense dislike for Zambrano, we get it. Thats the thing I dont have a dislike for Z at all. See Derwoods post to see why Im bringing Z up in this discussion. I cant believe it's that hard for some of you people to see that. Its shouldnt be that hard to understand. Fine, but it's also not hard understand that Z is more valuable to the club and has 60 mil left on his contract.
  16. But it's impractical. I would've preferred to see Bradley DL'd, but he was gone anyway. You can't suspend a guy with 3/60 left.
  17. Or just shut down Wells and Ramirez entirely.

  19. Yeah, everything I've read suggests Wade has wanted to blow it up since he got there, but Mcclane is reluctant to "throw in the towel" whatever that means. Not like that team has had a chance in hell in years.
  20. Jesus that was a bad show. Holly Robinson performing nude wouldn't have made it work. Token programming at it's worst.
  21. And I can't understand why people continue to argue about this. He's out of here; better to argue about what the team should get in return.
  22. How is it "outweighing" his production? How is it not "outweighing" his production? Reality? The perceptions of the fans should not dictate the removal of a useful player just because he's a jerk. There's absolutely nothing that shows that his behavior or attitude has been detrimental to the team's play. Nothing statistically, but every writer in town has alluded to it being a problem.
  23. This is what I'm thinking, if you're gonna dream, dream big. They could be 4 GB and 3 in the loss column by the end of the weekend in the DIVISION. I hope you had your tongue planted firmly in your cheek when you posted this.
  24. Wow is right. Dreyfus was on another planet. He knew nothing about baseball and most of his random comments made absolutely no sense. Was at the game last night and bumped into Dreyfus. He was totally wasted. He had a legendary (even by Hollywood standards) drug problem.
  25. Yea, there's no pressing reason to trade him -- but like I said, if some team comes along and makes an offer (like vazquez and escobar), do you take it, assuming he waives his ntc? The Braves are moving Vazquez or Hudson because of salary restrictions and a surplus of pitching. The deal you proposed is both ridiculously one-sided and ill-informed, but considering the other absurd Cub rip-offs you think up, I'm not too surprised.
