  1. Best of the lot
  2. UGH. Please let that die "Bromance" it is then Not as bad, but still vomit-inducing.
  3. Forget Doran, we don't have the prospects to land him. Someone like Lou Merloni would fit the bill nicely.
  4. It was 2nd best. That quote still cracks me up. Had I been in the room when he spouted that BS, I'd be laughing my ass off.
  5. He's from Belleville. It all makes sense now
  6. De La Hoya has the most appearances, but Gatti's up there. Anybody else remember his fight with Joey Gamache? He damn near killed him. It was that fight that provided the impetus for same day weigh-ins.
  7. To be fair, he hasn't signed Juan Gone or traded Beltran for Teahen yet.
  8. They're definitely the poorest crimimal planners ever. Whatever happened to cutting the brake lines? Contract killer while establishing an alibi?
  9. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_ylt=AqdvUSE887ZY7FxiP1WW1005nYcB?slug=ap-gatti-death&prov=ap&type=lgns This is getting ridiculous. Who next?

  11. I'm sure Big Z would welcome him back with open arms. Or maybe closed fists. Who knows, but maybe Barrett is itching for a 3rd round, perhaps? Isn't he out of the MLB? As bad as he looked with the Padres, I'm not sure Fox wouldn't be better option. I think some posters are forgeting just how truly awful Barrett was.
  12. Minaya beginning to tread into Coletti/Sabean territory. No way he survives this season.
  13. BULL [expletive] SH*T Jacque Jones put up much, much better numbers than Patterson could ever aspire too, and everybody hated him, even while he played an acceptable CF in '07. Ryan and TT were always Patterson fans, and that's cool. But let's keep a little objectivity. The guy's a fantastic defensive CF. And that's it. He's never had sustained success at the plate.
  14. WOW!! Just WOW! Did you watch the game tonight? IT WAS ONE GAME. How the hell was he the "spark" over, say, Lee? Or Fukudome? Or Wells? I've been wanting Soriano on the DL for weeks now because it seems like his knee is really effecting his game. I don't mind Fuld getting in there for some starts or as a late inning defensive replacement or pinch-runner, but even then I'd rather have Hoffpauir out there on a regular basis if Soriano is going to be sat for more games or DLed. Hollandsworth said he was a spark as well. Let me guess, he has no idea what he is talking about, right? You've convinced me. And since we're on the subject, why not trade for this young man: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/writers/arash_markazi/12/19/eckstein.qanda/p1.eck1.si.jpg Imagine a Fuld/Eckstein combo at the top of the lineup. That's enough spark to light up every street north of Congress.
  15. If we're giving up Fontenot, Cotts, AND Heilman, we sure as hell better be getting Pujols back.
  16. The smilie really sets off the whole post perfectly.

  18. We'd have to look up the % of times runners scored when a hit and run took place in an inning compared to when it didn't to really form any sort of truth here. Saying they're "one of the worst things" in baseball is obviously not factual at all, and is just your personal opinion, which I think is wrong. Also, I don't think bunts are wasting outs. That is certainly debatable. Of course it's my opinion. Were you expecting me to post someone else's? And I didn't say bunts were wasted outs.
  19. You only have 27 outs. That's it. Why piss them away with sac bunts? And hit & runs are probably the worst thing in baseball. All it usually results in is a strike 'em out-throw 'em out, because you're forcing the batter to swing at a pitch that might not be ideal and assuming he'll hit it. Hit & runs need to go the way of the spitball.
  20. He reminds me of Eric Chavez. You hope for the best, but when the guy keeps having the same trouble with the same part of his body over and over...
  21. Do you have to be contrarian about everything? Did you mean to quote gooney? It can be said about a lot of people. But clarify your argument on this; Gaudin is nothing special, I won't quarrel with that, but on a team with Harden and ? at #5, is it wise to trade away guys like Marquis and Gaudin, who are at least durable and can provide some margin for error? As I stated, were it not for Wells' amazing season, the media would giving the FO as much flak for the Marquis/Gaudin deals as they are the Derosa trade. Jim has really dodged a bullet (so far).
  22. Only a few years, and two are already out of baseball. Prior isn't out of baseball yet, although it seems like he is. Not officially retired, but let's be honest.
  23. Do you have to be contrarian about everything? "The sky is blue" "No it's aqua-marine" How can anyone reasonably defend Hendry's handling of the pitching staff this year? He's incredibly lucky he caught lightening in a bottle with Wells, or his lack of foresight would really be glaring.
