  1. The Cubs are the worst team I've seen at scoring men from second with no out.
  2. I hope you have to live in North Dakota the rest of your life. You [expletive] deserve it. No. He doesn't. That game was [expletive] brutal and you have to be a robot (or David) to not be breaking down by the end. Jesus dude, are you void of emotion? I got your back Ski. I enjoy living in North Dakota, by the way. And I stand by my point that this game never should have gone to the bottom of the ninth and a better reliever should have been put in. Celebrate the walkoff, sure, but it shouldn't have even been necessary. This season has been filled with [expletive] moments like that.
  3. Why will you take it? You don't want them to make the playoffs. They don't deserve it and maddon needs the fire and passion. Emotion talks.
  4. We shouldn't have even been in another walkoff situation, but I'll [expletive] take it. Now, in typical Cubs fashion, instead of taking this moment to springboard into a streak, we'll play another [expletive] filled game tomorrow and fall flat on our asses.
  5. I take back everything I just said. Holy [expletive]!
  6. The cubs do [expletive] in the clutch. Don't expect anything. This team has absolved itself of any hope for the rest of the season. They had a chance to go to 9 games above .500 and they've performed like steamy garbage ever since. It's inexcusable. Yeah nothing at all in the clutch that's why they lead baseball in walkoff wins Because we play tons of close games, partly because we suck with RISP. If we scored more runs there'd be no reason to walkoff.
  7. I don't understand if Maddon is supposed to be this smart manager he doesn't see the advanced stats that suggest that he's due to suck. I don't necessarily care if the best reliever is a closer, I mean we've made the playoffs with Borowski and Dempster as our closers, but Motte is definitely not the guy when you have guys like Grimm and Strop (assuming you use Rondon for high leverage situations) Given the horrible stretch we were going through, Grimm should have been in to partially assure a win, to pull us out of this tailspin.
  8. The cubs do jackshit in the clutch. Don't expect anything. This team has absolved itself of any hope for the rest of the season. They had a chance to go to 9 games above .500 and they've performed like steamy garbage ever since. It's inexcusable.
  9. I don't think you have to hope. I mean it in a cathartic way. Like, "You fucked up too much, and you don't deserve nice things." Seriously, batters succeed less than half the time and yet we allowed four runs to score without making an out. Don't make shitty pitches and everything will be fine. Jesus Christ. Goodness, I'm more bitter than usual tonight.
  10. I want Lou Piniella to come out of retirement and chew the [expletive] out of the team. We need someone to cut through the [expletive] right now.
  11. I hope they miss the playoffs. They [expletive] deserve it.
  12. Even asking an average reliever to close out a three run lead isn't asking too much. The number of stressful ninth innings we've had is ridiculous. There has to be some sort of prevailing mental defect.
  13. This team deserves a good literal spanking.
  14. I wasn't scolding you in particular. Just wanted to highlight my own thoughts. Everyone has their own recovery time. No one expects you to be over it instantly. I hear ya. I'm sorry for lashing out. I'm just having a difficult time handling this right now. :D All in good fun. No worries. My point is, anyone who relies on a professional sports team to provide them with good feelings is going to have a bad time.
  15. To be fair, the Cubs really haven't been earning that hashtag lately.
  16. I wasn't scolding you in particular. Just wanted to highlight my own thoughts. Everyone has their own recovery time. No one expects you to be over it instantly.
  17. Come up with a better reason than that. "kinda sucks" is much less pathetic than "can't handle being no hit." Yeah, sorry man. I realize that the can't handle part was difficult for you. I was hoping to get away with it, but nope. I got caught. What's the point in letting something beyond your control dictate your emotional well-being? Sure, I get upset in the heat of the moment when bad and stupid things happen to the Cubs. But I try to get over it quickly.
  18. I'm so glad I'll be on vacation for the next three weeks and won't have time to sit down and watch this deplorable, inexcusable offense for three hours at a time. And it's fine being a meatball once in a while, so long as it doesn't become your primary setting. My inner meatball wants to chew out the team for hitting like [expletive] for the past month and a half. Everyone has been underperforming and we can't get hits with runners in scoring position. It's pathetic. On paper, our offense is as good as the Cardinals', our pitching is just a tick below theirs, and yet situational hitting is why the Cardinals are playing .666 ball while we're hovering a little above .500. Bad luck is screwing us over. Again. It's getting pretty old.
  19. Of course it goes to the deepest part of the park. Well, kinda sucks that our historic streak is over.
  20. Haha they're just trolling the rest of baseball with this BS Off of David Robertson, no less. I was listening to the game on the radio and concluded that the Cardinals pull this BS against everyone, not just the Cubs.
  21. How many innings are we going to flounder against the Reds' crappy bullpen?
  22. I really hope Joe is emphasizing this in the clubhouse.
  23. Also, the Cardinals rank 6th in the majors with a .310 BABIP. The Cubs are 11th with .301.
