  1. I hate doubleheaders, mainly because it feels doubly worse if we get swept, mixed feelings if we split, and doubly good if we win. Game 1 will probably turn out like the Red Sox-Rangers game last night.
  2. Weren't we predicting an awesome win today too? Although I'm still cautiously optimistic about this game.
  3. I'm getting the game on Fox :D (I'm near Naperville right now).
  4. What do I have to do to join the chat room? I'm on a Mac... You can't, everyone else gets to have fun without you!
  5. Z is Awesome. "I don’t know Ron Stilanovich, but I hope his check clears." Hopefully he doesn't do too much of that during today's game.
  6. It wouldn't kill the Brewers to lose a game, either.
  7. Just a quick check on Cubs NL ranking on a few stats... 1st in Avg. 1st in runs 2nd in hits 5th in HRs 1st in 2Bs 1st in OBP 1st in SLG Pitching: 2nd in ERA 1st in hits allowed 6th in BBs (not too bad I guess) 1st in Ks 2nd in saves 2nd in WHIP That makes for a pretty damn good team.
  8. i'd thank jim very much for his contributions, request he wear a cubs hat to his hall of fame ceremony, and let felix pie actually have a shot at the job next year. he's been beyond amazing for the cubs this year. that doesn't change the fact that he's still pushing 40, injury prone, and has had declining numbers up until his cubs stint. Basically, it would be a smart move to do what the Cardinals usually do and recognize when they caught a break with how good a player was for them and not push their luck. And it would be a Cub move to do the opposite (Glendon, Neifi, etc.) But is it really that high risk to sign him to a one year deal? Even if he doesn't perform as well, you still have Johnson (if he is resigned) and Pie.
  9. So, since Jimmy Ballgame has been doing so well as a Cub, should we resign him? Obviously, he's at the end of his career, but maybe he has one or two good years ahead of him. I'd definitely be fore signing him for a one year deal after 08, maybe two years.
  10. So, maybe resign Edmonds to a one or two year deal if he keeps it up?
  11. attaboy roast Hahahaha Yep. That was interesting. Details, plz. Basically said cardinals fan was turning around and jawing back and forth with a couple of cubs fans. It was civil and just friendly banter at first, but it was pretty easy to tell it was going to turn fairly quickly. So I warned both parties just to make sure and keep it civil. Well about an inning later i hear the cardinals fan swearing over towards other fans. So I talk to the usher in the area and sure enough he's been going way over the line. I told the Cards fan he could not swear at other patrons, he began swearing at me. I told him to come with me to talk to a supervisor - he refused. I called my supervisor over, who asked him to leave. He still refused. Supervisor warned him that his refusal to leave private property was trespassing and he would be arrested, so he finally stood up and we escorted him out. fun times in wrigleyville. kick a couple more out tomorrow Can you kick at the Cardinals so the Cubs win by forfeit? Also, Edmonds blowing off Cardinals FSN is. Love me some Jimmy Ballgame.
  12. Hoping for the Nationals to beat Sabathia is like hoping for a one-legged, blind opossum to successfully cross an Interstate at the peak of rush hour. I guess that opossom made it across when Marquis beat Halliday.
  13. It just goes to show you that sometimes the management knows better than the fans.
  14. I hope you're not implying that he should get in simply because he pitched well in a dramatic postseason game.
  15. Wait, what? Are you talking about their home record?
  16. Don't worry we get to play the Sucktionals soon too. And of course, they'll sweep us.
  17. Any major league team can beat any other team. We just have to hope this is one of those unlucky nights for the brewers.
  18. After watching Blanco's walkoff single, I can't believe that wasn't caught. That looked like a line drive off the bat.
  19. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but a lot of things went right for us to win today. The failed squeeze, the out at home by Soriano, Howry actually being good... Overall though, it was a great game, made even better by the fact that it was the Cardinals.
