i'd thank jim very much for his contributions, request he wear a cubs hat to his hall of fame ceremony, and let felix pie actually have a shot at the job next year. he's been beyond amazing for the cubs this year. that doesn't change the fact that he's still pushing 40, injury prone, and has had declining numbers up until his cubs stint. Basically, it would be a smart move to do what the Cardinals usually do and recognize when they caught a break with how good a player was for them and not push their luck. And it would be a Cub move to do the opposite (Glendon, Neifi, etc.) But is it really that high risk to sign him to a one year deal? Even if he doesn't perform as well, you still have Johnson (if he is resigned) and Pie.
