I stopped watching the 2003 playoffs after game 6. Had to work during game 7, so I taped it on the VCR and followed on some early version of mlb gamecenter. Still have yet to watch anything other than the Wood HR from that game, I broke the tape with a hammer. As for the Pirates, if they beat the Cubs I hope they for sure beat the Cardinals but after that I hope they fail.

On what date do the Cubs clinch a playoff spot?

I am going to the game Saturday so that would be nice to see it happen then but I think it happens Friday. Cubs knock it down to 2 on their own and also the Nats or Giants lose 2 by end of the night Friday. -
Do managers count? Could go with Don Zimmer.

I see it as Friday: Liriano vs Haren Saturday Cole vs Lester Sunday Burnett vs Hammel( but maybe Arrieta moves up to this spot because of the off day Thursday?) Depending on what, if any, concerns there are about Arrieta's workload I would have to think there is a decent shot of that happening. If so, Arrieta would throw: Tuesday vs. Milwaukee Sunday v. Pittsburgh (normal rest) Friday Oct 2nd vs Milwaukee (normal rest) That would give him 4 days (normal rest) for the Wild Card game on Wednesday the 7th. Also leaving Arrieta to face the Royals on next Monday does not make any sense, that means his next start would not be until October 3rd in Milwaukee and that isn't enough rest for the WC game, unless his start is skipped entirely but would then give him 8 days rest between starts.

What a shitty game to go to. Left at the end of the 3rd quarter but made it to the bar to watch the end of the Cubs game. Other than the Oakland game I really don't see any game in the next four or five that the Bears have even a decent chance of winning if Cutler is out for the next month or so.

Yes, now what if the season series is also tied? Not that it would happen, because if the Cubs catch the Pirates they would almost for sure have a better head to head record.

Why are you surprised? The oddest thing would be if there were not yet any charges yet Kane stayed in seclusion. It's not like this guy is reporting that Kane will be there, but rather he was pointing out how unlikely it would be for him to just be a no show without any logistical reasons to be missing. If there were charges to come, the NHL and the Blackhawks would look real foolish. For allowing him to show up to practice despite an ongoing investigation? Sure some will take issue with that, but it's not actually foolish to allow a guy that is under contract to show up to practice. It is if there is an ongoing rape investigation. My point is that the Hawks/NHL/Kane must know that this will be cleared up soon.
