  1. I realize that HS baseball and MLB are quite different, but I shifted from SS to 3B with relative ease, and I would like to think that Theriot could with no problem, given that he is certainly a superior athlete and baseball player...the only real difference is angles on the throws, the speed with which the ball gets to you, and defending the bunt...ultimately, it shouldn't be too hard for Theriot
  2. gee goony, i'm flattered  on a more serious note, I'd take Meche
  3. Is there anyone else who thinks the Bears should jump at the chance to sign him?
  4. Didn't Jacque make a comment at some point that a big reason he signed with the Cubs was Dusty? IIRC he did, which would make him want to stay less when Dusty was let go and coupled with the treatment he received from the fans (deserved or not)
  5. not that it would ever happen, but why would you move Lee to the outfield when he has never played there extensively? Sexson on the other hand, played out there when he came up with Cleveland due to Jim Thome's presence at 1B
  6. why not? because in order to play he would have to have surgery on his shoulder, and because if he did play, it would be without a doubt for the Twins
  7. I don't know about you, but personally, I don't think you have to be serious all the time. Just because he was loose and looked like he was having a good time doesn't mean he wasn't going to be able to focus on the game. He didn't let the game consume him, and I think that is a mark of maturity in and of itself.
  8. Kaz wasn't too bad with Colorado last year
  9. i can't really stand him, but if he comes to the cubs and produces, I can get over that
  10. on the Eastern Illinois University campus in Charleston, IL, the majority of the students are Cardinals fans...I still wear my Cubs gear from time to time, but it makes me wanna cry that the Cards are going to win the World Series, largely because Curtis Granderson fell down and their pitchers cannot field or make good throws...:(
  11. sorry, but wouldn't it make more sense defensively to have a 5-time (albeit Japanese League) Gold Glover at 3rd and another gold glover (or at least GG caliber player) at SS and then Theriot at 2nd?
  12. as to whoever it was that didn't want Mussina...why not? He may be getting old, but he has been effective in the AL...and effective AL pitchers become good NL pitchers all the time...and Moose was a very good pitcher in the AL for quite a few years
  13. While Rex has played fantastic football, I would have to say Donovan McNabb is the MVP after the way he played against Green Bay...he won that game on his own, and while I realize that Brian Westbrook, Dante Stallworth, and the Eagles D are all good, they would be absolutely lost without Donovan...
  14. Maurice Morris may not be a pushover, but any (typical) 2nd stringer is a big step down from Shaun Alexander, who is one of the top 3 running backs in the NFL, whether he has produced this year or not
  15. How to Play in Games That Matter by the whole team How to Keep Fans Happy by Dusty Baker, Jim Hendry, and Andy MacPhail [/i]
  16. I'm not a huge Brad Johnson fan myself, but he is a smart QB and Chester Taylor is a solid RB running behind 2 exceptional offensive linemen on the left side, LT Bryant McKinnie and LG Steve Hutchinson...all that said, I'm taking the Bears, 20-13
  17. if people voted for the MVP as the name of the award suggests, Pujopls would win far and away. However, they largely vote for the Most Outstanding Player (Andre Dawson anyone?), which in this case you can argue both, but Howard's HR totals are so gaudy he gets a lot of votes...
  18. sometimes it drives me crazy how much they play on the fact that Peyton and Eli are brothers, but that was a funny commercial
  19. Mark Anderson >>>>>>> Michael Haynes
  20. Robbie Gould = Neil Rackers c. 2005?
  21. lack of playing time or not, you don't forget how to get in the way of a guy
  22. Rex is really spreading it around
