  1. while I am not a Dusty fan by any means, it really would accomplish nothing to fire him now, so why wouldn't hendry give him a vote of confidence? Why not let him manage the team into the ground? if worst comes to worst, the Cubs get a better draft pick than if they fire Dusty and hire a competent manager for the interim...then you get a new manager for next year, and hope he isn't Dusty 2.0
  2. i'm more on the jeremi gonzalez, ozzie timmons, chad meyers bandwagon myself
  3. Eddie Lewis is playing well
  4. EJ in the game, let's hope for some excitement
  5. what a weak call...sigh, need 2 more now
  6. Beasley finally does something good, and what a time for it...brilliant play, and what a rocket from Clint
  7. Essien looking like Greg Lougainis
  8. you can hear the crowd groaning every time the US pulls up on the attack
  9. i'm just waiting for somebody to hold their shin after getting pushed in the side
  10. what were dempsey and reyna doing? too much pressure to be playing around...gotta get 2 now
  11. wow, that shot was sure off the mark
  12. i'll bite C- Joe Mauer 1B- Albert Pujols - I love DLee, but nobody in baseball is better, it's just true 2B- Derek Jeter (he'd just have to deal with playing 2nd on my team) SS- Tejada 3B- A-Rod LF- Ichiro CF- Andruw Jones RF- Vlad Guererro SPs- Johan Santana, Jake Peavy, Roy Oswalt, Carlos Zambrano, Pedro Bullpen- BJ Ryan, Billy Wagner, Trevor Hoffman, Joe Nathan, Eric Gagne Closer- Mariano Rivera - talk about Gagne and Hoffman and whomever else you would like to, love him or love to hate him, Mo Rivera is the most clutch post-season closer ever
  13. wow, who won't they sign? and they passed on JoBo?
  14. any other notable scratches yet?
  15. Beltran has not come anywhere close to producing what is to be expected when you're paid as much as he is, however i believe that the argument for his exclusion is that his numbers aren't plain awful...and how is christian guzman not #1? his numbers are the worst in the majors by far, i don't care if he's only making 4 mil, i've played with guys who could hit .200 against ML pitching, and he's managing only .186
  16. I, and I believe almost everyone here, would absolutely love to get paid to go out and play baseball everyday. I've played every summer since I turned 5 and was finally old enough to play, when I graduate High School next year, barring some unforseen offer to play in college, I will be for all intensive purposes done playing baseball. I'm not looking forward to that last game. My coaches from my dad, to my friends' parents, to my current High School coach have instilled in me the idea that if you're not playing hard all the time, why bother? I have played with and against my share of people who have no respect for the game, and seeing them out on the field with me makes me upset. My HS coach has benched players numerous times for failing to run full speed to a base, even if they were going about 3/4 speed...and he would probably sit someone for a month if they jogged like these primadonnas making millions...all we're asking for is effort, is that too much?
  17. did you see the K-zone view of the pitch Neifi got to hit? wow,
  18. nobody will ever be as bad as Joe Morgan, however, I must say I hate that the Cubs play a nationally televised game against the Cards and the announcers are as close to being official Cardinal announcers as you can be without the title. My dad commented to me after the game, that "About the only thing they didn't do was (an action) Pujols' (body part which i will not name)"
  19. I figured that Delmon would be every bit as slow as Dmitri from the first look I got of him, but how wrong was I? He's shown good speed on the basepaths and could be a legit 30-30 guy within a couple years. The Devil Rays have some impressive young talent, BJ Upton, Delmon, Jonny Gomes, Bankston (1B right?), Joey Gathright, Carl Crawford, Scott Kazmir...etc., it could be interesting to watch and see if they manage to screw it all up by not having enough pitching. That said, is BJ Upton destined to be the most physically talented DH ever? I mean really, the guy has been horrendous in the field. Delmon could be a 30-30 his rookie year if TB lets him run. He probably won't run all that much as a middle of the order hitter. Tampa could start 2006 with this lineup: LF-Crawford CF-Baldelli (don't forget about him) RF- Young 3b- Huff 1b- Gomes SS- Lugo 2B- Cantu C- Hall DH- Upton That's not too bad. I would probably try to trick somebody into trading a bunch for Crawford, because he's fast. Yeah, Baldelli slipped my mind, he's not exactly old and washed up, Cantu isn't too bad himself, he's saving one of my fantasy teams where i had craig counsell killing me at 2nd base for a while...Huff at 3rd may be risky though, wasn't he originally a 3rd baseman but got moved due to fielding issues? or did i just conjure that up outta nowhere? You almost have to hope they increase payroll dramatically soon
  20. what's the problem with Dempster? Are you longing for the glory days of Mel Rojas?
