  1. They will be, but they will have shifted to the AL as part of a realignment and by then will be known as Miami rather than Florida. That's how the Cubs will win the 2015 World Series as we know will happen from Back to the Future II. :D
  2. Not really surprising if the way he was portrayed in Brian's Song was at all accurate.
  3. I know he was AD at Kansas several years ago.
  4. Roberts actually finished his career with the Cubs in 1966, signing as a free agent on July 13 after being released by the Astros on July 4. He was clearly past his prime by then; he went 2-3 with a 6.14 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 11 games (9 starts) with the Cubs. He was released by the Cubs on Oct. 4, 1966 and that was the end of his major league career (although he did pitch in 11 games, all starts, for the Phillies' AA team in 1967).
  5. If he left the stadium before the game ended the Mariners need to suspend him for at least a few games and send him an early message that they won't tolerate his past antics (unless he had permission to leave).

    Week 5

Now I'm down to five starts for the week. Lannan is going to miss his next scheduled start because of an undetermined arm issue.
  7. Last year Harry Kalas, now Harwell. :(
  8. Gale Sayers isn't happy with the Bears' state of affairs.

    Week 5

Now it looks like I'll have only 6 starts this week. The Yankees are pushing Vaszquez back until next Monday. Of course, the way he's been pitching this year that might be a good thing.

    Week 5

I don't need to worry about making any wrong pitching decisions this week. I have 7 starting pitchers on my roster and every one of them is scheduled for only one start this week.
  11. Brad Lidge is now available on a waiver wire near you.
  12. Yeah, why couldn't you have done this last week? I don't know. But at this point, I'm hoping Jackson throws a -37 start out there, too Jackson seems to bounce around between us. You traded him to me several years ago, then I re-signed him last year (after releasing him a couple years earlier when he appeared to be a bust), and now he's yours again after I didn't make him one of my keepers (which appears to be one of my few good decisions this year).
  13. Sounds like Strasburg is likely to be promoted to AAA after tomorrow's start. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100501&content_id=9716014&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  14. Not yet. The press release I linked to said May but it didn't say when in May. Further, it said that more HD channels would be added STARTING in May. That wording indicates to me that they will be added over time rather than all at once, and I don't know where WGN is in the pecking order.
  15. That's the impression I got too.
  16. Dick Pole (one of Dusty's boys) was de-facto pitching coach. Dusty inherited Larry because Larry still had time remaining on his contract. I'm actually surprised that Dusty didn't move Larry to bench coach and make Pole pitching coach officially. Larry was a former manager, so he certainly would have been a logical choice as bench coach.
  17. I think Pineiro ended any doubt about our outcome.
  18. The Arizona legislature adjourned their session without passing the funding. Unless they call a special session funding will not be approved by the agreed-upon date of July 12 and the Spring Training future could be back up in the air.
  19. It's about time!
  20. Everything you really need to know about Sandberg is here.
  21. Bowls are basically like a participation trophy in little league. These days, yes. I still remember, though, when there were around 15 games and making one really meant something. Were you walking 5 miles to school, uphill both ways, in foot deep snow too? :) That's Fred you're thinking of. :D (Runs for cover)
  22. Anybody looking for a closer and interested in taking a chance of Brad Lidge returning to form? He comes off the DL today. I drafted him as insurance in case Marmol struggled or Rauch didn't get the Twins' closer job, but with both of them pitching very well and solidly entrenched in the closer role I have no need for Lidge. I'd be willing to trade him for a mid-round pick in next year's draft.
  23. It would be nice if this also becomes available for streaming on Blu-Ray players (as is currently available for Netflix and other services). If I could stream it I'd cancel Extra Innings next year and get mlb.tv instead.
  24. If only Kelly Johnson had two more HRs last year and made it into Group D he'd probably be getting a lot of adds now. He's already matched his entire HR output for last year.
