  1. Where was Cedeno in this dream?
  2. At least I'm a .300 hitter. :D
  3. Unfortunately, Freddie will not be old enough to be eligible as a presidential candidate. Neifi will be 35 in 2008, which would allow him to pass the age requirement - but the vice-presidential candidate must be constitutionally eligible to become president, and since Neifi was born in a foreign country, he isn't. Bottom line - you need to pick other scrubby baseball players to nominate :D Introducing the next President of the United States.
  4. Actually, yes (at least young; maybe not so good). Come on now, he can't be a day over 55. :D
  5. Having a pitcher leave with an injury while pitching a no-hitter is creative, even for the Cubs. A much-needed loss to get back on track after the Dodgers series. Well done.
  6. http://sportsmed.starwave.com/i/magazine/new/chicago_dusty_fans.jpg Ah, the good old days. I remember having that sentiment myself back then. I have seen the error of my ways.
  7. As a result of the Cubs losing and Padres winning tonight, the Cubs are now officially eliminated from the Wild Card race as well. Wait 'til next year.
  8. It's being reported he may need Tommy John surgery.
  9. I don't want him to pitch again for the Cubs, but I certainly hope he's OK. EDIT: Also being reported on chicagosports.com.
  10. Don't you mean Mobile? Birmingham has been with the White Sox for quite a while. Um, yep I do. At least I got the right state. :D Actually I think you mean Montgomery. Mobile is with San Diego. Um, OK, so much for trusting my memory on this. I checked the paper again, and Montgomery it is. As I said before, at least I had the right state. :D (Of course, that's like saying it's OK to confuse IU with Purdue since they're both in Indiana.)
  11. Don't you mean Mobile? Birmingham has been with the White Sox for quite a while. Um, yep I do. At least I got the right state. :D
  12. I think the Kool-Aid was spiked. It made many of us delirious.
  13. You assume correctly. :D But to answer the question, it was changed a couple of years ago (I'm not sure exactly what year). It's now based strictly on record without regard to league.
  14. I just read today that Tampa Bay renewed its affiliation with Birmingham through 2008.
  15. Yep, too much base clogging.
  16. The celebration for being eliminated from the Wild Card will have to wait at least one day. The Cubs had to lose ant the Padres win, and exactly the opposite happened. The bubbly is back on ice.
  17. I'll take Theriot's idiotic baserunning for $100, Alex. And the answer is: This Cubs' rookie was recently called out in the press by Dusty Baker due to a base running blunder.
  18. Customers of a furniture store about 45 miles southwest of Chicago won free furniture as a result of the shutout.
  19. I think that was just the last straw of many. It would be quite ironic if the Raiders traded away a player because of discipline problems. That seems backwards; usually problem players come to the Raiders, not leave them.
  20. I agree the situations are different; I just meant it was an example of a team showing a willingness to make drastic changes, something the Cubs aren't willing to do. The fact that the reasons necessitating the changes are different doesn't take away from the fact that one organization will make changes while one won't.
  21. BOO, talk about a wasted opportunity. Kansas City wins and the Cubs have a golden opportunity to pull within three games, but they blow a 7-0 deficit. Even 6 errors isn't enough to get the job done. Time is running out; they can't afford to blow games like this.
  22. Thanks for posting the link; I'd actually read about it as local coverage in my newspaper, not from a web site. The ousted pitching coach and hitting coach both played for the Cubs in their careers. Hebner, in fact, I believe was a key player off the bench in the 1984 season.
  23. Unlike Hill, Bynum is a team player and doing his best to help the Cubs win this race. Three errors in two innings is called taking one for the team. :D
