  1. Week 4: 490 points (Brunell and Graham hurt me the most). Season to date: 1640 points (#602 out of 7336). NSBB group: #2 for the week, #3 overall.
  2. My final result: 1020th place with 255 ESPN. :( Congratulations to Ronny Cedeno for being the most outstanding Hacking Mass player of the year, leading everybody with 109 ESPN. It was a good year for shortstops, with Clint Barmes in 2nd, Angel Berroa tied for 3rd, and Adam Everett 8th. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the five "worst" players were Lance Berkman, Travis Hafner, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, and "worst" of all, Ryan Howard.
  3. With the recent events, and yesterday's board outage, the deadline for submitting questions is being extended until tomorrow at 10:00 P.M. Central time.
  4. I've been getting it frequently too, most noticeably when clicking on Submit to add a post. With me it also goes away when I hit Refresh.
  5. In a bit of irony, in the aftermath of MacPhail's resignation his former team, the Twins, will win their third World Championship in the last 20 years.
  6. Way out of line. You could have stopped with good riddance. Referring to him as "human garbage" isn't welcome here.I agree that it's not appropriate, but why is it okay for people to call players "garbage" and "trash" on here all the time, but not the team president? What I objected to was calling him human garbage; that made it personal, rather than a commentary on his performance. If he was referred to as a garbage president, although I myself wouldn't have used that wording, I wouldn't have objected when someone else did. And, as Forrest Gump would say, that's all I've got to say about that. I agree with Cuse's request to keep this thread about MacPhail's leaving; I just wanted to respond to the posts specifically aimed at my post.
  7. wow.... I agree. Great Post by JeffH. No, it wasn't, and neither was yours. There's absolutely no reason to be immature and use demeaning names after he has resigned. Be happy that he's gone and leave it at that. If you want to have those thought in your mind, that's fine, but it's out of line to post them here. You got what you (and many others, including myself) wanted; just be glad about that.Is there reason enough to use them before someone has resigned? Why hasn't this same standard been applied to Baker and Hendry? Because they are still with the team? Don't get me wrong. I agree 100% with what you wrote, NCCF. I am a big fan of decorum. I'm just wondering where this tough talk has been. I like it. Keep it coming. When people make it personal with terms such as human garbage, rather than just commenting on their performance, I plan to. That's what I was commenting on here, because he was calling MacPhail a bad person rather than a bad president.

Jones has been playing hurt. He has a torn labrum in his shoulder and bone chips in his elbow.

  11. Or "Hit The Road, Jack." Or "Na-Na-Na-Na, Hey-Hey, Goodbye."
  12. It may not be a bad idea for people to bookmark that board if you haven't already. It may be needed after the announcement.
  13. Just an unreal game. I thought the Bears would win, but the last thing I expected was total domination. This season is looking to me very much like 1985 all over again. We can even have our one loss against Miami again. :D
  14. Bingo, bingo, and bingo.
  15. I assume you meant Pie. Yes, that's what I meant.
  16. MacPhail resigns, Dusty almost certainly gone, and the Bears demolish Seattle. The only thing that would have made it a better day is if Hendry announced he was leaving too. Oh well, you can't have everything.
  17. The number 3 pick clinched and the first of the Three Stooges gone. Not a bad day's work.
  18. I prefer pro football (largely because the colleges I like suck in football) and college basketball.
  19. Pencil him in automatically, no. He could be Bo Hart or early 2005 Neifi Perez. However, I do think he deserves a legitimate chance to compete for a starting job in Spring Training.
  20. My feeling is that, since Hendry created this mess and destroyed a team on the verge of the World Championship, Hendry must be held accountable and demanded to turn the team around immediately as a condition for keeping his job regardless of whether Aram re-signs or not. As impossible as it would seem for the Cubs to contend next year without Aram, Hendry needs to be expected to do just that if he wants to keep his job. He created this mess, so he needs to be held responsible for fixing it immediately without expecting fans to suffer through yet another rebuilding program, and if he can't deliver he has to go.
  21. Assuming Pierre leaves, as a stopgap, how about Jones in center and Sanders in right until Pie is ready? Then, if Pierre is ready by the middle of next season, Jones could move back to right and Sanders becomes a weapon off the bench.
  22. Dusty isn't going to be back under any circumstances. I'd bet your life savings on it. :D
  23. The connection was that there was a player on that team named Baker. :D
  24. A few days ago I posted a quote from Hendry on cubs.com where Hendry said that what would be done would be in the best interests of the organization, not any individual, including him. I raised the issue of whether that meant Hendry's job was on the line too. At the time people thought it simply meant that Hendry personally wanted to keep Dusty but knew he couldn't. If there's any truth to the report mentioned in this thread, maybe I was on to something before. Unfortunately I don't recall which thread I posted Hendry's quote in.
