  1. No, Crime Scene: New York. :D
  2. It appears he still hasn't gotten over the effects and that might be what has been affecting his play. Were the seas that rough? Was he without a job because he rocked the boat too much?
  3. They also beat Illinois, so if they're crappy then Illinois should be utterly humiliated for losing to a crappy team. :D
  4. I guess I have been asleep during the offseason, but when did Sing and Montanez go to Balt? They elected to become minor league free agents, which a player can do after spending six years in the minors.
  5. Jason Smith-been there, done that (twice, if I recall).
  6. Interestingly, I saw both Jackson and Wilson play when they were in the minors. They played for Kinston, NC (Cleveland's high-A team) when I lived only 25 miles from there, so I went to a few games each year (now I live closer to AA-Carolina and AAA-Durham).
  7. 1.000 career OBP. :D He doesn't have an AB, only a PA. True, but isn't OBP (as opposed to BA) based on plate appearances, not at-bats? After all, walks aren't at-bats either, yet they contribute to OBP.
  8. 1.000 career OBP. :D
  9. But Damian also stormed out and said he's done with baseball forever. I hadn't read about that before, but checked CBS Sportsline and saw that after you mentioned it. Grady Little said Jackson respects their decision. :D
  10. More former Cub news over the past couple of days. Damian Jackson was released by the Dodgers and stormed out, claiming he is done with baseball. The Nationals sent Jermaine Van Buren to the minors, and the Orioles sent Brandon Sing and Luis Montanez down.
  11. Damian Jackson is available too. He was just released a day or two ago. :D
  12. Incorrect. He was 12-2 in 1994. Since that was the strike-shortened year, it would definitely have to be considered comparable. He certainly would have won more games had it been a full season.
  13. Well, I figured that even though that's a peak news time, there wouldn't likely be a game thread interrupted that way. Unless people are discussing a late NCAA game that's in its 10th OT period. :D
  14. I believe teams sometimes conduct tryout camps, but I don't think it's possible to just walk on in Spring Training.
  15. I'm definitely keeping an open mind about Marquis. I wasn't for the signing at the time (and still am not), given that he was signed I'm certainly hoping he does better than expected. If he is decent and Prior and/or Miller healthy and effective (during the season, if not by Opening Day), then the Cubs have plenty of insurance in the event of injuries and/or some nice trade bait.
  16. Maybe he just forgot about the early start to daylight savings time this year and lost an hour of sleep. :D Excellent theory, if they observed Daylight Savings here in AZ :sunny: Oops, I forgot that Arizona doesn't observe DST. I knew most of Indiana didn't until a year ago.
  17. He wasn't called up to the majors until then, but we got him in 2004 in the Nomar Garciapparra trade.
  18. Adrian (Cap's real first name) Anson. Felix Fermin. Robin Roberts. Roberto Rodriguez. And let's not forget The Rifleman, Chuck Connors. Managing this team: Frankie Frisch. Coach: Chuck Cottier. PA announcer: Pat Peiper. And leading the 7th Inning Stretch: Ozzy Osbourne.
  19. It means he is on the minor league, not major league, roster, but still invited to major league Spring Training. Normally players on the major league (40-man) roster report to the major league camp and players with minor-league contracts report to the minor league camp. However, veterans signed to minor league contracts and some prospects are sometimes invited to major league camp even though they're not on the major league roster. If they actually make the team for Opening Day, then they have to be added to the major league roster.
  20. Bill Bonham. Alex Arias. If we're allowing nicknames..... Dizzy Dean. King Kelly. [wishful thinking]Carl Crawford.[/wishful thinking] And broadcasting this team's games along with Brenly, Chip Caray.
  21. Oops, looks like I was just beat to Wilson. Chuck Crim. Chris Cannizzaro. EDIT: Oops again; someone beat me to Crim as well.
  22. Steve Smyth. Willie Wilson.
  23. He also goes by the names of Rey Ordonez, Neifi Perez, and Enrique Wilson. :D
  24. And Greg Maddux signed with the Yankees. :D
