Sad thing is, if I had been matched against abuck instead of Raw in Week 1 I would have won handily and started 1-0 with a win over the two-time defending champions. :(

You didn't beat me, Mother Nature did. If they actually played baseball in Cleveland Ichiro and Marte combined would have outproduced Sizemore enough to have given me the win. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

Are the media guides, in particular the Cubs media guide readily available to the public? If so, where can they be purchased? The Cubs' media guide can be purchased over the phone by calling the same number that you'd call to subscribe to Vineline (I posted it a while back in Baseball Discussions; if search were working it would be easy to find). That information may be available on cubs.com. I'm not sure about other teams. You can also find media guides available on eBay, but I don't know specifically if anybody's selling this year's Cubs media guide at this time. -
I believe what it is showing is the number of starts remaining for all the pitchers on your roster, not how many you have remaining within the limit. It would be nice to have it the other way; I'd like to be able to see at a glance how many starts my opponent has remaining.

That information came from the Cubs media guide, but they only give that information for the Cubs' road hotels. You could call the Cubs' hotel in Cleveland to ask if the Rangers stay there as well, or you could get the Rangers' media guide and see if they provide that information as well. You might even try contacting the Rangers' public relations department (there's likely an e-mail link on the Rangers' web site) to see if they're willing to provide that information. -
I'm 99.9999999% sure that's what it means. I think there was some talk before about the possibility of eliminating that very short week (only 4 days of games. and 3 for some teams).

He's actually been pretty hot to start the season. He's hitting .316 with a homer and 4 rbi, are you confident that he goes back to his usual self? It's a risk; I just think that he'll get more playing time than Niekro, so he'll have a better opportunity to put up some nice points. 1B is kind of a crapshoot; it's hard to find a 1B that stinks and still gets regular playing time, because most teams have a decent hitter that they can switch to 1B if necessary.

Good thing for Raw (and bad for me) that he reserved Patterson after his earlier start this week. He's in negative territory again, down 3-0 after 1 inning.

Maybe the personnel who actually know what they're talking about have Easter weekend off. -
I kind of suspect that the umpires may have been sending a message to the Indians' management the way they handled it. They may have thought the game should have been called up front, but I believe that until the first pitch is thrown, it is the home team's management's call, not the umpires.

Interesting. Maybe somebody at BP is sleeping on the job over the holiday weekend. :D I took advantage of the extra time to switch to Dmitri Young at 1B.
