Score huge late, opponent scores more the next half inning. My second choice would be the walk-off option (that only works on the road, while my first choice can work at home or on the road).

Wild speculation on my part, but Yadier Molina suffered an injury today and is out 4 to 6 weeks. I wonder if Barrett has been traded to the Cardinals.

I think you're right about that, at least as far as I'm concerned. It would seem better to be credited with 20 points to start with rather than being credited for 30 points when you go to bed, then losing 10 points overnight. It's the same result in the end, but psychologically it's different. I don't know why Sportsline can't keep up with TBA in real time like they do with the other categories.

That's something Yogi might say. :lol: I originally listed just Bench and Biggio, and later added Yogi. Guess I did a poor job making those changes. Bench and Biggio are the obvious ones, since they were more recent. I'm not sure I would have remembered Berra myself (I forgot that he switched positions to make room for Elston Howard behind the plate).

:evil: Actually I think that was a good trade for both of us. You had excess closers and needed a starter; I had starters to burn and needed a closer after Ryan went down. I think my draft was good overall, although there were a few clunkers. Jenning with my top pick (2nd round) has been good when healthy and had a good return from the DL last night. Cordero (the Brewer) and Lilly (traded for Wickman), both in the 5th, have given me a good bullpen (when Wickman has been healthy). Washburn in the 10th and El Duque in the 13th have given me some surprisingly solid late-round starting pitching depth. Cabrera in the 15th is having the best season of his career so far. On the flip side, Sanchez in the 4th and Figgins in the 6th (both since released) didn't help me. Varitek in the 9th would have been a good catcher for me, but I made the mistake of being impatient with his slow start and dropping him in favor of Paulino. Gallagher (8th) and Colvin (11th) may help in the future. Crain (12th), Brown (14th), and Izturis (17th, just for fun) were throw-away picks I didn't have room for on my roster. Finally, in the 16th round I may have turned the biggest steal in the entire draft into the biggest blunder by drafting Sammy Sosa, then dropping him before the start of the season. I should have kept Sosa and dropped Figgins. :x

And on the flip side, some unearned runs really are the pitcher's fault. For example, if a runner reaches first on an error with two out and later scores, the run is considered unearned, but is still really the pitchers' fault because a good pitcher should be able to get out of it with a runner on first and 2 out. I do think the idea of continuing to deduct for total bases allowed, but at a lower rate, is good (I assume we're talking about changes for next year, not changing the scoring during the year).

If he hadn't had a cup of coffee (42 ABs in 2004) Adrian Gonzalez would have still had one exempt year remaining and would have been a good candidate. If he continues his current hitting the rest of the year Garko may be one.

You have it backwards. By using "greater than" signs when you probably meant to use "less than" signs you actually have Mesa as the top farm team and Iowa at the bottom. If you are using hope and expectation that a Cubs prospect will be somebody one day, this may actually be true. The higher up the ladder they go, the less hope and expectations we have in them. Good point. :D -
No, since one of the teams listed has to win by default. If the question was who DESERVES to win then "none of the above" would be a legitimate option.

Very close game between Fuzzy Logistics and me so far (he leads by 6.5 points, with 5 starters remaining for each of us). We currently have the second and fourth highest scores of the week.

My wild card pick (Marte) is now in the minor leagues. I'll definitely be changing that at the All-Star break.

Just a guess on my part, but my interpretation is that it's saying that any scholarship awarded needs to be large enough to pay at least 33% of the student's costs (however that's defined). I may be way off base on that -

I believe the Cubs released him a couple of weeks ago. :( One article I read about him a month or so ago indicated that he's recovered from his injuries now but has come down with a severe case of Steve Blass Disease.

I always thought that quote was attributed to Stu Miller. (Or at the very least someone describing Miller.) Then again, there are probably many MLB pitchers over the years who have had that said about them. Miller may have said that too, but he retired before I started following baseball. Since Miller and Grimsley both pitched for the Orioles (although not at the same time), it could be that Grimsley was quoting Miller and saying that it applied to him as well.
