Zambrano vs. Eyre. Zambrano may have already sealed his fate; may as well take Eyre down with him.

Agreed; I'm just saying that it takes two to tango and that Barrett gets SOME of the blame. This may be just debating semantics, but my comments started in response to Mizzou's post that it was ALL Zambrano's fault, while I'm saying that it's MAINLY Zambrano's fault, but partially Barrett's as well. I suspect we're really thinking the same but just using different semantics.

Do we even know for sure that Barrett is the one that got crossed up on that ball? I don't think anybody knows for sure, but Lou's postgame comments suggested that he thought Barrett was to blame (although that may be a biased thought based on his general feelings toward Barrett). In any case, even if the passed ball wasn't Barrett's fault, the throwing error certainly was.

Actually, I think that's completely justified in that situation. whole situation is avoided if barrett just mans up and takes it. Whole situation is avoided if Zambrano isn't a baby, or doesn't try and blame his team for the 13 hits and six earned runs. Whole situation is also avoided if Barrett plays like a competent major league catcher rather than committing both a passed ball and an error to allow a run to score, then following Zambrano to the clubhouse for more. Zambrano's mainly to blame, but Barrett isn't innocent here.

No, it's not 100% Zambrano's fault. Barrett definitely was in the wrong as well. They're both to blame.If Zambrano actually had the ability to control his emotions and not act like a baby, this would have never happened. Zambrano came into the dugout and started mouthing Barrett, not the other way around. It's his fault. Again, the point is that it's not ALL his fault. Largely, yes, but Barrett without question was in the wrong as well.

So far the Cubs are being good to me today. A hit and a run for Johnson in Roadkill, a hit and an RBI for McCann in another league. Hopefully the Cubs can keep it close enough to give Wickman a save opportunity. Just looking for a silver lining in this mess. :D

BTW, with Sosa so close to 600 I've temporarily stickied this thread to make sure it stays on the first page. Once he's passed 600 and the talk has died down a bit it will probably be un-stickied.

Sosa needs two more HRs to reach 600. Bobby Cox needs 2 more ejections to break John McGraw's all-time record. It will be interesting to see which occurs first.

I think Miller is the logical choice. I'd like to see it happen to Eyre, but I don't think Hendry will give up on him. You're probably right. Miller makes the most sense. He does. But this is the Cubs .... I read on Rotoworld recently that Miller would get optioned to AAA or released soon. Maybe this is it. Another possibility would be to transfer Miller to the 60-day DL, as they did with Wood earlier when they needed to make room on the 40-man for Fontenot.

Oh, I'm sure they're having another high-level meeting to see about implementing those changes and maybe hiring me and giving me a hefty bonus and... Well, you get it. It might well be obvious, but not to those in charge, apparently. Thanks for the dicussion. If you were overweight and pitched left handed they'd hire you. It's not too late. Pack on the pounds and get that arm in shape. Since when did the Cubs care about whether a pitcher's arm is actually in shape before signing him? :D

I have the second highest score of the week, and am still losing by almost 15 points. However, I have a 3 to 2 pitching start advantage remaining.

I had similar speculation the other day when Barrett wasn't in the lineup. I made the crazy speculation that he was being traded to the Cardinals since Molina is out for some time.

As reported in Transactions, Blanco is now on the 15-day DL, with Hill coming up from Iowa. So at least for now Barrett seems safe.
