    I hate geography. I'll be 8-6 after this week, which will be 4th in the East. However, If I were in the West with the same record I'd be no worse than tied for second. I need to move to California. :lol:

    Winning tomorrow would be huge. It would mean five consecutive series wins and no worse than 4.5 games out of first. Talk about momentum going into the ASB.

    How many Rich Harden jokes do you see around here? Or AJ Burnett. Or, until this year, Josh Beckett.

    It was already built last year with the Williamson and Walker trades.

    Petrick can't be called back up until 10 days after he was sent down, unless it's to replace another pitcher going on the DL. So if the Cubs want to be up to 12 pitchers immediately after the All-Star break it would have to be someone else coming up.

    I'm getting a big week from Wells, but it's not enough. I've used up all my pitching starts for the week and I believe you have a couple remaining; looks like my first two-game losing streak since the first two weeks of the season. :(

    like that wasn't going to happen after all your talk about your great pitching! and like marquis wasn't going to suck after you said that! when are you guys going to learn about fantasy baseball karma? ps - i'm going to lose this week anyway, so this post of mine won't really come back to haunt me karma-wise. He sucked less than Garland (by a long shot) at least. We'll find out tomorrow how this karma affects Webb. Maybe he'll tear his elbow in the game and need TJS.

    Definitely a big bat. They already have a pitching ace who is finally performing like an ace.

    He was originally a top catching prospect with the Pirates' organization, but I believe he had a major arm/shoulder/elbow (I don't recall specifics) injury. I'm not sure if he's still a catcher.

    Are you just bored? Well his BA is higher than our two catchers combined. Just doesn't seem like much of a difference to the outcome of this season. Kind of seems like a waste of Hendry's limited mental resources. Why not just dump one of our 2 Cs and bring up Soto? Because that's more than Hendry's limited mental resources are capable of processing. :D

    No thanks; pass on that. He's proven that he's no good as a starter, and he isn't stretched out enough to start (that's why Lou backed off his earlier plan to return Dempster to the rotation).

    I'd definitely do it since you're looking toward next year. If you were in contention this year it would be different.

    Hopefully he'll replace Samardzija in Peoria when it's time for Jeff to go back to ND. Haha, these posts were from July 16 and 17 of last year on the first page of this thread - and in less than a year, Billy Petrick is in the big leagues. Even funnier, I thought you were making a joke about Samardzija going back to ND to play football. If that makes any sense. ------- Unrelated, I don't see how it is possible for the Cubs are calling Samardzija's pitches. Anyway, what does it really matter? He's in the bullpen now. I thought he was starting again. Hasn't he won his last 2 starts? Yes; his bullpen stint was just temporary.

    I think the issue, then, is whether TBS should have gotten the selection show telecast in the first place, not whether they should have a game before that.

    I don't think Dempster is going to the rotation upon his return, trade or no trade. It was ruled out earlier when discussed because he needs to stretch it out before he's ready to return to a starting role. I don't think anything's happened since then to change that.

    That's like saying CBS shouldn't televise a conference championship game before the NCAA selection show in case the game goes into multiple overtime periods.

    Steroids are a 50 game ban. Other substance abuse cases have a completely different program and punishment scale. I thought the 50-game suspension was for minor leaguers, not major leaguers. Then again, Neifi is a minor leaguer even if he's taking up space on a major league roster. :lol:

    As long as the results aired on TBS first I don't see how ESPN did anything wrong (especially given the delay in the announcement due to the length of the preceding game). It feels strange defending ESPN. :D

    Thanks for withdrawing your earlier trade offer that would have given me Garland instead of Marquis. :D He has negative thirtysomething.

    I didn't realize you could go on a rehab assignment before your DL stint was even over. It's been that way as far back as I can remember. You just can't rejoin the major league club before then.

    You're in the playoffs as of right now! Which is exactly why I traded Webb to you rather than him; I can't help him get even better since I'm trying to overtake him. :D well, if your goal is to win it all, making tim better isn't helping your cause either. My first goal is to make the playoffs, since I haven't come within sniffing distance in previous years. If I were two-time defending champions I wouldn't be satisfied with just making the playoffs, but being among the bottom three teams in the league in both previous seasons results in a different perspective and expectations. come on, that sounds like jim hendry talking! :D Unlike Hendry, though, I'm willing to admit it when I make a poor trade (case in point: Liriano for Wickman) and move on. And also, unlike Hendry, I'm still assured of being in control of my team next year. :D
