  1. you wanker, you let yo9ur coworker kick me out in the 9th on wensday....i wasnt even doing anything bad It was a pre-emptive strike. Your reputation precedes you. :D
  2. I don't think it was even that long after the game ended. I was listening to the game on XM radio because the Twins-Rays game was the one shown in my area, and I had the television set to WGN anticipating that they'd interrupt programming to cover the celebration. It seems to me like they broke in almost instantaneously after the game ended. They showed about a half hour of coverage before the start of the White Sox telecast and more on the news following the Sox game.
  3. Good thing, since wearing is what hats are for.
  4. It is when it's their first win over a Big Ten team ever. I was really impressed with Ball State (I got to watch the game on the Big Ten Network). They were in control all the way. I just hope Love is OK. I'm still an IU fan too, but tonight I was for BSU all the way.
  5. Too bad Mrs. Hoffpauir seems to have stopped visiting here. It would have been interesting to get her take on his season.
  6. Thanks for dropping by, Len; it's been awhile. This was a memorable week, between Z's no-no and clinching early. Too bad it wasn't a game I could watch on TV (in North Carolina FOX was televising the Twins-Rays game instead), but I was able to do the next best thing, listening to Pat and Ron call it on XM radio and then watch the post-game coverage on WGN TV. At least it was nice to clinch it on the field rather than in the locker room this year.
  7. Geovany Soto
  8. It was actually mentioned on a telecast earlier this week (I don't recall whether it was yesterday or Wednesday) that he wasn't with the team because of his grandmother. I don't recall whether they mentioned her dying or just being sick, but that does provide support for what you said because today wasn't the first mention of that.
  9. #481. At least I'm in the top half.
  10. Here's the link. I have to think this is really, really bad news for the Colts defense. Last time they were missing Bob, they were pretty terrible. They also won the Super Bowl that year.
  11. You have almost 50 points more than me, and I'm 2-0. :P Who cares about points? Just win, baby. :D The guy in first has already stopped checking his team (still got Alex Smith on his team). Make sure he isn't allowed back. That's one of this year's newcomers. I think it's premature to say that he's stopped checking; the list of managers shows that he's been active as recently as earlier this week (Monday). Smith is still on his team, but on his bench, not in his active lineup. He may just be waiting to decide who to replace him with. We have quite a deep bench in our league, so having a player on IR on your bench doesn't necessarily mean someone has stopped being active.
  12. You have almost 50 points more than me, and I'm 2-0. :P Who cares about points? Just win, baby. :D
  13. I wouldn't mind a combined no-no. Maybe 7 innings from Harden and 1 each from Marmol and Wood.
  14. I found out that the one writer who voted Ball State 25th is a writer for my local (Raleigh, NC) newspaper. He publishes his vote in the paper this week. His newcomers this week were Nebraska (24th) and Ball State (25th).
  15. He only has his own team's owner to blame for that. If they had accepted the inevitable and made plans to move the series earlier they wouldn't have been so weary and they could have gotten the entire three games in.
  16. As of now the magic number for the division title and the playoffs are both 7. Since Milwaukee is no longer in sole posession of the wildcard lead there are no longer two different magic numbers.
  17. Greg Olson obviously didn't realize that they played. Neither did Ron Turner.
  18. Well, I was partially right. :D
  19. I said Kerry's (which, as has been pointed out, really was a no-hitter) partially because it was so unexpected for someone so early in his career. Z pitching a no-hitter really isn't that surprising to me; I figured at some point he'd at least flirt with one; it was just a matter of when.
  20. I did go to the game. I took some pictures which I'll post once I've had a chance to upload (will probably be several days; I have a busy week at work this week and I'm focusing more on the Cubs' impending clinching right now).
  21. WGN has GOT to re-air the game nationally for those of us who missed it because of the damn blackout rules. And the blackouts MUST end IMMEDIATELY so Cub fans don't miss out on another game like this.
  22. You beat me to bumping this.
  23. Who was on that 2000 roster Raisin? Their best hitter was Hee Seop Choi and they also had David Kelton and a horrid Jeff Goldbach. Their pitching was anchored by Mike Wuertz and Steve Smyth. Ben Christensen started that season in Daytona and Juan Cruz finished that season there. TheBaseballCube says that this is their first outright championship since the 95 team, starring Jose Molina and Jeremi Gonzalez, won it. I take it they're wrong? I think they are wrong. I found an independent website that verifies the 2000 championship.
  24. Unless you want to get zero points from those positions that's exactly what it means. They're not playing, so they can't put up any points.
  25. It must be amazing to have this be out of the norm and the result of a crisis. It's really the shortage that's more of a crisis than the price.
