  1. Not a good couple of days for WMC-TV. A lot of stuff they put out there turned out to be completely false. They were observing April Fool's Day a day late. :D
  2. It should probably be pointed out that it was actually a group of the Pirates' prospects that lost, not the major leaguers.
  3. Considering the Bears were able to pull it off without trading Urlacher or Briggs I'm quite willing to part with the draft picks. They still have enough picks to get good players with. The trick is drafting the right players.
  4. I believe it's just a donation to the site that allows them to keep working the magic that they do. You do get to put your name, and a link to a website, on the page you're sponsoring.
  5. I don't recall ever feeling this excited about the Bears in April.
  6. HELL YEAH!!!!! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
  7. You only lose him if he doesn't get put on the DL, so he doesn't actually have to be officially DL'd to put him there. I feel safe in the assumption that any visit to Dr. James Andrews is as good as a trip to the DL. I think that's a safe assumption; the only question is how long his DL stay will be.
  8. Interesting that two people have said Z so far and nobody has said either DLee or ARam.
  9. Gillispie wouldn't have deserved to have been fired this quickly if winning and losing was the only issue. But if some of the rumored incidents are true I don't think he was the right person for the job. Maybe Barnhart didn't ask the right questions in the interview to determine Gillispie's attitude toward the job. In any event I think Cal is a very good choice. If they couldn't get Pitino to come back getting his protege is the next best thing.
  10. I guess this paves the way for Jeremy Pappelbon. RHP? when Campusano was in Peoria in 2005 and 2006 he threw (rather well) with his left hand. If he switched to his right, maybe that was why he was released... Maybe his left elbow never really recovered from TJS so he decided to try to make it as a right-hander. Or maybe Carrie Muskat doesn't know what she's talking about. I'll go with the latter.
  11. Big Z in his first at-bat on Opening Day.
  12. Or else he was a product of PED.
  13. What a load of Howry.
  14. Cal to UK is apparently a done deal.
  15. Just to confusify Juan's simple explaination. You can keep him in your Roadkill minors until he is not minor league eligible, unless his real club actually puts him back into the real minor leagues again and that is his current real life placement. And it has to be an actual minor league assignment, not just an injury rehabilitation assignment.
  16. Any daily change league I'm in I usually have only one hitter on my bench and devote the rest of my bench positions to starting pitchers. I try to find a player with multi-position eligibility for the bench spot, even if he isn't the best hitter available.
  17. and the Indians don't? Dude, they have Wood. And DeRosa.
  18. Like Early Edition, except it's not delivered by a cat. :D
  19. Assuming it's the same rule as in the past you can put him on the DL now with the understanding that you'd have to release him if he doesn't start the season on the major league DL. My understanding is that it's a certainty that he will, so you're really not risking anything.
  20. Meph was referring to Felix Pie.
  21. Actually, he was. I saw it in the transactions listing of my local paper yesterday or today.
  22. It's actually 7: Wells, Hart, Johnson, Blanco, Germain, Snyder, and Taguchi. And a Mark Peel sighting on Bruce's blog. Cubsfan26 asked about the possibility of sending Gaudin down. The first reply to that was from mlp, which I'm fairly certain is Peel because the response has the detail about the waivers process that Mark had here.
  23. Won't take them long to put the glasses on if he succeeds. Won't take them long to boo the crap out of him if he falters. If Gregg isn't lights out in the first two weeks of the season and blows a save or two he will probably get booed every time he is on the field at Wrigley. That will put pressure on Piniella to put Marmol into the closers role for the rest of the season. We will then have our "educated" home fans to blame for not having these two guys in the right roles as they are now. No, we'd have Lou to blame for listening to the "educated" fans. Lou makes the decision, not the fans.
  24. Happy Pawalek Day.
  25. HELL YEAH! I now potentially have three closers on my team (Gregg, Cordero, and Percival). If all three of them actually do serve as closers I have some trade bait if anybody needs a closer.
