  1. The 2005 San Diego Padres (82-80) were actually 1.5 games worse than the 2006 Cardinals (83-78). You're right; I'd forgotten about the Fathers. OK, ONE of the worst.
  2. One of those changes has already been made (DLing Fox, bringing up Asciano). It's fine to keep Fox on the DL if that gives him service time; no need to release him. If they need a spot on the 40-man roster they can transfer him to the 60-day DL. You're right that Patton and Cotts must go, and Heilman needs to be banished to mopup duty until he rediscovers the strike zone. That's a tall order for Hendry to find that many suitable replacements, but he needs to be held accountable to do so because he's responsible for this mess in the first place.
  3. In other words, Mark DeRosa. Way to go, Hendry.
  4. I think you mean 2005-07. He was horrible in 08.
  5. Turk Wendell ftw.
  6. That's what it looked like to me. One of his pitches sailed extremely wild, he held his arm in pain, and that was that.
  7. How? Two games without Bradley and Ramirez is the same now as it was a week ago. I'm saying the fact that he has to miss 2 games is more magnified now that we're already missing one of our big bats in the lineup. The point is, they were also without Ramirez earlier when people were calling for Bradley to serve the suspension. So this is not any different. The Cubs are without Aram now, they were without Aram then.
  8. Repeat of the Cardinals, who didn't win the Series two years in a row when they ran away with the division but did win it the next year when they squeaked into the playoffs with the worst record of any postseason team in history. I don't care if the Cubs win the division; I'll take the wild card. Just get in, and anything can happen.
  9. sucks to have that on your baseball card If he retires, though, he won't have a future baseball card for those stats to be on. :D
  10. The bullpen is a total mess. Several moves need to be made. Patton needs to be returned. Asciano HAS to come up. I'm not sure who else would come up (Hart? Stevens? Gaub?). But it would have to be an improvement over Patton. Heilman cannot be allowed to even look at a baseball in a close game until he rights himself. Hendry created a mess, now he must be held accountable for fixing it.
  11. Someone help me out here. there was a guy, 2004 or 2005 Cubs Minor League Player of the year. 2B or 3B, and then, he got injured, may have been a broken leg and he was never heard from again. Richard Lewis Ah, I'm sure that's it. I'd forgotten about Lewis.
  12. Raw is sinning and will need some downward scoring adjustments. Prior to today he had six pitching starts (Dempster, Hamels, Sanchez, Wainright, Wakefield, and Davis). He had his 7th start this afternoon (Sanchez). And he's going over by having Dempster in his lineup tonight. Plus, if he doesn't adjust his roster by the deadline tomorrow he will have exceeded the limit by two (Wainright is scheduled for another start).
  13. Someone help me out here. there was a guy, 2004 or 2005 Cubs Minor League Player of the year. 2B or 3B, and then, he got injured, may have been a broken leg and he was never heard from again. David Kelton? I think that's the most likely answer (even though it was actually his shoulder, not a broken leg). Another possibility if he got the position wrong might be Nic Jackson.
  14. Even Hanley Ramirez missed a few games with an injury.
  15. How? Two games without Bradley and Ramirez is the same now as it was a week ago.
  16. GOOD NEWS! I saved a lot of money by switching to Geico! Wait... what? Ooops, wrong good news. ;) You have Manny, not Aramis, but the theory is still valid. :-" Oops; too many Ramirezes to keep track of. They may both be out about the same amount of time, though.
  17. Both of my first half moves gone, and I still have Aram and Soto on my roster. Bold prediction: I won't win this contest this year.
  18. Hendry worked for the Marlins for three years before joining the Cubs. He has worked for the Cubs since 1995. Explain to me how Chad Fox having pitched for the Marlins in 2003 and 2004 would possibly qualify him as one of Hendry's "pets from Florida". You got me there.
  19. I hear Cleveland has a player that can play 3B. Let's trade Stevens, Gaub, and Archer for him.
  20. Actually, it is looking VERY bad now. A lot can change in a few hours.
  21. What isn't necessary is your repeated "season is over" type of posts in multiple threads. Teams can and do overcome injuries to key players. Hendry has his work cut out for him, but it is possible to overcome this.
  22. More like starting 3B now. :(
  23. And undoubtedly overpaying both in terms of talent and salary.
  24. Considering some of Hendry's other recent moves, this is a good move because it doesn't suck.
