  1. http://cubsminors.wikispaces.com/HarrisonJ Harrison actually has some pretty good speed 10 SB in like 20 games. But he doesn't hit for enough power to be anything except a MI. And he doesn't play good enough defense to, well, play anywhere. So basically he's Jake Fox without the power.
  2. Washburn traded to the Tigers. He better still start Sunday, or I will only have 6 starts this week with a 20+ point start on my bench. On second thought this week is probably hopeless for me anyway, so I wouldn't mind if he starts twice next week instead.
  3. As of 2007 (the last time the Cubs provided road hotel information in the media guide) it was the Westin Tabor Center (303-572-9100). I don't know if the hotel would tell you if the Cubs stay there if you call, but it can't hurt.
  4. Offense - It's the part of his game that should be well rested since he hasn't used it the past few years
  5. Yes, but that was on a minor league contract, so it wasn't an option. Now that he's been added to the 40-man roster he'd have to use an option to be sent down, and he doesn't have one. Therefore he'd have to clear waivers in order to be sent down.Honest question: do we need to be concerned that Blanco would be claimed on waivers? I know he's endeared himself to Cub fans, but is the rest of the league hot after a good glove/no hit utility IF? I think somebody would likely claim him to be a defensive replacement.

  7. The magic number is now down to 60.

  9. Thanks; it was really a lucky case of being in the right place at the right time. I just happened to see a blurb about him being called up (I don't recall if it was on CBS Sports or Yahoo), so I checked to see if he was on somebody's team. I was surprised he wasn't, since he's BA's #2 Astros prospect this year.
  10. That's what I'd expect. Stevens will probably go back to Iowa. They probably decided to do it this way for now since Gorzelanny won't be needed until Tuesday, so in the meantime they can carry the extra bullpen arm. EDIT: Or else Samardzija may go down instead of Stevens so he can get stretched out as a starter again.
  11. Didn't take the Astros long to put Norris in the rotation. He's replacing the now-released Ortiz.
  12. Thanks for beating the Astros today. Now get the hell out of town. :D
  13. I see absolutely zero justification for demoting Jackson in the first place; he was pitching very well for Tennessee.
  14. So either there's another trade in the works or else Jackson was pulled from his start for another reason.
  15. The 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins beg to differ.
  16. I'd give Aaron Miles up for him. :D
  17. He's not on the 40-man, but there are a couple of open spots, so that wouldn't be a problem.
  18. Even better, imagine if former Cubs pitcher Bill Hands managed either Wang's or Colon's teams. :D
  19. Soriano. Fox or Hoffpauir would replace Soriano in left. Soriano in CF would probably be one of the most amusing things we've ever seen. He was the Cubs' CF in 2007. He played 12 games in CF. I wouldn't exactly call that being the Cubs CF. Yeah, I'd forgotten that he was in LF for most of the year with Jock Jones in CF.
  20. Soriano. Fox or Hoffpauir would replace Soriano in left. Soriano in CF would probably be one of the most amusing things we've ever seen. He was the Cubs' CF in 2007. I was just talking about him as an emergency substitution for the rest of that game, not beyond. If Fuku were going to miss any time beyond that game Fuld would be called up before the next game.
  21. Soriano. Fox or Hoffpauir would replace Soriano in left.
  22. Uh, who plays CF if Fuku gets hurt? Probably Soriano for the rest of that game, then Fuld gets called up if Fuku would miss any time beyond that.
  23. Putting the likelihood of Wells also contracting Rick Ankiel disease aside... Hill 2006: 26 years old, 99.1 IP, 4.17 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 90 K, 39 BB Hill 2007: 27 years old, 195 IP, 3.92 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 183 K, 63 BB Wells 2009: 26 years old, 95 IP, 2.84 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 60 K, 21 BB At the same point in their careers, Hill never pitched as well for as extended a period of time. Are you kidding me? O.K. In which 15 start stretch did Hill post a 2.84 ERA? I suppose if you sandwich his last 6 or 7 starts in '06 with his first 5 or 6 starts in '07, ignore the playoff start and the six months in between, you could argue Hill outperformed Wells over a similar number of starts. Um, which playoff start? The Cubs didn't even sniff the playoffs in 2006, and 2007 isn't in the time frame you're talking about.
