Well in the prediction thread I had to redo his because I predicted very few innings pitched for him because I was only counting the ones before I though he would be traded ... think it was like 70 innings or so aka being traded right about now.

Well I was hoping for Albert Pujols because he will sign with us in 15 years when he is all washed up.

What's that hole in the padding? Was someone shooting at him? That would be where he placed his foot to boost his jump high enough to get the ball. Happens quite a bit when a player tries to steal a HR.

It's cool but I wouldn't want a guy on my team doing that. What if the guy had grabbed his hand during the high five? No DP and maybe Manny hurts wrist when he turns to tear away. It's a why risk it thing, but it is pretty cool.

The only one I can think of is our Sportscenter web gem chances just doubled because Edmonds makes sooo many routine catches a diving occassion and ESPN rewards him for it.

The Mavs trade was essentially Devin Harris and two #1 picks for Kidd. It was a high-risk, "win now" deal that so far has turned out very poorly for Dallas, and leaves them with 1 more year of a former allstar (Kidd) instead of 4 years of a possible future allstar (Harris), plus the draft picks. Find some other names to plug into a Cubs scenario if you don't like Hill and prospects for Randy Johnson. Maybe the same deal for, say, the 2004 or 2005 vintage Randy Johnson works better. At that time Johnson was still pitching at an elite level, but was clearly on the downside. That's basically Kidd now. Devin Harris and 2 #1 picks...that is pretty bad. Your scenario with 2004 Randy Johnson seems like a pretty decent comparison It would seem right now the trade was awful but it is long from over. The PG runs the team's offense and changing PG midseason isn't easy. Let's see if they figure some things out and gel over the offseason. If they do that the trade won't look so bad and if they make a run int he playoffs next year it would at least be a wash trade. Plus Harris is a bit overrated. Is he a good PG? Yes but he is far from all-star. Especially with all the Deron/Paul's emerging and Rose coming in. He is 24 which isn't exactly extremely young anymore and has played five seasons now. His career high was this season with like 15 pts and 6 assts. Not exactly eye popping stats just good.

I wouldn't shed any tears. Although what do you do with him? I guess he'd first be demoted to the bullpen. If he stinks there, I don't know if the Cubs would be willing to send him to the minors with that contract. I don't know if they'd eat it by DFA'ing him, so I guess the most logical choice would be to trade him for whatever you can get. It would be either garbage for garbage, or we'd have to ship off some good young talent along with him if we wanted his salary completely off the books. I guess it would probably be garbage for garbage, and hope we strike gold again like we did in the Hundley for Karros and Grudz trade. I'd be surprised if Marquis is demoted for another pitcher if he does bad tonight. So far the swapping hasn't worked very well. Lieber and Gallagher both sucked in their starts. My guess is if we don't think he is a starter anymore we will immediately try to trade him but keep him in the rotation until we do. You demote him he has zero value you keep him in rotation he has at least some value.

I voted for Marquis. Most of the others were considered good signings at the time. I assume Dusty will win but anyone who can bypass the grudge will admit at the time of the signing you thought it was great or at least a good signing. Hindsight is 20/20 and I won't blame a GM for signing some everyone thought would be good and turns out to suck.

I hate his guts and don't think he is any better than Pie at this point but if we get him cheap why not. The article points to him being mad about getting dumped by St. Louis and any player who hates the Cards is fine by me. I will probably throw up in my mouth when I see him play for the first time (if it happens).

This is why you get more upset when someone strikes out with two outs than with no outs. There is no chance to make up for a two out mistake in a inning. Chart's and statistics aren't the end all be all. Is your globe flat? Does your car get 20 rods to the hogshead? The reason you get more upset is because of problems in human perception. The first out costs you more on average than the third one does. They both cost you an out. I really don't see where you all are getting this. Let's look at other sports. In basketball would you rather have a turnover with 3 minutes to go or with 3 seconds to go? I would go with 3 minutes because then you have time to make up for it and still get it done (which the Cubs did in that half inning BTW). In football would you rather have dropped pass on 1st down or on 4th down? I would go with 1st down because then you have three more downs to get the completion.

Theriot did it for the first out in the inning I believe giving us two outs to work with. Fukudome ended the inning. I will take the one that gives us the chance to make up for it. They both count for 1 out. Yep but I would still rather have a mistake with no outs than two outs.
