  1. that got me to chuckle Marmol's all-star chances just went bye bye he would have to have like 12 more innings of shutout ball to get back into consideration and I don't think he will get that by break.
  2. they cam out last week and I don't think they update on a weekly basis I could be wrong though
  3. Never underestimate the power of the eastern seaboard promotional network. Yeah but looking at it there aren't a lot of places that are wrong. Manny isn't doing that great and definately shouldn't be leading over Hamilton but there aren't three dominanting OF's in the AL so he's probably still a starter with Maggs. Varitek shouldn't be starting over Mauer but it's close. The worst one is probably Pedroia (.319 OBP, the dude doesn't walk) over Kinsler, or Ortiz over Matsui (batting .330). But none of them are clear definate snubs other than Kinsler (Ortiz does have more Hr's and rbis).
  4. It can go either way. Mclouth is likely a small upgrade over Hart and Pedroia is likely a small downgrade from Uggla. Uggla likely won't keep it up. Either the HR's will stop coming or more likely his average will plummet and Mclouth will probably see a drop in both (hr drop has already started).
  5. So the AL update came out today in all-star voting. The Red Sox have the top vote getter at 1b, 2b, C, DH, and OF. Lowell is second at 3b, and Lugo is in 4th but only 70k or so from second place. On top of that the starters at 3b, and SS are both Yankees leaving just two outfield slots going to non Red Sox/Yankee players in the AL. The Yankees might be able to get the sweep as three of their outfielders are in the top 8. The starting pitcher is likely to be Cliff Lee but if he has a bad start or two Daisuke could be next in line.
  6. I don't think we want to venture down that road. What I know about Tatis is he had one great year for the Cardinals and then ruined my fantasy baseball teams for the next two years.
  7. he didn't play in 04, 05, and 07
  8. Fernando Tatis has back-to-back game winning hits against the Dodgers. Got everyone in New York singing Fernando like LA was in 1981.
  9. If the kid is supposed to be phenomenal why not give him his chance to shine. Going to an old vet who may be slightly better won't get them into the race but calling up a young phenom who could dominate might give them a chance. There only chance.
  10. could be the ryan braun of the year in other words the guy I hope decides to drive the wrong way down the high way while drunk not gonna happen. he's a red, not a cardinal I know what you're trying to say but Braun isn't a Cardinal either sooo

  12. they are told what to say about 50% time. At least that's what an NFL ESPN expert that I know has told me. Ellsbury is good but the others are once in a generation type talents Ellsbury is just an all-star caliber player. In other words the others could one day if they pan out make the HoF Ellsbury if he pans out will be an all-star 4 or 5 years. 5 guys taken in the same draft, just 3 years ago, are all "once in a generation type talents"? yes. I said if the pan out. The main thing of what I said was guys like Upton, Braun, etc. have a higher ceiling than Ellsbury. Like I said before if they pan out and get the most of their ability they will be HoF if Ellsbury does the same he is a multi time all-star but not likely HoF. He plays good but not dominant defense, he can't hit more than 20 hr's, compiles a good average but not anywhere close to one that would get him 3,000 hits. The one thing he does better than just about everyone in the league is steal bases. That won't get him in the HoF. Meanwhile Braun could be a 500 HR guy, and 3,000 hit guy. Upton has speed, power, and a very good arm for the outfield. You getting my point. I never said all five will be "once in a generation." Not all if any will pan out but they have the chance to take over for the Manny's, Griffey's, and so on who will all likely be out of the league in 5 years.
  13. probably taking the philosophy that one player's being out shouldn't affect everyone else in the lineup. If you don't put Hoff at 3 then someone else has to be affected and likely will be 3 or 4. This way everyone stays where they would have been if Lee was in. Plus Hoff has done very well since his call up why not give him the 3 spot and see what he can do.

  15. The main things I would do is get Marshall into the rotation. he has proven twice that he can be a pretty good #5 and yet every year get's screwed until we have to turn to him midway through the season. Promote Pie and give him a month (unless he is really bad) of starting every game to see if he can find a rhythem. I think constantly not knowing if he will play of not affects a young hitter and he needs to know the manager has enough confidence to run him out there every day. Lastly hire a pitching coach who is known for the curveball and control to one-on-one teach Hill for the next month. Hill can be a great three/four with Lilly like he was up until this year he just has to learn how to control his curveball. If after a month there isn't improvement then maybe he's a lost cause (he's not exactly young).
  16. Yeah I really don't like calling them Super Cubs, I'm pretty sure we lose on a heartbreaker now I'll change it if you guys want. no we said in today's thread that if we win we are the Super Cubs. We got to let it float for a game and see how it works. And oh yeah the Rockies are hitless career wise against Gallagher. Precisely why I said IF the Cubs lose this game, we should go back to calling them the Cubs. I did not propose changing this thread's title. what are upset and needing to bold about? Some said they didn't like it, the OP said he would change it if we wanted, I said let it float for game. There's nothing to be upset about. In the words of a very wise man 'Don't worry be happy.'
  17. I'm a Cardinal fan and have been since birth. I have alot of Cubbie fan friends. Acutally, the majority of them are Cub fans. With both teams playing well right now, how cool and exciting would a pennet race between these two rivals be? I'm not sure if my blood pressure could take it, but a one game playoff to decide the winner or even better, a game 7 NLCS game, would be amazing. Off topic, I know. Awful, awful ideas. Sorry, nothing aganst you, but I have no desire to see that. yeah I would much rather just see the Cardinals not make playoffs
  18. yeah he could turn out to be very good but then again Kearns had a hot start 5 years ago or so and then fell off the face of the Earth.
  19. I obviously hate the Cardinals and Albert Pujols but it's a pretty easy question at this point. It's Pujols with A-rod (now that his defense has slipped) a somewhat close but still clearly second. After that there's a good slew of people you can argue. I would take Utley and think he may have passed A-rod. The guy absolutely rakes and has done it for 2+ seasons now. If he continues to dominant like he is this season I wouldn't have any qualms with someone putting him first.

  21. Hoffy is kicking butt and taking names he should be top 5 or so.
  22. Can we add Pie and Rich Hill back on the list(i know we can't). Oh and Murton. Then we have a pretty good prospect list.
  23. over reaction much??? I'm sick of the media, fans, managers, and pitchers themselves babying starters. They used to throw 130 every game and not have problems. What happened? They started getting babied from little league on up and have never trained their arm to handle big pitch counts. Maybe because he grew up outside of America and thus wasn't babied at every level but Z has always been able to handle large pitch counts. Should he get 110+ every game; of course not. But once a month or so staying out a little longer than normal isn't going to hurt Z. Stop overreacting. And to the guy who said no one outside the game thread would criticize Lou in the hypothetical situation of pulling him and us losing ... um do you read the board much? How many threads do we have going that are something along the lines of "What is Lou doing?" Lou is one of the top managers in baseball for this generation and we still have a good number who criticize him despite us being in 1st place. Do you really think a handleful of people wouldn't start a thread bashing Lou for 'costing us a loss.'
  24. i know it was sarcasm but still our offense has been the best in the majors practically everyday this season so no reason to through comments like that out
  25. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy for Joe Morgan? are you kidding? he's the epitome of a sham announcer goes without saying ... he's on ESPN
