  1. My logic exactly. Wood very nearly had a no-hitter and many people feel that he should have. The other thing is that no-hitters are much more likely to happen as a result of a little luck than a 20k game. Like in Z's no-hitter for example... he didn't even have his best stuff that day, and didn't even dominate as much as you would expect in a no-hit performance. He just got a few calls, got people to chase a few pitches, and hitters hit the ball to the right places. A 20k game will not occur as a result of anything other than complete nastiness on the part of the pitcher. Causing 20 major league hitters to strike out and only allowing 8 balls into play is [expletive] intense. What you described happens in every single baseball game played. just saying.
  2. he was injured. Try doing your job with one of the body parts you need most to do it hurting each and everyday and then requiring surgery to fix it.
  3. The rooftops really never sell out either durning most games. People are coming to wrigley and never thinking about sitting at a rooftp
  4. Not going to Atlanta but i am heading to Cincinnati for the Friday and Saturday game and then heading back Sunday for Opening day at Wrigley.
  5. This is a stupid assertion. Do you know who Angel Guzman is? How the hell is it panicking too early when they hear something about Angel Guzman? Do you think im some kind of fair weather fan who doesn't know who the players are or their history? You sure sound like it. Angel is a good pitcher, and any sign of health trouble is problematic. The bullpen is already kind of questionable and there isn't anybody significant who is available. You complete mischaracterize the response in the first place. wont be able to prove it either way regardless but if you say so, it must be true.
  6. I honestly dont think Soriano will be as bad as everyone thinks he will be this year. I think a lot of it is in his head and that is the hardest to actually overcome.

Do you think im some kind of fair weather fan who doesn't know who the players are or their history? It's not panic worthy when someone who is extremely fragile possibly breaks very early in spring training. There are still a few players out there who the Cubs could get in free agency along with some decent talent in the minors. If this was in the middle of the season or going into late September, then i could see the panic, but now there are options. As ive said before, there are many more players where panic would be acceptable such as Lee, Z, Ramirez, Soriano, Byrd, Nady, Soto, Dempster, Lilly, Marmol, Wells, Cashner, Castro etc etc etc
  8. ..Sarcasm ..the truth ...sarcasm. Sarcasm or not, this site still panics way to easily over stuff like this. If Guzmans name was Prior, some here would be calling him a baby and not man enough.
  9. equally hilarious are the second wave of posters who come in and begin their typical "HAHAHA you guys are sooo pathetic. Look how worked up you got. Ohhhh mannnn you should have seen your faces!" shtick; after good news is reported, of course. Most of you guys are, the sky is not falling because a pitchers shoulder is sore. And after good news is reported? Come on now, i dont live here like some of you guys so i dont know the latest breaking news about the cubs every single minute of the day. The funniest thing about this is that I didn't see anyone panic over this.

EDIT Especially since the news is about Guzman, who cant play a full season for his life. If this was about Ramirez shoulder, i would be more inclined to think this was really bad news
  11. This site makes me laugh because most of you guys panic at the slightest bad news
  12. Mine thus far http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2549/22336341069472305511157.jpg
  13. Ill be at the june 26th game :P
  14. For how many tickets? 1, it was cheaper from 150. i have 8 people going
  15. i paid 100 for opening day
  16. Ive had a great time at Wrigleyvillerooftops ( i know you said something else). The food is great, the view was great.
  17. At Wrigley durning Cubs games. they should be offered online at Cubs.com as well. I dont think they are out yet though..
  18. Volquez will probably be back around the All Star break, last I heard. They would be dumb to push him, but there is a complete moron in charge over there so it wouldnt shock me
  19. You'd lose. As a team the reds hit 8 points lower and had a OBP 14 points lower than the Cubs. The reds OPS was also well below the Cubs. The cubs also had better stats compared to the reds pitching. I just dont see the reds being as good as the Cubs, if only because Baker is their manager and he does not have a roided up player to make him look good....
  20. What exactly is it that would cause you to believe anything other than that we will be a mediocre team? Because we're going to have the best pitching and probably the best offense in the division. What? I doubt this. The Cubs had the best offense once this decade, and usually there's been at least 2 better offenses in the division. The odds are they won't have the best of either this year, let alone the best pitching and hitting. The Cubs certainly have a chance to make the playoffs if everything bounces their way. Then again, this team is currently worse than the 2004 and 2009 squads that missed the playoffs. The past is the past. Sure its easy to say they are worse but then its easy to say the 2003-2004-2007 and 2008 cubs were better than the World Series winning Cards of 2006.
  21. No kidding, i just look at McGwire stats and think sure the home runs are impressive but he only had like appx 1100 more hits after those home-runs. Pujols already has 91 more hits that McGwire did
  22. The only thing i think is " i really hate Dusty Baker for destroying him"...
