  1. ( :rotfl: I'll give you Madison Square Garden (even tho I think it' s the most overrated sporting venue in America), Willis Reed, the rigging of the Patrick Ewing lottery, and a legacy of playoff failure. But to put the Knicks in the same sentence as the Lakers and the Celts in terms of history is like saying Paris Hilton is as great of an actress as Helen Mirra because they starred in the same movie once. (Raising Helen). Lebron certainly does not need NY to sell the brand of "Lebron James". It is NY and Nike that wants him in NY. Personally, Lebron can sell his name anywhere, from Seattle, Washington to the Fiji Islands. So this whole notice of Lebron wanting to go to NY because of the Knicks "legacy" is a comical notion. Just because ESPN believes he will end up in their backyard doesn't make it so. I really think James is going to put a premium on winning, cause the endorsements will be there regardless if James is in NY or not. The is only two places I see James next year: Cleveland or Miami.
  2. It's more probably then New York. At least in Miami he can play with a 2nd legit superstar, continuing winning, not pay state taxes and not have to deal with the NY media, with the benefits of still adding endorsement deals. I don't see how New York is more viable then Miami, to be honest. If I was a superstar, I'd take Miami over New York.
  3. Nady is coming off a pretty serious injury and Baldelli has a significant injury history as well. Why not take the healthy player? Because he's not as good at baseball as Nady or Baldelli. .279 .324 .444 .767 .241 .330 .471 .801 .280 .335 .458 .792 I don't know about that. Nady, even tho he is coming off injury may still fancy himself a starter and still may ask to be paid as one. Baldelli, I haven't been too impressed with him, but he does have OF defensive versatility. At this point with Fuld as the "defensive OF" replacement, I think Gomes might be a better value for the Cubs then Baldelli or Nady
  4. I didn't say I was "fired up" for the talent on the Nets, I said they have talent, more specifically legit NBA talent on the team. Enough talent for say a guy like Lebron James could come in and legitimately improve. Not to mentio Devin Harris and Brook Lopez is beyong anything the Knicks have on their roster, regardless of how much hype Knicks fans give their players. With that said I could see James going to Miami and teaming up with Wade with the Heat.
  5. What does this even mean? He didn't really care for discipline, he never had control of the team. For the most part he didn't have a plan on what he wanted to accomplished as a coach. In other words, he pretty much tried to "wing it" as a coach. And we both now that the best coaches are often micromanagers. Micromanager Mike Shula was not.
  6. Neither of those things are contagious, and losing that frequently, for that long amount of time, puts a serious dent in any "they have more talent" claim. No it doesn't. So Devin Harris isn't considered a talent? Brook Lopez? Chris Douglas-Roberts? Yi? The Nets lopsing is a combination of injuries, the players not executing, and the coaching absolutely reeking. Even if the Nets finished with 10-15 wins, that doesn't mean they are lacking talent. You want to see a team lacking talent, lack at the immediate post-Jordan Bulls teams.
  7. The Nets don't have more talent than anybody. They're 3-37. What kind of logic is that? They most certaintly do have talent and moreso then New York. The records was based on their best talent being injured and non-effective at the beginning of the year. Beginning of the year? They've lost 9 in a row, and before that it was 10. Just like winning, losing is contagious. But again losing doesnt mean the Nets don't have talent
  8. The Nets don't have more talent than anybody. They're 3-37. What kind of logic is that? They most certaintly do have talent and moreso then New York. The records was based on their best talent being injured and non-effective at the beginning of the year.
  9. SSR is right, USCe=South Carolina. Since there are two USC, I tend to use USCe for South Carolina and USCw for South Carolina.
  10. I don't think you can say the Knicks are all but guarantee to sign Lebron James. I mean, come on, just becuase they are New York, Lebron doesn't need New York for endorsement deals. Just because Nike wants him there doesn't mean he want to go there. I still think he is more likely to sign the NY/NJ/Brooklyn Nets, because A: he still be in the NY market, B: he is friends with Jay-Z who is a part owner, C: Nets have more talent on the team (Harris, Lopez, Yi, CDR) which could make winning easier then NY. Callme naive, but I believe Lenron when he says it's about winning. I know it's a risk, but I could see Lebron taking another short-term deal with Cleveland before signing with the Knicks, especially if Cleveland makes the final.
  11. Shula should have started at a school like ECU and not at his alma mater like Bama. The biggest problems I had with Shula was that he encourages cliques, he placate to star players (ie DJ Hall  ), and he geniunely seems to be disinterested in establishing discipline. He might work at a school like ECU.
  12. Talent alone Mack is worth the hype, but there was a reason why USCe didn't fight to keep the young man. USCe doesn't produce a ton of in-state premium talent and they don't always land said in-state talent, so for them to bid farewell for a talent like Mack is quite telling. And it was confirm by a couple of USCe friends of mine that Mack has both character and weight issues. So since Auburn doesn't have a problem with taking young players with character issues (ie Rollison, Newton), them landing Mack isn't a surprise.
  13. I agreed that he was not adequately replace, but let's face facts the Bulls were not seriously going to upgrade any position last summer if it jeopardizes their "2010 plan." So bemoan the fact the Bulls do not have a player that can stretch the court, complaining about it (sponge, this wasn't necessarily directed at you, but the Bulls fans on several different sites have simply frustrated me with their love of BG and their wishing he was still on the Bulls) really doesn't do a thing. I've learn to accept the Bulls for what they are this year and not what they don't have. They are who they are. And yes, they do need to fix it, but it won't happen till the summer.
  14. :banghead: I wish people would stop using losing BG as a crutch for the reason why they suck.
  15. thankfully they don't have mike cameron any more. At least you guys can still enjoy the last year of Jeff Suppan. Derrek Lee is still OPSing something like 12 million against him, if memory serves. :) True, but Suppan was slightly better against Lee then Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Meyers. So you have that going for Suppan.
  16. That actually makes alot of sense and Tennessee would get themselves an underrated coach.
  17. I cannot even manage a disdain "meh" about the game.
  18. You got me on that one. With that said, Ingram has put up similar numbers to Moreno. So I could see Low going with either player, to be honest.
  19. Pretty good list I think. Premature on Ingram I think. I'd have probably gone with Knowshon Moreno over Ingram. Moreno: 2734 yards 30 TDs; 645 rec. yards, 2 rec. tds. Ingram: 2386 yards 29 TDs; 388 rec yards, 3 rec. tds. On the surface I would agree with you, but when you consider that Moreno left after two productive years at GA (he was red-shirted), and Ingram still has another year in college, plus his Hesiman, and you can see why he picked Ingram over Moreno. And that is with Moreno being the full-time starter and Ingram sharing his carries.
  20. I do not approve of this. What does Jeff Gray think he's doing? Well, Aaron Gray wears #34 for the Bulls, so why not Jeff Gray.
  21. (Impersonating Bob Barker): Hue Jackson, come on down for your shot to turn down the Bears.
  22. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/jays-gm-sticks-to-his-guns/article1434416/Take it for what it's worth. My question is....if Sheets is "all but signed by the Cubs" then why is he still doing a public workout? Wouldn't this be more of a private workout?
  23. Jets .v. Colts? I wonder where Joe Namath is? And will he be making any predictions?
  24. Any fandom aside, Cutler has the one most punchable face in the NFL. It's true. I can think of several players that have as punchable of a face as Cutler.
