  1. Veal seems to be really turning his season around. What is the projection on Reed? I remember when he was drafted there was hype around his brother and how Mark was a Catcher.... Isn't this his first solid season? At this point, Mark is basically a nonprospect/organizationfiller, until proven otherwise.
  2. Wasn't Tim Wilken or whatever his name suppose to bring back the talent to the Cubs farm system? Otherwise,he's done a piss poor job, so far. I miss John Stockstill.
  3. Gallagher needs to bring his hammer, to smach the Rockies. Am I the only one who believe that a good start against the Rockies (After an outstanding start against the Dodgers) and Gallagher's spot in the rotation could be solidified?
  4. First: Yesterday’s game. Second: Last yr’s game in which Howry/Eyre blew the 5 run lead in the ninth, to which Soriano won it in the bottom half. Third: You have the McMichael/Hernandez confrontation/Gutierrez crazy rundown. Fourth: The Rockies had a 9-1 lead back in 99 in Colorado, to which the Cubs came back to win the game, 13-12. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/COL/COL199906220.shtml Fifth: That same yr at Wrigley. The Cubs almost blew a 8-2 lead: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN199905040.shtml Sixth: Then you have this game, in which the Rockies scored in every inning..Plus they scored in the last 4 innings of the previous game, to which to Rockies scored in 13 straight innings. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN199905050.shtml WTH is going on when these two teams get together. It's safe to say, that when the Cubs/Rockies play, expect to see something you never seen before.
  5. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=41788&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=1025 Anybody remember this thread?
  6. Unless the pitching prospect is someone like Luke Hochevar, or Daniel Cortes, I don't see how the Cubs should trade two players with good value (and yes, I do believe Felix Pie still has good trade value, regardless of his treatment by the Cubs) for a cheaper Johnny Damon clone, and a utility player the Cubs already have in Mke Fontenot and/or Mark DeRosa (when he is not starting). So unless the pitching prospect has some serious upside, I don't see this being a good enough trade for the Cubs.
  7. Alabama will an impressive victory over East Carolina. Hey vance, it seems that Alabama and LSU are only two SEC teams that wants to continue playing baseball.
  8. IDK if it's lost on anybody, or what, but does anybody realize the Cubs made this comeback, WITHOUT Derrek Lee, Geovany Soto, ARamis Ramirez, AND Ryan Theriot? Half the starting lineup was out of the game before the comeback happens, and the Cubs still won this game. That's soapdropping unbelievable. I think it goes to show A: How deep the Cubs starting lineup truly is. B: That even the Cubs can get lucky once in awhile and win this kind of game. C: That the Cubs bench maybe better then originally thought. I also wants to give up props to the bullpen. Between Lieber/Eyre/Marmol/Wood, they combine to give up 2 runs in 6 innings, that kept the Cubs reasonably in the game until the offense got started. The fact that the Cubs pen only gave up 2 runs (and those belong to Lieber) on a day where baseballs were flying out like crazy, is mighty impressive. Congrats to the bullpen for ONE HECK OF A JOB.
  9. Nope, i saw Joe Borowski's picture. :D
  10. I like the sponsor quote on Shane Andrews' page: http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/andresh01.shtml That was great.
  11. Who cares. I don't care if he hit a 90 mph fast, or offspeed pitches, or Jamie Moyer's caliber change up, fact is fact, Edmonds came up with two huge hits---regardless of type pitches. BTB, I know Edmonds doesn't hit fastball anymore, but let Edmonds enjoy his one day in the sun with the Cubs. And let us semi-tolerate Edmonds for one day.
  12. Just stop. I'm not trying to call you out Kyle, just the people who keep this going on. We get it, Lilly is batting practice pitcher today. I feel an epic comeback is coming today.
  13. I'm not prepare to give up on this game. The game barely started. I know Lilly looked like Shawn Estes in the first inning, but I got the feeling that Aaron Cook go Jason Marquis, and give up the lead by the 5th inning. Part of it says the Cubs have historically hit Cook well (Cubs have hit .287 against Cook), and believe it or not I believe Cook is making his ever start at Wrigley.
  14. Or Kent Bottenfield magically turning himself into Greg Maddux for one yr, so that the Cards could trade him (with current Card Adam Kennedy for Jim Edmonds. Cards fans have no room to saying another team is "lucky."
  15. I'm gonna call it.....the Cubs are going to win this game.
  16. Or like jumping from a plane without checking the parachute. Or watching the Cubs sober.
  17. This is a nothing move, IMO. But I do know that during his time up, I am convince Ascanio will become a very good arm out of the bullpen for the Cubs. I love his stuff, and him and Weurtz are the reasons why they should let Howry walk. (Eyre is a different case). But it was also evident that Ascanio needed a little more seasoning at AAA. But he should be back at some point this yr.
  18. That's because everybody knows that Pat Riley controls the media down in South Florida. Rose won't be there at 2.
  19. Rose's "court vision" is better then you give him credit for. And IMO, I think his court vision will rival Kidd, Nash, and Deron Williams in no time.
  20. Don't forget he consumes said enemies soul after every victory....
  21. Normally I would agree. But with a sinker baller on the mound, I have to side with Brenly. With Lowe, you'll likely to keep the ball on the ground, by starting runners, you can atleast prevent the double player. So, I agree with Brenly, on starting runners against sinker ballers.
  22. ARAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Whatever on the spelling of his name. Once he becomes a Bull, I will remember to spell it correct. Stats don't always tell the whole story. I know people fall in love with the "numbers" and all, I will give Beasley props for his frosh season. All the stats says is that is "on the court" wise, Beasley had a better individual season then Rose. Nothing more/nothing less. I mean Glenn Robinson had better numbers then Jason Kidd, but who had a better NBA career? Glenn was a good NBA player, Kidd is a HOF. (Pac 10 .v. Big 10 debate in basketball here) SAR had better college numbers then Ray Allen. Who would you rather have? I know that this is an apples .v. oranges debate, comparing the Beasley/Rose to the Robinson/Kidd and SAR/Allen, but to simple truth is...college stats don't necessarily mean anything about who was a better player. Throwing college stats in this debate on who is a better player (or a better fit) is like saying to W/L record is the end all measurement to a pitchers' worth to a team. People think I don't want Beasley (and if Beasley was a legit 6'10, he's a no-brainer), but I believe---if you look beyond the stats---Rose was a better player. Beasley look good on the ESPN highlights, but Rose made his team so much better then Beasley. Not's in not. The joke is, that you think it's a joke. If I had the money, I would wager the fact that in 3 yrs (prolly less), Rose will be the better player from this draft. And let me say it again, if Beasley was a legit 6'10, he would be the no-brainer in this draft. My opinion is...after reading the writes ups on nbadraft.net: http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/michaelbeasley.html http://nbadraft.net/profiles/dannygranger.asp Very simlar writes up, IMO. The difference is Beasley being a better athlete. And the reason why Beasley had monster numbers is because KSU NEEDED him to put up those numbers. Bill Walker was the only other player even REMOTELY near Beasley in production this past season. So, KSU needed Beasley to be a monster, moreso then Memphis needing Rose to be a "mosnter." Cause without Beasley, KSU would have stunk to high heavens. I am going to stand by my comment, and say Rose is the better player, and stats are not the end all to prove it. And it's not a joke. Rose will be the #1 pick of the Bulls, and in two yrs, he will have the NBA envious of the Bulls, because they would have arguably the best PG in the business. Whereas, depending on where he goes, I could see Beasley (due to his size) struggle for awhile, before settling in.
  24. Derrek Rose will be the pick no matter what. The sooner you realize this, the less disapointment you'll feel when the Bulls take the better player in Rose.
