  1. Don't back down, but don't give the Rangers/Orr a reason to fight. IMO, this game needs to be won on pure skill.
  2. (SSR everybody is a DBAG, I accept the fact I am and publicly a dbag, will you admit to it. Besides SSR wrong Alabama school about knowing what is illegal. Try Auburn, they lead in PROBATION since 1957. Auburn has been on probation 33% of the time since 1957, far more then Alabama.) I knew Tennessee had no class, but my god.....Tennessee FOUND OUT about CLT "family situation" and basically exploited that to their advantage. They told CLT, we'll pay you xxx amount of dollars to come work for us, the thing is......you have 48 hours to decide. Here's where it get fishy, and ***could*** potentially lead to trouble for Tennessee. Apparently when Team A wants to talk to an assistant of Team B, Team A needs to ask for permission to talk to said Assistant by Team B's AD. Then you need to ask for permission from the HC (in this case it is everybody's fave...Nick Saban) to talk to said member of the staff. But seeing as Nick Saban was geniunely upset and shock on CLT announcing he would go to Tennessee, I kinda doubt Nick Saban gave permission to take to CLT. If something is wrong (I'm not saying there, I think there is something fishy with Tennessee's hiring of LT) here, I hope Nick Saban "Phil Fulmer" Tennessee and get the NCAA to slap UT with some violations. I hope for Tennesse sake they didn't do anything illegal, but something smells fishy. Sorry Dew, I know you like Tennessee, but man people want to criticize Alabama for nothing class, but Tennessee is clearly worse in this sort of thing. But hey Nick Saban and Alabama will drive out Lane Kiffin and his staff in three yrs, anyways.
  3. Not saying either ends up at UT, but you're just delusional if you think losing Thompson won't hurt you with his recruits. Personally, I couldn't care less about McCarron, because his film is not good, and he looks like a "project" at best. Richardson, OTOH, would be HUGE get, and a nice coup. And folks, let's not let RedFlash fool you- Saban is NOT happy about this one. This coming directly from a member of Bear Bryant's family who is very much in the know. I am sure about AJ McCarron. He has PERSONALLY said in PUBLIC that the only way he doesn't end up at Alabama is if Nick Saban is fired, or up and quit. It is as simple as that. Even if Lance Thompson remain at Alabama, AJ and LT would not have spent much time together, seeing as AJ is a QB, and LT is LB coach. This is a courtesy visit, along with Trent Richardson. I never said LT leaving wouldn't hurt Alabama in recruiting, so please stop putting words in my mouth. The fact is, LT was the "Point Man" in recruiting and Nick Saban is "The Closer" on every prospect that has signed with Alabama. Recruits have signed with Nick Saban and not Lance Tompson. Yes, I know LT was the recruiter of the yr for rivals last yr, but that was more like adding a 2nd layers of iciing on a cake that already had iciing. This is a good move for Tennessee, but I doubt it affects recruiting this yr other then little waves. Alabama will kee their class, without losing a single recruit to Tennessee. Like that or not, that is the truth from this side of the fence. The key members of this class will be signing with Alabama, and LT going to Tennessee will NOT change that. As for AJ, he is a better QB prospect then you give credit for. Saban is letting a nicely talented QB like Clint Moseley (a long time Bama fan, from a Bama family) live the state. And while he is on the smallet size, weight wise, and he clearly had an underwhelming performance at Army All-American Game, that doesn't change the fact he is one of the Top 10 QBs in the class, and with McElroy and Star Jackson (next's yr Jordan Jefferson) on the roster, Alabama can afford to red-shirt AJ and in 2010 he will compete with Star Jackson for a starter's job. I know right now, people on this board LOVES to critic anything Bama (maybe I might have something to do with it), but not everything affects Bama as some might think. The simple truth, LT is going to help Tennessee, NOT THIS YR, tho. Alabama's class is locked, period. AJ and Trent and perhaps Pat Patterson (who is a Bama lean, BTW) are visiting Tennessee as part of the recruiting process. Nobody from the Crimson Tide side is scared of losing anybody to Tennessee. Let's fact it....Nick Saban or Lane Kiffin? Lane is a HC by figurehead only.
  4. I'm not upset at CLT going to Tennessee (a lot of Bama fans are, I am not), I am upset at the timing of it. CLT was a holdover from CMS staff that Nick Saban elected to keep on staff, along with CKS. Unlike Kevin Steele, CLT had a legitimate coaching destination (LBers coach), but the real defensive coaches for Bama were and still is Nick Saban and Kirby Smart. While losing CLT does hurt in recruiting (not as much as some think), he doesn't hurt as much as a coach, seeing as he was "just" a LBer coach, which is his position with Tennessee. Not to mention he has a lot to be desire as a "game day coach". So he didn't get a promotion as he got a raise. Nick had a chance to match the offer, and Nick didn't think CLT was worth the raise. Who am I to argue with Nick Saban, since he does have an eye for talent, players and coaches? CLT will help Tennessee with recruiting, just not this yr. I know a lot of Tennessee fans are thinking they will now cherry pick talent from Alabama list to come to UTenn, but that's not going to happen. CLT has to walk a tightrope. CLT cannot have made contact with prospects about going to Tennessee if he was still coach at Alabama, cause if he does, you can bank on Nick Saban getting the NCAA involved and get Tennessee slap with a probation/loss of schloarships. So, I suspect CLT won't help Tennessee as much as some may think in regards to recruiting. AJ McCarron/DJ Fluker/Trent Richarson/Nico Johnson/Jonathan Atchison were players recruited by CLT and all reaffirmed their committments to Alabama. And to clarify about CLT role as a recruiter. On Nick Saban's coaching staff, CLT was considered a "Point man" which means he would set a direct line between Alabama and the recruit(s) high shcool. While CLT was great at that, the coach who close the deal on recruits coming to Alabama was and still is Nick Saban. Recruits are coming to Alabama to play for the Crimson Tide and Nick Saban, not Lance Thompson. I know people are sarcastically awaiting my answer to the CLT to Tennesse, but the reality is, I hate losing CLT so close to "Nick Saban Day" or as you mere mortals call it, "National Signing Day", and it hurt going to Tennessee, but it doesn't kill Alabama. Not to mention Alabama was able to hold onto a great coaching prospect in Bo Davis, who was being hounded by LSU, to which Bo basically told Les Miles and LSU to "Pound the street." I know people want to see Bama return to the gutter, and to see me cry, but it isn't going to happen. Alabama will not lose any committed recruit to Tennessee, cause as I said CLT has to walk the tightrope with recruits. Alabama will land a Top 5 class, and after next season, I will become an even bigger dbag the Truff and IMB. That is my goal. And if you didn't already know: ROLL DAMN TIDE. For what it's worth, it's a good hire for Tennessee.
  5. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a Veterans Committee stirrer in the Mariotti vein. that is a redflash-type comment, only for usc. Only with you, Truffle, only you I act like that. But unlike Carroll, I can admit to be a dbag.
  6. Sounds awfully hazardous. You know what I mean. Everytime the ball hit the bat, you stop and watch. So yeah, I still believe Marte will be a productive major leaguer, some team needs to give him a chance.
  7. i guess you are high on ryan harvey too? I was intrigued like most of Ryan Harvey's power potential, I was never "high" on Harvey. That and I never really saw Harvey play. I did with Marte, the young man obviously has talent, and I think if a team is needed a buy low/high reward type option for 3rd, then Marte could be your guy. The problem with Marte was that he went to organization that either didn't need him any time soon for 3rd (Atl with CJ) or to an organization that had no use for him (Boston) or an organization that has no idea how to use him (Cleveland), because of that Marte development as a player has been stunted. I'm not saying Marte will become a superstar, I just think he can become a really good player if a team just takes a chance on him. I know this board has talk about it, but like Felix Pie, Andy Marte needs to play to developed. Marte would be ideal player for Baltimore, especially to replace Melvin Mora.
  8. Yep. I don't want this jerk on the Cubs. MB maybe a jerk but at least he can play some ball, La Duca should just quit.
  9. I maintain Andy Marte will be a heckuva player. I remember when he was with Mississippi Braves and they were in town against the Montgomery Biscuits, I remember watching BP and everything he hit was a rocket. I mean everything literally exploded off his bat. I honestly believe Marte will be a late bloomer. If I was Baltimore, Seattle, San Diego I would try and buy low on him and let him everyday.
  10. I don't think there is much to it, but I DOUBT Gooden had an "ankle injury" and not playin Hughes---while the more they don't play him the better, IMO---means these two are clearly on the move. The question is.......when?
  11. Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden were both "healthy scratches tonight," which happens to be against a team that supposedly the Bulls are talking to about a trade. You put two and two together. Just remember the last time the Bulls sat two of their "main players" in a game, they traded Brad Miller and Ron Artest for Jalen Rose. I don't much comes out of it, but........
  12. I wouldn't mind Ivan as a backup, but considering who HE is, I doubt he would settle for a backup role.
  13. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Ryan Harvey have "impressive power" using aluminum bats back in the yr he was drafted? I'm not saying.....I'm just saying.........
  14. At this point, Jeff Blauser has a better chance at reaching the majors then Mark Prior. Sad to say, but it remains, I highly doubt we'll see Mark Prior in the majors again.
  15. is Tim Hudson injured? Yes, I believe he needed TJS.
  16. Same here. Someone should start a thread. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Been there, done that.
  17. I think adding Vaz and the Kawakami close the book for the Braves on Peavy, but Lowe signing locks the door.
  18. No way dude, he was talking about him: http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=31466
  19. well i'm an eagles fan and a penn state fan, which don't give me much reason to hate a guy who ditched michigan st, lsu and the miami dolphins. what do you think is more likely, that a philadelphia/penn state fan has a petty reason to hate/distrust nick saban, or an alabama fan has more reason to want to trust and like the guy who is now the head coach of alabama? I've said from the beginning that if Nick Saban stays 5 yrs (both the length at LSU and Michigan State) that I would be more then happy. Alabama NEEDED a guy of Nick Saban caliber to help restored the school football program back to where it once was. And he's getting very close to doing that. If Saban leaves after 2011, by then Alabama's job will become a viable place to coach again. Every REASONABLE Bama fan (and there are those of us) who knows Saban is a short-term mercenary, but we are going to trust him for as long as he is here. I mean, if you need a coach to turn a program around in a short period, which coach would you want on your said? I mean Nick Saban doesn't have the recruiting hot beds that Pete Carroll and Urban Meyer have every yr, nor did he walk into a ready made program like Urban Meyer. As far as I am concern, he's a better coach then Carroll, a better recruiter then Meyer and a better person then Les Miles. Take it whatever you want, but if Penn State was struggling in the Big 10 and didn't have Joe Pa as HC, one of the first coaches Penn State would call to see if he is available is Nick Saban. You take the good with the bad about Nick pawning himself off as a merc.
  20. If there is one recruiting service worse then scout, it is ESPN. Don't trust any recruiting service outside of rivals, but if your coach is worth his weight in gold, trust him (like Bama fans do with Saban) and his coaching staff over any analyst. well that's good to hear, at least somebody trusts nick saban. What's your problem with Nick Saban? Why have your bought into the media perception of him? Nick Saban is A: A hell of a coach, B: a hell of a recruiter, C: Nick and his wife Terry are good people. Whatever your problem with Saban is, is pretty damn petty.
  21. If there is one recruiting service worse then scout, it is ESPN. Don't trust any recruiting service outside of rivals, but if your coach is worth his weight in gold, trust him (like Bama fans do with Saban) and his coaching staff over any analyst.
  22. I'm glad he's coming back. My team is building up a very big, very fast, very smart defense, and now a very versatile defense, that winning another championship for Florida is no guarantee. If I had some, I would put money on LSU/Alabama ending Tebow's dream of another championship in the SEC Championship. Why did you quote this post? It has absolutely nothing to do with what you said... There were posts about Tebow returning all around the post he quoted. I'd say he just hit the "quote" on the wrong post. Yep.
  23. With Tennessee "alledgely" hiring Lance Guidry, aka Janzen Jackson's father, this could affect recruiting for three teams. A: LSU. For UT to supposedly hired JJ father, could make them the faves to land the young man. B: Tennessee. It would mean getting their biggest win in recruiting in yrs, IMO. C: Alabama as it would almost eliminate them for consideration. I'm going to lie this one hurts, but it doesn't change the fact Alabama still has a great class coming in. This would mean a big time battle between Alabama and LSU for Darren Myles, Jr will be heating up. Now, without sounding too brassy, but Alabama should finished in the top 5 on both scout and rivals, considering: A. certain big time prospects have AL as their leaders, and B. Bama's silent comments. Alabama has Kirkpatrick/Patrick as locks, and Bama is sure to sign a combination of following players Patrick Patterson, Kendall Kelly, and/or Rueben Randle (WR), Ed Stinson and/or Fletcher Cox (JACK LBers), Bobby Massie, Brandon Moore and/or Morgan Moses (OL), Eddie Lacy and/or Ronnie Wingo (RB/CB/ATH) and you can see why I am EXTREMELY excited about Alabama's class. Before people are going to say Alabama is going to oversign, that's because they are, and they already have a plan in place. In certain cases, ala Eddie Lacy and/or Morgan Moses, both are likely sign and place. If I had my case I would say: Dre Kirkpatrick (DB), Tana Patrick (LBer), Bobby Massie and Brandon Moore (OL), Ed Stinson (DE) Eddie Lacey (RB; Sign and Place), Kendall Kelly and Patrick Patterson (WR) and one major surprise on NSD will round out Bama's recruiting. Suffice to say, Alabama won't be a one yr wonder. And best news of the day for us Bama fans, Kerry Murphy, a monster DT prospect from the 2007 class, has finally been cleared by the clearinghouse, and is now enrolling at UA. Big news indeed. So I hope everybody's favorite team is accomplishing their goals, like my team is. And hopefully we'll have another great football season in 2009.
  24. Don't forget Shane Matthews....
