  1. I think from a legitimate baseball standpoint you're correct, but from a fantasy standpoint you're way off. Reyes is a good player, but in Fantasy, at this point, he's not hitting for much power, he's not hitting for much average, and he doesn't drive in any runs. He's good for scoring runs and stealing bases. He's becoming no more different than Chone Figgins at this point, a guy who hits well enough, but you mainly play for his steals. He's essentially a two category fantasy player at this point Zambrano and Kazmir, on the other hand, on average, will give you good K's, ERA, decent WHIP, and get you a good chunk of wins with the way both their teams are playing. They can help contribute in more categories than Reyes can at this point. And by adding two above average pitchers, you're essentially doubling what Bedard can offer. Going through with the trade will lose a lot of steals. But Drew is starting to come around and hit well (he's got a 121 OPS+ compared to Reyes' 101) and in the end, Escobar and Drew will produce in more places than Reyes will I'm willing to bet.
  2. A years supply of Bengay and adult diapers. Get it? Because they're old and junk
  3. If Kazmir wasn't such an injury risk, I might do it. But Bedard is also an injury risk. He's only had one fully healthy year in his last 4. It depends on how your pitching staff is. Bedard is pushing 30, while Zambrano and Kazmir are still young. Reyes is pretty much runs scored and stolen bases. I really don't think he's as great as the media would lead everyone to believe. It all depends. Zambrano will always be a solid starter, give good amount of stikeouts, and likely never get hurt (at least not for a long time), but Kazmir is always an injury risk and has already had a setback this year. But when he's healthy he's almost untouchable. It'd be a toss up for me. I'm not a big fan of Bedard's health history. Trading Bedard and getting two pitchers back isn't a bad deal. Reyes I wouldn't worry about if you have Drew and Escobar. The more I think about it this is how I see it: You give Bedard (injury risk, getting older, very good) You get Zambrano (never hurt, still young, very good) and Kazmir (injury risk, very young, extremely good). Zambrano's health and solidity should balanceo ut the loss of Bedard and any future loss of Kazmir. I don't know, I think in the end I'd pull the trigger, but that's just me. That and I don't really like Jose Reyes so I'm not really taking that into consideration so keep that in mind.
  4. Maybe Edmonds was too busy [insert homosexual joke] to pinch hit
  5. But the question is, will they? While the Cubs may be the best all around team, how many Cubs players are actually the top in their position? Looking at the seson some other guys are haing, Kozuke and Soto may be the the only Cub posiion players who may deserve to start on the all star team. Berkman over Lee Chipper Jones over Ramirez Burrell over Soriano But on the flip side of the coin, we have Theriot over Hanley and DeRosa over Utley for rilz Im asuming you're being sarcastic, but I was mentioning Cubs players who would get consideration for the AS team. Theriot and DRo have been doing there thing, but there are too many in front of them. Yes, sarcasm. And I also agree with your points that were made
  6. The word "laceration" sounds so vicious.

  8. Have fun. Where do you have seats? I went to two games last year for the first time in 10 years. I splurged for one of the games and got seats right behind home plate, and then had a family friend hook us up with bleacher seats for the Cubs/Cards game where Jacque Jones hit the go-ahead home run. I would think sitting behind home plate would be a thrill, but the bleacher seats were much much better, IMO. And more fun, to say the least.
  9. Like Bob Sanders, my Hanley Ramirez man crush would prevent me from making that trade, although I will admit it's very tempting. Reyes will give you the steals but it looks like his power potential and his hitting really overall is starting to show its true colors: mediocre. Saunders is a gamble, K-Rod is always solid but he's been a little sketchy this year, and McLouth could come down, although he could also be in a breakout year. All in all though, it's a keeper league, and Hanley is not only young, but elite. You'd be trading a sure thing fantasy stud for a few guys who will only help you in certain spots (or not at all if they turn out to be flukes). Wise choice
  10. I hope Gallagher pitches well enough against Houston that he'll be considered heavily for a rotation spot. Then he can join Geo and Kosuke in the Rookie of the Year competition
  11. You know the Pirates are 4th in the league in runs scored? [/narf]
  12. On May 16th, 2007 Soriano had 4 total home runs. I think he's got a good chance to smack 40 out this year. That'd be nice
  13. I completely forgot he used to play 2nd, that's how accustomed I've gotten to seeing him in LF. If we traded for Holiday, I would have no qualms about moving Soriano back to 2nd. Defense be damned, that lineup would rake
  14. Fielder may be one of Boras' hottest clients, and Boras usually likes his big name in big cities, like the Mets, Yanks, Red Sox, Angels, etc. I cant imagine him lettign Prince stay in such a small market unless they offer up A-Rod numbers. I'm pretty sure Scott Boras can't make Prince Fielder leave. If Prince wants to play for the Royals, it's Boras' job to try and negotiate the best contract with the Royals. Boras doesn't control Fielder. Fielder will most likely stay in Milwaukee
  15. If he could put something up like .275/.375/.475 or something around those numbers I'll be happy. If he puts up .265/.350/.450 I'll accept it. Anything less and I'll be a little ticked
  16. Here's hoping for a failed physical. Barring that, no point in fighting. Welcome aboard, Jim Edmonds. It would've been nice if you were here like 4-5 years ago when you were still good at life. Oh, and Sulley, I like the Bierce quote. The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary is my toilet reader. Nice choice.
  17. Hermida isn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball, production wise. If you're going to sell McLouth, sell him high while his value is there. He's a top fantasy talent at this point and you're thinking about trading him for someone who, quite frankly, isn't. Plus, McLouth could be having a break out season, you may want to hold onto him a little longer. But if you're gonna trade him, don't trade him for Hermida, that's silly. McLouth is currently ranked 6th in all of Yahoo... Hermida is 136th. That's not selling high. Trade for someone who is slumping but you know will break out eventually to be a top talent. Also keep in mind Hermida plays in a pitchers park, so that's not going to help his numbers increase that much more.
  18. Criticize Lou all you want, but this wouldn't be happening under Dusty Baker. Agreed. Watching their series against the Reds was jaw dropping just how much Dusty has already affected their hitting techniques. How many Reds are on the list and where do they appear?
  19. Now he's embarrassed by his hitting. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3392423
  20. Interesting blog thus far. I like how he said he started so he could interact with fans of the team, as opposed to his own personal enjoyment (or whatever). I also like how he was upset that they have to face Zambrano, and said that Zambrano's clip in Hardball Made Easy is hilarious.
  21. I don't know if this guy has slammed Jones in previous columns, sounds like he had, but if I was questioning him about his weight and play on the field, and how he feels about the fans reactions, and he told me he didn't give a crap, and also told me that I myself was fat and would probably die tomorrow, I'm taking him down
  22. Remember when plantar facitis was going to dampen his numbers and put him on the fast track to an early retirement, just like it did to McGwire? I'm still waiting for that to hurt his numbers, been 3-4 years now. I'll believe Pujols will be injured severely when I see it, but I just don't think it's going to happen. I'm starting to think they're releasing bogus injury reports on Pujols just to make fans of other teams angry when Pujols never gets injured
  23. It'd be nice if they just listed their stats instead of stupid traits that don't mean much. One look at Soto's numbers and there shouldn't be much discussion. On that page it makes Fukudome look like a better option.
  24. I was just rummaging through my old emails and found a slew of trade offers from one of last years NSBB leagues. Some trades I was offered last year... I get Julio Lugo, Brad Lidge, and Corey Patterson for Chase Utley and Ian Snell I get Jack Cust, Mark DeRosa, and Matt Capps for Chase Utley I get Reggie Willits for Ken Griffey, Jr. In the same vein however, I made a horrible trade offer of Placido Polanco and Matt Cain for Hanley Ramirez at the beginning of last season. Granted, this was before he broke out into superstar material, and Cain was still pegged to be a potentiual ace and Polanco was hitting the ball well, but in retrospect, what a good idea for that guy to reject, lol.
