  1. Well that was convincing. Any reason as to why you would back up that belief?
  2. I don't want him on my team anymore. I'd trade him, but the only guy who would need a catcher (he has only Kenji Johjima) doesn't even participate, and there's already several dozen catchers who are performing better than V-Mart at this point. I already have Geo on my team, so V-Mart is just collecting dust with his no-power hitting, no run scoring, no rbi producing worthlessness. Should I drop him or attempt to pawn him off on someone else? I'm thinking about picking up Bruce now that he's gonna be called up. Does V-Mart suck so bad right now that no one would even pick him up if he were dropped? I'd hate for him to get on a hot streak, he was one of my higher picks in the draft. At the very least, I'd like to see if he can break out of the funk and then I could trade him during a hot streak, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

  4. He stopped being a prospect back in 2006. He's had 2 near full years in 06 and 07, and both were virtually identical... 06: .291/.368/.441 15HR 79RBI 485AB 07: .284/.368/.467 15HR 60RBI 415AB He's gonna put up numbers people were expecting him to put up the past two years. The reason he's on that list is because he once WAS a top prospect, who appeared to be a middle of the road hitter based on his first two seasons. He's just now breaking out, and they're saying he's for real because he's living up to the potential finally as opposed to being Joe Ordinary like he's been the past two seasons, and how people I would assume were expecting him to be this season as well based on his consistency over the course of two seasons
  5. File this one under more Rotoworld hilarity...
  6. This might be the worst "stupid trade offer" post ever. agreed. Worst as in I was stupid to deny it or worst as in the guy who offered it to me is an idiot? Has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the offer or you denial of it. Worst in that it's far from a stupid trade offer. In fact, I think the guy was overpaying for Hamilton. But if you feel you're better off with Hamilton than accepting the deal, there's no fault in that either. It's just a trade offer that you didn't think benefited your team. Oh, gotcha. Well, my outfield already consists of Hamilton, Sizemore, Kemp, J. Upton, Dunn, C. Young, and Braun if I choose to plug him in there. The combined stats of Ibanez and Hunter is roughly equal to the production Hamilton has put up alone to this point. On top of that, I have other OF's who are playing better than both of them so they'd probably be riding the pine. And on top of that, I'd be making a 3 for 1 swing which means I'd have to drop two players. I wouldn't mind having Sabathia, but not at the cost of two players being dropped and losing Josh Hamilton. Because of this, I thought it was stupid

  8. I was just offered: Raul Ibanez Torri Hunter C.C. Sabathia for Josh Hamilton I don't need pitching and my outfield is already stacked, and giving away Hamilton for Ibanez and Hunter will make it worse.
  9. I'm gonna take a wild shot in the dark and guess that since Aaron Harang was born and raised in San Diego, and went to college at San Diego state, those must've been family, family friends, or just plain friends of his. And he might also be a Patriot fan... or he hates the Patriots and they did that to taunt him.
  10. I'm all for it, regardless of what they use it for, as long as they use it properly. All the complaints I keep hearing on the TV shows about it taking too long is silly. Oh no, it will take an extra 5 minutes to review a play and extend the length of the game. Boo hoo. Baseball games are long enough as it is, what's another 5-10 minutes? Seriously, what kind of important task do people have to do after baseball game that requires them to use the 5-10 minutes that were wasted determining an IR result? If it was so important that the IR deterred you from getting it done, you probably shouldn't be watching a baseball game in the first place. "How far apart are you contractions honey?" "I don't know, just get me to a hospital!!!!" "I can't, the damn umpires won't get this stupid call right. You might be able to deliver our child safely if these idiots didn't implement the instant replay rule. But, the game is the game, hold on for a few more minutes, pumpkin"
  11. Mark Prior is contagious, it would seem
  12. This was done when requested; I just forgot to respond. Done. Thank you. Looks like I'm doing pretty darn good so far.
  13. Kevin Towers must've thrown away a chain letter or something
  14. What sucks is that he's still at the age where once elite starters still make quality, serviceable starter on most teams, and for another 5-6 years perhaps, but his arm/shoulder is so jacked that he'll probably never be able to throw effectively again. That blows.

  16. Haha, with the numbers he's putting up, it might be a good idea to buy low. But we all know it's a pipe dream. There's only hope. Such is the life of a Cubs fan
  17. I think we should start on a path back toward the dead ball era and reinstate 4-man rotations. I wanna see some guys get 40+ starts a year, damnit. j/k
  18. I'm happy for Lester, he deserves it. However, I'm going to be annoyed at the fact that this will give Boston fans one more reason to be annoying. "We gaht da last two no hittahs!!!!" Or whatever. But good for Lester, for sure. Good pitching
  19. Me, personally, I do that tradei n a heartbeat. Cueto has shown he's fluky, plus the Dusty Baker factor, and he hasn't really been that dominant as he was his first few starts. Wagner is good, but still old. And you know how I feel about Reyes. So you'd have a Top 3 of Bedard, Z, and Kazmir. That's filthy. Who are your other closers? If you don't have many closers you might want to think about it, but if you have plenty to back up the loss of Wagner, I would do it in a hurry, but that's just me. Actually, out of curiosity, who all is on your team?
  20. N ot really quotes by baseball players, but still good, including my favorite from Field of Dreams "Ray, people will come, Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you have a look around," you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person." They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it; for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come, Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Ohhhhhhhh, people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come." - James Earl Jones as Terrance Mann, "Field of Dreams" Baseball is the only place in life where a sacrifice is really appreciated. —Anonymous If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base. —Dave Barry Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball, the rules and realities of the game. —Jacques Barzun quoted in The Joy of Sports, 1976
  21. He looks like he's awkwardly smiling at something he doesn't want to. Like... DRUNK GIRL: Oh my God, Alfonso you're so awesome, you're my hero. ALFONSO: Thank you DRUNK GIRL: Look at my boobies! *girl shows misshapen boobies* ALFONSO: *smiles awkwardly* At leaast that's how I see it. Drunk
  22. Why on earth would anyone want to Greet us when we have this sign that No one wants to read That will get you some airtime! j/k, of course. I can't think of anything good.
  23. Tis not a keeper league, a simple H2H Yahoo league. Only 8-team, that's why my OF looks stacked. I figured Upton was the weakest of the group, mainly because he's still young and could tank for the year, or h could continue to be a solid hitter and just not produce much, whereas every other player can bring something to the table specifically (except Kemp, maybe, he's been a weird case)
  24. I haven't been offered anything, but I have him on my team. He's hitting really well, but his power surge he had at the beginning of the season tailed off, and for some reason he's not stealing any bases even though he's clearly capable of doing so. My OF consists of... Grady Sizemore Chris Young Josh Hamilton Justin Upton Adam Dunn Matt Kemp Do you guys think Upton will come back around and start hitting for more power again, and maybe start stealing some bases, or should I sell high right now in hopes of landing someone else? Or shoul,d I trade one of the others? I definitely have some depth and can afford to lose someone to gain in another area. I was looking to upgrade at 2B. I have Theriot, and while he's performing nicely, I think I can do better. Maybe trade for Kinsler or Phillips or someone like that Stats are R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS. H2H league
