  1. And which ones would you drop if I have to. 8 team H2H league, OPS is an offensive category. My offense isn't that bad right now, but I don't have a lot of options off the bench, and I have a lot of pitching, but my pitching isn't as great as I'd hoped... C: Soto, V. Martinez (1B eligible) 1B: Pena 2B: Weeks 3B: Braun (OF eligible) SS: H. Ramirez OF: J. Upton, Dunn, Sizemore, C. Young, Fukudome SP: Bedard, Hamels, Snell, Carmona, Owings, Greinke, Cueto RP: Nathan, Rodriguez, Gagne I just put Bedard on the DL and picked up Owings to replace him. I didn't even want to draft Bedard because of his injury history. I only drafted him to try and trade to a team with crappy pitching for more offense, but the teams I tried to hock him off on wanted to wait a couple weeks before trading away their players, now that's all fubar. I recently dropped Chad Billingsley, not because I don't like what he can bring to the table, but because my offense only has 2 bench players, both of which are usually outfielders and I want a little more depth. I'd like one more offensive player for depth, preferably another infielder. These are the players I'm looking at. Evan Longoria - I'd move Braun to UTIL or OF, plus Braun is sucking it up lately. Does everyone think Longoria will be the real deal and worth a pickup? Mark Reynolds - Off to a hot start, but I don't think he's going to be as productive as this for much longer. Would he be worth the risk? Yahoo has him ranked 4th overall player in the league Casey Kotchman - Also off to a hot start, putting up nice numbers, not sure if it'll last though Anyone else you guys can consider picking up? There's a lot of options right now, butthese three are the only ones I'm really interested in since the others are most definitely flukes (Pierzinski, Kapler, etc.). Would any of these guys be worth it? Or is there anyone else you'd guys recommend looking into? Or should I attempt to make a trade for more offense, maybe trade some of my pitching? Oh yeah, Brian Banister... fluke or real deal? I considered getting him instead of Owings but went with Owings for Wins and K's over ERA and WHIP
  2. They should alternate its use between the leagues each year. This year, AL has it. Next year, NL. And so on, and so forth. But not really. DH don't bother me, but I personally like the way it's set up now.
  3. Ben Zobrist? What about Murton for Zobrist? He hasn't dazzled at the MLB level yet, and he his 26 already, but it sounds like it'd take more to get Brignac. Zobrist has good plate patience, and is a solid contact hitter. Not sure about his defense though. All I know is he was a bust when they brought him up to the majors and he's back in the minors now to work it out, I suppose I would rather have Brignac, though. Young power hitting shortstops aren't exactly easy to come by, so it'd probably be tough to get him, but if we're giving up pieces we're not using, who cares?
  4. Clothes don't make the man
  5. As much as it pains me to say it, the Troll does have a good point though. The Mark Prior nightmares have already started for me. Imagine waking up at two in the morning screaming in the darkness after dreaming that Prior no-hit the Cubs at Wrigley this summer. OMG...Say it can't happen. Say it won't happen. Yep, I have them too. :cray: Why'd we let this guy go? Because you watch Cinemax after 11PM HBO actually You're missing out
  6. Billy Hamilton's 192 runs scored in 1894 Cy Young's 749 Complete Games Rickey Henderson's 1,406 Stolen Bases Hugh Nichol's 138 single season Stolen Bases Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games played Someone mentioned Gehrigs 23 grand slams. Not sure if you knew it, but Manny Ramirez currently has 20 career grand slams. Unless he's running out of juice, he might have it in him to at least tie that record
  7. Didn't Jacque Jones end up getting some death threats sometime last season or something? I seem to recall him speaking publicly about it at one point. Sammy Sosa is totally hispanic. I know this because I looked it up. With the internet. Using Google. On Baseball Reference. AMBIT ENERGY CONSULTANTS If we're going to talk about black athletes and racism revolving around them, they clearly have to be black American athletes, since that's who we're obviously referring to, [dustylingo]
  8. Speaking of which, whats the latest on the sale of the Cubs? Sam Zell sold me 6 square feet of advertising space on the center field scoreboard for $73 and a corn dog. I'm putting one of these over the clock:
  9. "We're looking for offense, obviously. You need to score runs, and the guys who are hitting the ball are the guys who are going to play. What can I say?" - Lou's justification for playing Reed Johnson over Felix Pie (via TCR) Good to see 1 week of average play at best gets you tons more playing time. :| Just win, baby. [/Al Davis]
  10. This is a big deal in what way again? So he said he thought Neifi was a good player. And? How would the reaction be if Derrek Lee said the same thing (and he probably would, too)?
  11. Guy with better stats. The players shouldn't need a veteran who's been there to guide them through the season, that's what the coaches are for. The players are there to play ball and win, not play big brother to anyone younger than them. Give them advice, sure. But advice only goes as far as one is willing to take it, and chances are the better player can probably give pretty good advice since he's, you know, better. But that's just me

  13. Stop defending him for Wood and Prior. Oooohhhhhhh slam!
  14. I'm justified in hating the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry based solely on the fact that stupidity revolving around it gets headlines and publicity it doesn't deserve. Isn't there some heartwarming comeback story in sports somewhere that deserves some attention instead of talking about some stupid construction worker burying a shirt in Yankee stadium? Ranting helps me vent the anger that I could easily take out on others that I choose not to out of respect for my fellow board posters
  15. Stupid Boston/NY fans are an embarrassment to the human race. Seriously? You buried a Red Sox t-shirt in Yankee stadium? You're such a bad ass, guy. They should throw you a ticker tape parade
  16. Likewise, but it's the most annoying joke account of all time. It'd be one thing if it were funny, but I don't see the humor in it
  17. All non-US and Canada players(am i missing anywhere?) sign as amateur FAs. I figured, but Sosa and Ortiz were pretty bad/mediocre before breaking out and becoming elite hitters, were they not?
  18. This is improbable, Lilly makes good money, thus he can't be moved from the rotation. His 9.something ERA is why we pay him the big bucks! #-o Who makes what doesn't make a difference to Lou. This isn't Dusty. Yes, but it is Jim Hendry
  19. Not sure how their prospect status was, but... - Rickey Henderson was a 4th round draft pick (and Rickey Henderson ended up being all the Rickey Henderson that Rickey Henderson could be ) - Andre Dawson was an 11th round Draft Pick - Ryne Sandberg was a 20th round draft pick - Nolan Ryan was a 12th round drasft pick - Jim Thome was a 13th round draft pick - David Ortiz signed as an amateur but didn't really get good until he went to Boston - Mike Piazza is the mecca, a 62nd round draft pick - AJ Burnett was an 8th round draft pick - Sammy Sosa was an amateur free agent, but I'm pretty sure he sucked big time in the minors
  20. This is improbable, Lilly makes good money, thus he can't be moved from the rotation. His 9.something ERA is why we pay him the big bucks! #-o
  21. This just gives me a firm approval to add Al Reyes to the list of people I want to drink with
  22. Rich Harden injured? How unexpectedly unexpected
  23. He's actually not really "super young". He'll be 29 in November.
  24. The 1920's want their slang back. Banedon is the bee's knees. Peachy keen?
