  1. Song should've been "I Can't Live (If Living Is Without You)". U2 isn't emotionally crippling enough
  2. He certainly hasn't figured out how to take a friggin' walk yet
  3. Curious question... what are the odds that Andrew Cashner makes the bullpen this year? I remember some folks saying after he was drafted that he might've been able to help out in the bullpen at the end of the season. Are his skills honed enough yet to realistically consider him to be a part of the bullpen next season?
  4. If Andruw Jones actually gave a crap about his life, he could still be a good player, but it would seem he cares more about food rather than his health. If he actually exercised and got his weight back down to at the very least 240 it would probably make a world of difference with him. I haven't heard anything though about him that says he's been working on that though. Even if he did, I'd still say no. He'd still probably demand too much money and not be worth it. I think that at best he could be a serviceable CF'er if he got his act together, instead of one of the top CF'er in the game like he used to be
  5. The guy is a raging douche. The fact that he talks Cubs really doesn't help because he doesn't know Howry.(are we still using that?) The 1st time I met him about a month ago, I thought he isnt so bad. Then I actually had a converstaion with him, oh my he has issues. Nope, it's Veteran's Committee now. :( It's very appropo. Yeah, but it's kinda long. Go cry about to it to someone who gives a [expletive] :D
  6. After a full day of watching, I enjoyed the Inside the Game shows and the Hot Stove Live show, even if the people on there say some stupid things, i.e. Jack Morris = best free agency signing of all time. Nice try, Barry Larkin. I was particularly displeased by the amount of Red Sox programming already on the network though, but whatever. Gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette. I hope in the future they intend on getting the rights to show baseball related movies. I can't even remember the last baseball film I actually saw that I truly disliked.
  7. This network is wonderfully wonderful. It's been a long time coming, glad it's finally here
  8. Aaron Miles averaged 28 over 406AB the past 3 years :cray:
  9. It very well could have been, but I would have to wonder, why? What is to be gained? If he said that, would it drive down the price of Bradley (or other F.A.'s), how would it change the things with Peavy? Would Towers have said, look I know your payroll is tight, so I will cut my player requests in return so you take this guy off my hands and I don't have to pay him? While it could have been a red herring as well, I fail to see the point of why he would have done that. Agreed. I don't see why he would say it as a diversion. If he did, wouldn't he have done all these things over the course of the past few weeks? It's all too conspicuous that he's (presumably) signed 2 free agents, traded one of our pitchers, shopping DeRosa around (presumably), and restarted trade talks for Peavy all within 24 hours. I think they found an owner, and it sounds as if they gave Hendry the green light to get some deals done
  10. Guess I can get that jersey with my name on it now. Better hurry. Those are sure to sell like hotcakes. Like hotcakes made out of motor oil and soot
  11. Agreed. It's kind of weird though for me. DeRosa is one of my favorite players and he's also (I'm assuming) a fan favorite. But everyone always clamors for Hendry to sell high, and now that it seems inevitable that he actually is selling high on DeRosa, as he should be, it kind of sucks because I really like DeRosa. He's one of those guys that just fits in well on the team. But if it means we get Peavy, adios Mark! Thanks for the memories, but we got a Cy Young winner who needs a new team, pronto!
  12. Yay, now they can mooch off another player's milestone to put butts in the seats
  13. Watching what? MLB Network isn't on yet... unless it's doing some sort of preview channel... is it? If so I need to know, asap I have the channel already... it's just kind of a preview. They're just cycling between a special on the 2004 Red Sox playoff run, the 2005 White Sox playoff run, and then some highlight show called "Baseball's Epic Moments" or something like that. Is it on DirecTV? I checked 213, there's no channel for that yet on mine. Or is it on a different channel somewhere else in the directory? it will be on 213 as of 1/1/09. the people who already have it are on cable Crap nuggets. I want an early Christmas now

  16. It's sad that a team has to put that into a contract to make it an incentive to perform better. If that's what it takes to ensure a players success, I'd put that clause/incentive in every player's contract I'd write up
  17. I understand why lot of people think Cashman is a good GM, but how much of his big FA signings have been because he's a fantastic negotiator and not because they throw the most money at people to play for the largest market team in the league? Seriously if Cashman were the GM for a team like Washington, how much better would they be because of him and his GM skills?
  18. One pick. I thought Type A players cause teams to give up two picks? A team who loses a type A player gets 2 picks. One comes from the other team and one comes from MLB. Ahhhh, so I was partially right. The Rockies will get 2 picks, but only one from whomever signs him? Ya learn something new everyday
  19. One pick. I thought Type A players cause teams to give up two picks?
  20. I think the reason people aren't chomping at the bit over him is because he's a Type A. He'd be great to have in the bullpen, but I don't think I'd want him if we had to give up two picks for a him. I'd rather keep the picks and look elsewhere to bolster our bullpen
  21. I hope he'll enjoy playing for a perennial loser in the same region as his alternative choice. Now he just needs to decide on the league (and whatever team is offering him the most money). Although I bet Boston and/or New york will not jump at the chance to sign him now that the Angels are gone
  22. Wow, you are correct. And the amount of spacing between columns on the B-Ball Reference pages is perfect. I hope the final baseball reference pages have similar spacing. They're too close together right now in the sample
  23. Sigh. The posts should come really fast and really furious now, from everyone. I can't wait for the season to start. Lots of fun for all. Eh not really. I still accomplished whatever it was I was trying to say in those debates without it. I was just referring to the fact that it would save a lot more time and exert a lot less effort into some research. Especially now with the added SABR statistics
  24. He can't be any worse than Glenallen Hill. I can guarantee that Dunn won't hit any homers that land on the rooftops across the street. If Dunn were to play half his games at Wrigley each year, I'd wager money that he just might be the one person with the ability to do just that
  25. I kind of hope signing Bradley falls through now. Not having Dunn in our lineup knowing that we could have him there makes me a sad panda
