  1. Isn't KyleRJM the Cunucks? Someone said he gets on at night. Might need to wait till then.
  2. Yeah, that was kinda painful to watch, mainly because it didn't really get me hyped at all... but what other team has a pair of broadcasters who started a rock band together? That's still pretty cool, even if that video really wasn't
  3. He's in the last year of his contract and he's still one of the best hitters in the league, there should be no reason for the Angels to overreact if people honestly think they will. He's a guy who is one year older and will probably still put up an OPS+ of 130 or higher. All this means is it will make the Angels rethink their stance on extending him or resigning him next offseason after they get another year of Top 10 production out of an aging veteran. This isn't that big a deal
  4. I'm almost embarrassed to say how low he fell in my draft. Everyone was talking about how he wouldn't last more than a few weeks and avoided him like the plague. Every year Albert Pujols is suffering from some sort of nagging injury that might either put him on the DL or hinder his performance and it never does. Didn't he have plantar fasciitis 3 or 4 years ago? Isn't that would ended McGwires career? He ended up stealing 16 bases the next year after it was known that he had this foot injury I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but each year he has some sort of injury that's going to halt his production or slow him down a notch and it doesn't. Has anyone ever thought that maybe these are just fake reports released by the Cardinals so other teams think it's okay to pitch to him, otherwise he'd just get the Barry Bonds treatment? Does that sound ridiculous? Yes... but every time I hear about a potentially damaging offseason Albert Pujols injury, I call B.S., and sure enough each year, he's MVP caliber. Why is that? For the record, I know it's not true and this sounds remarkably stupid, but it ticks me off to hear people act like Pujols' reign of terror is coming to an end with an injury that no one could've ever noticed form the way he played and produced. Always in the offseason, and always referencing the season before when he was playing with the injury and the next one could be a huge down year. Really? An injured elbow in a season where he put up a .357 average and 37 home runs. Yeah, okay. Sure.
  5. If that were true Barry Bonds would be dust right now
  6. DIDN'T YOU GUYS SEE HOW WELL THEY DID AFTER MANNY SHOWED UP. SWEET BABY JESUS AND THE CHILDREN THEY WERE LIKE THE ROBOCOPS OF BASEBALL!!111 I don't know why I did that, I'm running on fumes and am kind of delirious right now
  7. Back to the minors for Jay Bruce! Disclaimer: This is a joke. If you think I'm serious you are a stupid

  9. Or is it all just a ruse to prevent people from realizing he's a leper? I need a backup 1B in one of my leagues and thought he'd be a decent sleeper pick if he's healthy, but that's like saying he'd live forever if he wasn't already dead. Is he expected to be healthy this season or is it unrealistic to even consider him to be available for 50 games?
  10. Well this keeps getting better and better. A torn hip labrum? And he's gonna play through it? How severe is a torn labrum in the hip for a hitter compared to the shoulder for a pitcher? Every time I hear "torn" or "tear" I assume the worst
  11. i made you an offer. And I already accepted :D Thanks
  12. I'm willing ot trade my second 3rd round pick (Pick #11) plus one of either Eric Hosmer (24th best overall Prospect, 4th best overall 1B Prospect, Baseball America) or Logan Morrison (18th best overall prospect, 2nd best 1B prospect, Baseball America) in exchange for a first half 2nd round pick (any pick 1-8). Any takers?
  13. I'm glad I took him in the first round of two of my drafts.
  14. Can you make a list of the best players not on the list of best players not in the HOF? 1. Dave Concepción 2. Dave Concepción 3. Dave Concepción 4. Dave Concepción 5. Dave Concepción
  15. I can't join it because I've reached the max allowable teams you can own on Yahoo, but if you want to add some more depth to your pitching you should look into changing the BB category to holds... this way if you're S.O.L. on closers you can still draft relievers like Scot Shields and stay competitive. It can make for interesting draft picks as well since some will neglect the holds category Just an idea. I'm doing it in one of my leagues on an offline draft, it's been interesting. People have been holding off on closers till the 13th and 14th rounds rather than the 9th or 10th round they've usually gone in the past.
  16. Yeah, I agree but I think they are assuming he's going to get fatter and crappier as the contract gets fatter with it being backloaded. But yeah at the moment I think he's more than justified the dollars. They've been saying that for 5 years. Same thing about Albert Pujols and his annual mysterious performance threatening injuries
  17. The last time something similar to this was building up momentum over several months was back in the late 20's, and then the stock market plummeted and the economy went in the crapper..........
  18. IIRC, during the spring before Andruw's break out year it was Willy Mays who pointed out a flaw in his swing, and Andruw heeded his advice, changes his swing, and crushed 50 home runs that year. I wonder if he just forgot what he was doing right or if he just didn't care since he was making big bucks
  19. Call me crazy, but I think Carlos Lee has been earning his paycheck rather well to this point
  20. I guess there always needs to be one... I'm in a long runniung league that we turned into a keeper league. The rules we laid out were that we were allowed to keep 2 players. You are only allowed to keep a player you drafted in last year's draft and had on your roster all year long. If you chose to keep that player, you would then forfeit your draft pick 2 rounds ahead of where you drafted that person the year before. This way, the top tier guys are available for everyone, and it would make people consider keeping mid level players from the mid rounds instead. There were 2 bonehead moves regarding this in this league, and one draft bonehead move (so far) 1) The reigning champion chooses C.C. Sabathia and lost a 4th round pick, which makes sense, he was gonna go in the 3rd or 4th round anyways. His 2nd keeper pick was Michael Young... and he lost a 6th round pick for him. 6th round... Michael Young, who does not hit 20 home runs anymore. To put it into perspective, he could've kept Brad Lidge and lost a 12th round pick, or Joakim Soria and lost a 20th round pick. Or, he could've kept neither of them and saved his 6th round pick for someone else. It's an 8 team league, here were the guys who were drafted in the 6th round this year... David Ortiz, Brian Roberts, Rich Harden, Carlos Quentin, Carl Crawford, Manny Ramirez, Justin Morneau........ and Michael Young 2) The same guy drafted Ian Kinsler in the 2nd round. No biggie, he's a 2nd round ranked player on Yahoo. He's got his 2B, no need for another one until later... His 3rd Round pick was Dustin Pedroia 3) There is a new guy in the league taking over for someone else. He took over because the guy the year before, participated for about one week before not bothering with it all year. So this new guy had the opportunity to keep 19 of the 22 players he drafted. Among them, he could've kept Roy Halladay and lost a 10th rounder, Yovanni Gallardo and lost a 13th rounder, Joba Chamberlain and lost a 14th rounder, Rafael Furcal and lost a 15th rounder, Ryan Zimmerman and lost a 17th rounder... He chose to keep.............. no one. Which is fine, he wants a fresah start, but I can't say that I would do the same if I had a freebie shot at Joba Chamberlain as a 14th round pick staring at my face. Or Furcal as a 15th rounder.
  21. You're being a bit extreme. I would rather have a more sure backup OF than Snider when Justin Upton and Maybin are starters, but there are a lot of OFs out there so he can just pick one up from the WW if all 3 of those young guys fail. Same thing with pitchers. If there are any positions to take risks on its those. Since there are obviously more OFs and SPs on real major league teams theres a much better chance that quality minor leaguers get brought up and guys break out. According to the BlueJays.com depth chart Snider is the starter in LF. But he could just as easily be a bust and need more polishing in the minors. Same with Maybin, Teagarden, Scherzer. It's a risk I take, but I take it proudly
  22. You know what happens when you assume especially in fantasy sports. ;) I end up destroying the competition? Probably not
  23. Tried finding him as well. When I couldn't I went with the safer pick in Wallace. Yeah, I did some research, saw his low AB and immediately thought injury, then I saw it was just a contract issue. Baseball America has him #24 on their list of top 100 prospects, and MLB.com put him on their list for 2009 so I figured he's good to go. Yeah, picking him is fine. However, if the contract issue is not resolved and he has to go back into the Amateur draft, you will have to release him from your roster. I know that potentially sucks, but it's the only way to prevent opening a can of worms that we do not want to be opened. From mlb.com in September... I assume he's good to go
