Well I think that's how MLBTR started out... just a blogspot site posting message board rumor fodder. Then he got wise, got a strategy, and started posting info from news articles across the country. If anything, MLBTR is one of the most valuable websites on the net for baseball news and information. It's a massive compilation site of the nations news articles pertaining to specific teams and players. And yeah, he's not really giving hard hitting analysis. Just pointing out basic info regarding their future. IIRC Dierkes is a die hard Cub fan, so I'm sure if he wanted to he could go on for a while with an in depth analysis, but he needs to keep the site neutral

Where was this? Blue Jays park....can't remember which town....Dunedin? I think it is Dunedin, just north of Clearwater. I haven't been there but it sounds like the same situation the Red Sox were in here in Ft. Myers. City of Palms Park is in the middle of the city with not much parking and it's an older facility. They are getting new digs in South Ft. Myers similar to the setup the Twins have here at the Lee County Sports Complex. The Cubs are looking for 120-130 acres and a state of the art facility would be built. Depending on the property they buy it should be close to the inter-state and no problems with parking. It's like that in Bradenton with the Pirates spring training facility as well. That was built in the early 90's, very limited on site parking, most people park in adjacent parking lots and streets. Unless that's changed... I haven't been to a ST game in my hometown in nearly 15 years. -

I'm not one for breaking traditions, but their proposed new location is only like an hour or two from my hometown sooooooo...... yeah, that would be awesome -

I like how in this conspiracy if you were even associated with the team or any player, you're guilty. I also like how steroids is treated like one specific thing that was passed on from generation to generation like a secret magical power, and not something that anyone could get anywhere at any time they wanted. It all had to stem from one specific person. Please. In the 80's, all they had to do was go to a friggin' Golds Gym and ask around. They didn't need Dave Kingman to spread the word about steroids. This was such a stupid POS article, if you can even call it that (an article, not a POS. It's definitly a POS).

It's certainly a very generous offer, and one that I spent weeks comtemplating. But, at the end of the day I just can't part with Mauer. His sign stealing abilities make him too valuable to cut loose. Curses! I forgot that stealing signs efficiently earns you extra points next year!

Like you have options. If any moron is going to give you 200 points and a draft pick for Pujols, they've lost their dang minds. Only one team could afford to do that. I would if I could. Anyone want to trade me some keeper points for someone not named Justin Upton, Neftali Feliz, Brian Matusz, or Trevor Cahill?

Not doubting Castros talent, but.... Dave Keller is certain that Starlin Castro will be on the Cubs before the end of the 2010 season because, and I think I'm reading this right, because he writes neat and orderly in (what is for all intents and purposes) a diary?

You mean you wouldn't want Johnny Damon? He rediscovered his power stroke this year! It had nothing to do with Yankee Stadium at all! That and he has the sweetest ass in the league according to Fever Pitch. And this is sickening... if Johnny Damon can get 150 hits in each of the next 5 years (he'll be 40 in the 5th year), he will surpass 3,000 hits, making his HOF chances pretty good :-&

I would imagine that the Angels are one of the interested teams, what with them losing Guerrero and Abreu to FA this year, leaving them without their primary RF and DH, two roles Bradley can fill

That was the initial prognosis, but they decided to try and rehab him for a couple months and see where he was, despite the suggestion by DJA for Tommy John. Obviously, Andrews was right. When I was working with the BayBears and Parker was there we caught a peek at the fax from his office saying a recommendation for TJS. This was in mid August I think.

For someone who is injured practically every year I'm surprised Ramirez has all those games played achievements... then again, he's the only player who has been in the starting lineup since 2003... How far back was Lee, I assume his wrist injury really set him back a ways, otherwise I would imagine he'd lead in all those categories perhaps?

I really don't get it either. He's been quite good in his time in Chicago. It was Dusty's fault. Dusty was a terrible manager and misused pitchers badly and as a result their poor performances reflected badly upon Rothschild and he received a lot of heat IIRC when they brought him back after Dusty was gone. I think there's still some people who fail to remember that the pitching woes of 2004-2006 were largely in part due to Dusty's management of the pitching staff, not Rothschild's coaching ability. I was one of those people who was upset when Lou asked for Rothschild back. Then the Cubs pitching was really good in 07 and it was obvious that it wasn't Rotshschild who was to blame for the bad pitching in the year or two prior. Dustty never wanted Larry in the first place; his preference would have been for Dick Pole to have been pitching coach instead of bench coach. Larry was basically forced on Dusty because he was in the middle of a multi-year contract (the only coach whose contract didn't expire at the end of the 2002 season). I remember reports that Dusty basically ignored what Larry had to say. He was really pitching coach in name only. Wow. I never knew that part of it.

That sounds like what Perry's philosophy was, no? Not hacking at the first good pitch you see just because it's a good pitch, but waiting for the first good pitch pitch you want and taking advantage of it when you recognize it?
