  1. Have you been tracking his progress? The odds of that happening aren't exactly in his favor
  2. If there was ever a game to loosen the reigns on his pitch count it was this one. Could've given him a chance at an MLB record that likely would've stuck for a long time, while at the same time giving the people who showed up an even better pitching performance the the one they actually got. It's already going to be remembered as one of the most dominating pitching debuts in history, but it could've been THE most dominating in history if they just loosened up and let him go to 110 just this one time. It was a special game, they should've made a special circumstance

  4. Unreal. Absolutely unreal
  5. Gives up a homer to Delwyn Young? Bust.
  6. I wonder if someone would bite on Rios. He's been arguably the best overall outfielder in the majors this year.
  7. Didn't the Yankees do the same thing with Joba last year? Does this mean we have Randy Rules?
  8. what good with that do? he'd never hit the guy. Well played, sir. =D>
  9. Tim Lincecum and Josh Johnson will likely go before Silva, too. Other possibles based on performance or reputation/fan base: Matt Cain, Jonathan Sanchez, Mike Leake, Stephen Strasburg (he will get votes, regardless of performance), Clayton Kershaw, Tim Hudson, etc. I think with Silva being a notoriously terrible pitcher he might get overlooked for some bigger names. If he keeps this level of performance up he definitely deserves the nod, but if he's not picked it wouldn't surprise me one bit. I think pitchers are selected by the managers and not by a vote. I doubt that Strasburg will get in and name recognition will be less important. I think managers seem to favor veterans that have paid their dues and that could help out Silva. I think that Silva will get in as a replacement for someone that pitched the Sunday before. If I'm not mistaken managers will select alternates, if a voted in pitcher is unable to pitch. Otherwise, they are all voted in by the fans. I guess I am mistaken... you can't vote for pitchers. Could've sworn you could... and based on this... You're right
  10. Apparently they're capping him at 100 pitches tonight. My prediction: 9 IP 0 H 0 BB 27 K's 0 ER 81 pitches Easy money. But seriously... 6 IP 5 H 2 BB 1 ER 8 K 94 pitches

  12. He needs to be assigned to a firing squad
  13. MLB Network I'm glad somebody is covering it; there would be many, many upset baseball fans if they couldn't watch his debut. I was freaking out when I saw that it wasn't going to be on ESPN and only local channels. I gotta hit up a bar to watch it, but still I'm glad I can see the game. MLB.tv was my last resort. Bah, the bar should be my last resort, I realized that MLB.tv will be cheaper, lol
  14. You just did. And bravo, sir. Bravo =D>

  16. I admit I don't really give a crap about Jake Peavy anymore, but as soon as I saw the thread title he was the first name I thought of if the Cubs had any interest in chasing after one of their guys
  17. Dear God, no. Is that a "Dear God, no not this crap again!" or a "Dear God, no he's not as good as advertised and I want no part of him"? Or both?
  18. Not sure if this has been posted, I'm guessing not since it happened very recently. But this video gives me chills and reminds me why I love baseball. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kB6mzvJciQ&feature=player_embedded#!
  19. I'm willing to bet a lot of the walks Soto accrued over the year have been a result of him hitting in the bottom of the lineup in front of some pitchers and dubiously weak hitters
  20. I've only sat in the bleachers once, and it was in right field in the last row up against the fencing (made for a nice backrest). Judging from just that one time, I was convinced that one would be hard pressed to find a lot of bad seats in the bleachers, the view are great everywhere. I paid over $200 to sit 9 rows back from home plate, and got some free tickets to the bleachers two days later. Even if I had to pay for the bleacher seats, I'd take the bleachers 9 times out of 10. It was awesome.
  21. Good idea, they aren't going to win anything anytime soon and they could use a jolt to their farm system after trading away guys like Chris Young and Chris Carter and the like over the past few years. Maybe I'm opening up a whole new can of annoying ass worms, but... Buy low on Jake Peavy?
  22. Not sure if we post them or not, but Janzen's receives my (TBCS's) 1st round amateur draft pick (4th overall)
  23. I can't remember the last year when there were so many highly touted prospects in the league at the same time, a handful of which will be serious contenders for the ROY award this year. Seriously, it's like a who's who of future all star teams in the NL alone... Jason Heyward Mike Leake Stephen Strasburg Mike Stanton Buster Posey Jaime Garcia Drew Storen Andrew Cashner Starlin Castro Jhoulys Chacin Jennry Mejia Alcides Escobar Ike Davis Craig Kimbrell If you toss David Freese in the mix you could almost field an entire team of nothing but highly touted rookies. The only notable rookies in the AL (that I can spot) are: Justin Smoak Wade Davis Brian Matusz Neftali Feliz Seriously this is a great year for fans of the youth movement in baseball. It's pretty exciting to see all this talent all up at once. And there are still guys like Carlos Santana, Pedro Alvarez, Desmond Jennings, Aroldis Chapman, Brett Wallace, Madison Bumgarner, etc who still may get the call eventually
  24. His ERA+ now sits at a paltry 484. In somewhat related news (but not worthy enough for its own thread), I didn't realize how amazing Arthur Rhodes has been for the Reds. 24IP 1ER 7BB 23K 0.38ERA 0.66WHIP That's good for a an ERA+ of 1132..... at the age of 40
