  1. I've known about Sands but after hearing him as a hopeful end result for Lilly I looked at his numbers a bit closer... wow. Yes please. Power, patience, and decent speed? I would imagine the Dodgers are pretty high on him though,m but he's not a premier name so maybe they'll give him up.
  2. Johnson is catastrophic away form Arizona, fwiw. Home: .316/.411/.620/1.031 Away: .232/.310/.359/.669 That being said, I'd much rather have him than Theriot, by a long shot.
  3. I wonder if they'll be able to swindle Jesus Montero in the deal
  4. When are people going to realize that Edwin Jackson isn't that great? He has had literally only about 3 1/2 months of consistent success at the major league level as a starter in the last 4 years... why does he still have good trade value? I know he's still only 26... but he's just not good. Why is he able to be involved in trades for quality players like Max Scherzer and promising young prospects like Daniel Hudson? I'm not saying Hudson is Cy Young incarnate, but if I'm in a pennant race and I need a starter for my rotation the last name I would have on my list is Edwin Jackson. I'd rather test out Hudson
  5. He hasn't reached AA yet, and while his plate patience is still there, his bat seems to have completely disappeared. Norris might not be ready until after next year unless this season has been flukish. If he does play next year it looks like it will be mid season at the earliest
  6. Houston has a really bad female crime rate, they need someone to keep them in check. [rimshot] [hanginghighfive]
  7. I applaud the Nats for selling extremely high on Capps. Well played. Well played indeed. I suppose now they can move either Ramos or Norris to 1B while the other is catcher and Harper will come up playing RF? That's gonna be a nice offense a few years from now once it's all settled in.
  8. Notta, Cardinals traded Wallace to the A's in the Matt Holiday deal. A's sent Wallace to the Jays for Michael Taylor (I think?)
  9. When I see this picture: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_19VzxRj5sak/Syg9KWaZEgI/AAAAAAAAAd4/uXA4S9Jjqrs/s400/brett-wallace.jpg I think of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D99n9f3vU4
  10. I would pay money to hear a tape of this. When B+B find them selves on the right side of an argument with morons, it's just classic radio. http://wscr.cbslocal.com/2010/07/28/boers-and-bernstein-full-show-17/ It begins in hour 4 around the 20 minute mark. There's a classic call at the 29 minute mark. Boers was doing the show from his house and they lost his feed during the storm so it was just Dan. This is spectacular
  11. Brett Wallace was ranked 20th overall by Keith Law and 27th by Baseball America, and Jason Grey of ESPN ranks Wallace as the 6th best prospect in the minors right now. He's not without his flaws, but he's obviously somewhat highly regarded as a prospect. I'm a little shocked they got him for this guy. I think at this point he's strictly a 1B now. Seems the Disastros are now shopping Lance Berkman
  12. I'm really curious to know who we would've gotten back in return for Lee. At the very least, it would give an idea of how much (or little) other teams might value him.
  13. Jim Bunning wasn't a $15 million dollar investment. This, as a result, makes Strasburg better than Jim Bunning
  14. Would be swell if we had him on our team, if only for the possibility of Geovany Soto catching Giovanni Soto
  15. J.A. Happ's numbers prior to his MLB breakout weren't bad by any means, but it does seem his breakout year was a fluke. Is J.A. Happ really that bad though that we wouldn't want him on the Cubs? Obviously he's been injured, but would this be a case of buying low, breaking even, or taking whatever we can get?
  16. With Victorino to the DL and the Phillies calling up Brown, I wonder if they'll hold off on trading Werth now since it appeared they were trying to move him to make room for Brown in the first place. :-k
  17. A bit more analysis from MLBTR...
  18. Will Inman? Or is that setting sights too high?
  19. Another no-hitter? Yawn
  20. For some reason I thought the conversation at the top of this page was from yesterday and didn't see a reference to this. My mistake
