  1. If Aramis has every intention to opt out, and the Cubs have no intentions of bringing him back, I kinda hope the Cubs are able to shop him around before the deadline. If he continues to perform like this for the next couple of weeks up to the deadline his trade value might be replenished
  2. Who do the Dodgers have in their system now that would be a a player we could conceivably swindle from Colletti?
  3. Selling high on Byrd is one of those "smart" things the Cubs seems so inept at doing.
  4. Latos has always been one of their top prospects since they've had him. It's a shame he went 2/3 of an inning over rookie status last year. Selling high on Latos would yield a massive return, but would also be one of the dumbest things a penny pinching franchise could possibly do with a young stud pitcher who is going to make pocket change for the next few years, pending a Longoria-esque extension
  5. Gotta drop some dead weight, gonna risk it and use both my drop/adds for the 2nd half now... Drop Kyle Blanks Add Colby Rasmus Drop Joe Mauer Add Carlos Quentin
  6. Apparently he hit 90 mph during that showcase leading scouts to say the whole session was "just alright." You can't blame the guy for giving it one last shot though. When your whole life has been baseball, it can't be easy to let go. Especially when you have that much talent. I wasn't referring to Prior trying to make a comeback, I actually hope he can comeback and wish him all the best... I was referring more to the stunner of the O's/Andy MacPhail once again going after a former Cub who's failed and/or fallen out of favor.
  7. I'm genuinely shocked they didn't put Joe Buck and Tim McCarver on there. Or Jon Miller & Joe Morgan. I know they don't have specific teams, but they are more prominent broadcaster teams since they're national, and Chist alive Buck & McCarver are terrible and Morgan alone should put that tandem on the list.
  8. Why? An old man in bad health for a decade finally died. I don't know why. He's always been there. Mostly as the guy I loved to hate in baseball. I guess it is a strange reaction to have given the situation. Well, at least we can still hate his family. They're not going anywhere.
  9. Morneau out with injury, and Girardi selects to replace the first basemen with the best 1B option not yet on the team, the one who everyone claims was severely snubbed, and the one player who would seemingly be on his way to the ASG pending another injury... Paul Konerko. Suck it, Youkilis
  10. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mariners/2012321497_lueke10.html Interesting subplot
  11. If you came up to me at the beginning of the season and asked me if I thought Carlos Silva's ERA had a better chance at being under 4.00 or over 6.00, I'd probably go with the latter, and the odds would probably agree with me. He's been great for us. Too bad his terrible track record still hurts his trade value. He's technically only owed $10M through the end of next season to whoever has him if I'm reading Cot's correctly ($4M rest of this year, $6M next year), which for a guy who is putting up these numbers is very reasonable, but I doubt GM's around the league trust this performance. I'm sure we couldn't get anything of real value for him without having to eat more salary
  12. I've never watched it so I haven't a clue about any of it, but is this different than Rugby or is this the same thing under a different moniker (or vice versa)?
  13. Speaking of... let's see how they do http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2010/07/07/the-dugout-dmitri-young-arrested-for-being-dmitri-young/
  14. I can't believe they gave up their top prospect and others for a half year rental of a guy they won't be able to keep after the season. I admire Texas' cojones but I admire Seattle's ability to get the most out of Lee a bit more. Short term this obviously makes Rangers a better team, but long it pretty much gives he Rangers a window till the end of the season to do some real postseason damage
  15. Here's what Keith Law said about Flores in his Top 100 Prospects report... . He's 6'3" 175lbs and 18 years old, that frame is going to fill out over time and perhaps he'll be able to add some power, but it's still too early in his career to consider him a sure thing obviously. He's the only prospect of theirs I'm genuinely interested in in terms of guys the Mets might actually give up
  16. [expletive] really? At this point you're starving for attention, there's no way you could be this ignorant regarding the matter without intentionally doing it to annoy people
  17. I don't understand the Fernando Martinez love. He's not a power hitter, he's not a base stealer, he's not an amazing contact hitter, he's not patient... Does he project to evolve into something better because his numbers are drastically mediocre. Is he an elite defender? I know he's still young so there's room for improvement but what is his ceiling? His numbers don't really inspire much excitement
  18. A very good prospect at first base or second base would be what would tempt me with Dempster. I would add third base to that list, as well. Josh Vitters :(
  19. I wish The Dugout never sold out, because this would make for a hilarious segment
  20. LeBron to Miami, suckers
